Texas Longhorns land commitment from four-star TE Nick Townsend

Four-star TE Nick Townsend announces commitment to the Texas Longhorns

Steve Sarkisian, Jeff Banks and the Texas Longhorns continue to find a ton of success on the recruiting trail as they have just landed their 15th commitment in the 2025 class in four-star TE Nick Townsend.

The Longhorns 2025 class is shaping up nicely as they currently hold the No. 14 recruiting class in the cycle with Townsend being their ninth four-star. Townsend is also the highest-rated TE that Sarkisian has been able to land since arriving on the Forty, three and a half years ago.

Townsend is the No. 4 ranked TE in the 2025 class and the No. 88 ranked player overall at 6’4 and 255 pounds. As a Spring, TX native, it was always imperative for the Longhorns staff to keep him in-state with the Alabama Crimson Tide and USC Trojans breathing down their neck.

Outside of starting TE, Amari Niblack, it is one of the weaker positions on the Texas roster. So, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see Townsend making his way up the depth chart rather quickly.

Texas adds 4-star TE/EDGE Nick Townsend to Class of 2025

Steve Sarkisian adds Nick Townsend out of Houston to his Class of 2025 for Texas

Steve Sarkisian is gobbling talent as his Texas Longhorns get ready for their first season in the SEC.

The coach won’t have 4-star Nick Townsend until next season but the tight end is the highest recruited player Sarkisian has landed at the position since taking over in Austin.

Townend attends Dekaney in Houston (TX).

Per 247 Sports:

Plays and excels on both sides of the ball and looks like a legitimate Top247 guy as a TE, linebacker or edge rusher. Has a tight end frame but runs like a big receiver. Lines up all over, out wide, slot and in the backfield and shows strong hands and the ability to make big plays after the catch. Runs away from defensive backs, drags would-be tacklers and has a physical edge in his game. Flashes on defense at linebacker and edge showing natural pass rush skill and hits like a truck as a ‘backer.

LSU offers 2025 4-star tight end from Houston

There are no clear favorites to land Nick Townsend so far.

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and his recruiting staff took a trip to Houston to extend an offer to one of the best tight ends in the 2025 recruiting class. Kelly has had a lot of talented tight ends over the years and he may have found another one.

[autotag]Nick Townsend[/autotag] is a 6-foot-4, 225-pound, four-star tight end from Houston, Texas where he plays for Dekaney High School. The Dekaney Wildcats finished the 2023 season 8-3 with a loss to Oak Ridge in the 6A D2 state playoffs.

There are no Crystal Ball projections for Townsend at this time and there are no clear favorites to land him per On3.

Film Analysis: Townsend is a matchup nightmare for any defense that is unfortunate enough to line up against him.

Auburn offers 4-star tight end Nick Townsend

Auburn is looking for a second tight end to pair with Ryan Ghea in the 2025 recruiting class.

Auburn’s tight end coach [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag] has already landed three-star tight end [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag] in the 2025 recruiting cycle but he is not done.

The Tigers are trying to add some youth to the room after not signing a high school prospect in either of the past two classes and are looking to land multiple tight ends.

A new target emerged Friday night when he extended an offer to four-star prospect [autotag]Nick Townsend[/autotag]. The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder is from Houston, Texas, and has over 20 offers already, including ones from Texas, Ole Miss, Alabama and more.

Townsend is the No. 140 overall player and No. 4 athlete in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 25 player from Texas.

Playing on both sides of the ball, Townsend had a great junior season for Dekaney High School. On offense, he caught 18 passes for 431 yards and seven touchdowns and rushed for two touchdowns on six carries. He was just as impressive on defense, making 76 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks and recovering three fumbles.
