Official weigh-ins for UFC 266 are now complete following Friday’s session. Check out our photo gallery and video highlights.

LAS VEGAS – The UFC 266 fight card is now official following Friday’s weigh-in session, where all 26 athletes scheduled to compete successfully hit the mark on the scale.

Saturday’s event takes place at T-Mobile Arena with a main card that airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPNNews and ESPN+. A pair of championship fights headline the card. [autotag]Alexander Volkanovski[/autotag] (22-1 MMA, 9-0 UFC) will attempt to make his third featherweight title defense against [autotag]Brian Ortega[/autotag] (15-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) in the main event, while [autotag]Valentina Shevchenko[/autotag] (21-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) puts her women’s flyweight strap on the line for the sixth time against streaking challenger [autotag]Lauren Murphy[/autotag] (15-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC).

In addition, the card will feature the long-awaited, highly anticipated return of [autotag]Nick Diaz[/autotag] (26-9 MMA, 7-6 UFC), as he’s set to run it back with [autotag]Robbie Lawler[/autotag] (28-15 MMA, 13-9 UFC) in a rematch of a 2004 fight Diaz won by knockout.

Check out the weigh-in highlights in the video above, and a photo gallery from all of Friday’s happenings below.

UFC 266 video: Nick Diaz, Robbie Lawler on weight for Diaz’s comeback fight

Nick Diaz’s UFC 266 comeback fight vs. Robbie Lawler after nearly seven years away is official.

LAS VEGAS – After nearly seven years away, [autotag]Nick Diaz[/autotag]’s return to MMA is official for UFC 266.

Diaz (26-9 MMA, 7-6 UFC) and former welterweight champion [autotag]Robbie Lawler[/autotag] (28-15 MMA, 13-9 UFC) both successfully made weight for their middleweight matchup Friday morning at the official weigh-ins.

Diaz, who spent the bulk of his career at welterweight until he moved to middleweight to fight Anderson Silva in 2015, was 185.5 pounds. Lawler fought at middleweight for nearly 10 years before returning to welterweight in 2013. He weighed in at 184 pounds.

Diaz has not fought since a loss to Silva in January 2015. That loss was overturned to a no contest when both fighters failed drug tests. Lawler has lost five of six fights starting with a knockout loss to Tyron Woodley in 2016 in which he lost the welterweight title.

Diaz and Lawler are scheduled for a final staredown Friday at the UFC 266 ceremonial weigh-ins ahead of their featured bout Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

UFC 266’s main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPNews and ESPN+.

A pair of UFC titles are on the line when the UFC returns to pay-per-view Saturday.

UFC 266 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPNews and early prelims on ESPN+.

(Click here to open a PDF of the staff picks grid in a separate window.)

In the main event, featherweight champion [autotag]Alexander Volkanovski[/autotag] (22-1 MMA, 9-0 UFC) takes on challenger [autotag]Brian Ortega[/autotag] (15-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC). Volkanovski is a -190 favorite at Tipico. And only one of our 13 editors, writers, radio hosts and videographers is picking the +145 underdog Ortega to pull the upset.

In the co-feature, women’s flyweight champ [autotag]Valentina Shevchenko[/autotag] (21-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) is a massive -1800 favorite against challenger [autotag]Lauren Murphy[/autotag] (15-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC). Not surprisingly, Shevchenko is one of two unanimous picks on our main card.

Also on the main card, [autotag]Nick Diaz[/autotag] (26-9 MMA, 7-6 UFC) returns for the first time in nearly seven years to take on former welterweight champ [autotag]Robbie Lawler[/autotag] (28-15 MMA, 13-9 UFC) in a rematch at middleweight. Lawler is a -155 favorite, but he’s only got a 7-6 lead in the picks.

Our other unanimous pick is at heavyweight. [autotag]Curtis Blaydes[/autotag] (14-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC) is a -340 favorite against [autotag]Jairzinho Rozenstruik[/autotag] (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC), and he pitched a 13-0 shutout in the picks.

And to open the main card, former women’s strawweight champ [autotag]Jessica Andrade[/autotag] (21-9 MMA, 12-7 UFC) is a -270 favorite at flyweight against [autotag]Cynthia Calvillo[/autotag] (9-2-1 MMA, 6-2-1 UFC). Andrade has a big 10-3 lead in the picks.

In the MMA Junkie reader consensus picks, Volkanovski (58 percent), Shevchenko (95 percent), Diaz (61 percent), Blaydes (71 percent) and Andrade (80 percent) are the choices.

Dana White responds to Nick Diaz’s desire to fight Kamaru Usman: ‘An idiot would make that fight’

Dana White thinks it’s absurd for Nick Diaz to ask for UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

Dana White thinks it’s absurd for [autotag]Nick Diaz[/autotag] to ask for UFC welterweight champion [autotag]Kamaru Usman[/autotag].

In a recent interview with ESPN, Diaz (26-9 MMA, 7-6 UFC) said whoever put together his Robbie Lawler rematch for UFC 266 on Saturday is an “idiot” and that he should be fighting Usman, instead.

But White, who’s very high on Usman (19-1 MMA, 14-0 UFC), said 38-year-old Diaz returning from a layoff of nearly seven years to challenge Usman would make no sense.

“You think he should be fighting Kamaru Usman?” White told Yahoo Sports. “You know what I’ve been saying lately: Kamaru Usman is the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world, OK? (He beat Jorge) Masvidal twice, Gilbert Burns, Tyron Woodley, (Rafael dos Anjos), Demian Maia, Leon Edwards. I mean, the list of guys that this guy has beaten is unbelievable, and the way that he beat them.

“He’s the world champion in that division and he’s the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. Does anybody out there think that that’s who Nick Diaz should come back and fight after not fighting for seven years? That would be an idiot that would make that fight.”

Diaz knocked Lawler out in their first meeting at UFC 47, which took place in 2004. The superstar from Stockton, Calif., hasn’t competed since a decision loss-turned no contest against Anderson Silva in January 2015 and his return doesn’t seem to be a one-off thing. Diaz said he intends on competing more, especially if he gets his “ass whooped” by Lawler.

Georges St-Pierre relates to Nick Diaz’s pre-UFC 266 comments: ‘I hate fighting as well’

Ahead of UFC 266, Nick Diaz questioned his place in fighting – something former foe Georges St-Pierre says he relates to.

LAS VEGAS – When [autotag]Nick Diaz[/autotag] made comments days prior to UFC 266 which questioned his interest in fighting, it turned some heads.

But UFC Hall of Famer [autotag]Georges St-Pierre[/autotag] completely understands where his ex-foe is coming from. Ahead of his induction ceremony Thursday, St-Pierre related to what Diaz feels and spoke bluntly on the matter.

“I can relate to that,” St-Pierre said to reporters including MMA Junkie. “I hate fighting as well. I hate it. I did it because I used it as a benchmark to get me to where I want to get to in life. I don’t like fighting. It’s the worst day of my life the day that I fight, but I used that to get me a life because I have the freedom, the health, the fitness, the wealth, the access of things that other people do not have. There’s a lot of good advantages, but you need to pay the price sometimes (or) a few times a year if you want to be a fighter among the elite.”

At UFC 158 in June 2013, St-Pierre successfully defended his welterweight title against Diaz in the pay-per-view main event. The fisticuffs followed months of build-up, which included classic Diaz trash talk. While they’ve never been best friends, St-Pierre voiced respect and hope about Diaz’s upcoming UFC 266 fight vs. Robbie Lawler scheduled for Saturday.

“Would he come back as good as he was or this layoff would it have a significant impact on him? I don’t know,” St-Pierre said. “I just hope that he will come back as good as he (was). I’m afraid he left a lot of money on the table and I hope I’m wrong. I hope he comes back even better than he was and he goes for a shot for the title. I’m a huge fan. I really enjoy watching him fight.”

St-Pierre, 40, has not competed since UFC 217 in November 2017 when he submitted Michael Bisping to earn the UFC middleweight championship at Madison Square Garden in New York. Although briefly linked to a possible UFC superfight against Khabib Nurmagomedov and a Triller boxing match against Oscar De La Hoya, St-Pierre has not otherwise indicated he’s looking to compete against others any time soon.

UFC 266 takes place Saturday at T-Mobile Arena. The main card streams on ESPN+ pay-per-view after prelims on ESPN News/ESPN+.

Nick Diaz’s star power evident ahead of UFC 266, though he ‘wasn’t ready for all of the extra attention’

At the UFC 266 news conference, Nick Diaz showed his appreciation for the support and discussed his fighting future.

LAS VEGAS – Throughout his career, there has always been much ado any time [autotag]Nick Diaz[/autotag] stepped on a stage for a press event. Will he show up? Will he bail? Will he present more thoughts than just a couple of “yes” or “no” answers?

Diaz’s interviews have never been standard. In fact, they have been the furthest thing from it – and could be one of the reasons fight fans still adore him after all these years. Even after six years away from the cage, that adoration was still there for Diaz (26-9 MMA, 7-6 UFC) as he walked on stage Thursday at the UFC 266 pre-fight news conference opposite opponent Robbie Lawler.

“I feel good,” Diaz said, in his opening remarks when asked by MMA Junkie lead reporter John Morgan about being back and the reception he received.

Mid-answer, Diaz, who has had a rocky relationship with mixed martial arts as a whole and the attention it brings him, smiled – a somewhat rare occurrence for him, at least in the spotlight. “I feel real good. It’s good to see everybody,” Diaz said, as he gave a wave.

Throughout the rest of the news conference, Diaz remained relatively short and sweet with his answers, though was asked more questions than anyone else up on the stage including the two UFC titleholders.

When it comes to Diaz, oftentimes his interviews show a mix of emotions, thoughts, and feelings toward the fight game. That was the case Wednesday during an interview with ESPN where he questioned his scheduled participation in Saturday’s event.

So, does Diaz like fighting, or is it just something he feels obligated to do? What does the future hold?

Diaz provided some clarity.

“I definitely want to do this more often, especially if I get my ass whooped,” Diaz said. “If I get my ass whooped, I want to come back right away. If I get my ass whooped, I’ll come right back.'”

Taking him at his word, Diaz appreciates the love and support from the fans – and there’s a lot of it. He likes martial arts, a hobby-turned-profession he’s partaken in for decades. So what it is about Diaz that causes complicated feelings?

“It’s just that I had three-to-five fights a year for 17 years or so,” Diaz said. “All I ever thought about was weight (and) ‘What am I going to eat?’ After a while, you realize there’s more to life. … Then, everybody digs their heels in you when you’re down. It’s kind of rough. It’s nice to see a lot of support, like, two weeks leading up to a fight. But ‘What about the last five years?’ is kind of how I feel.”

Regardless of his expression of how he feels at certain moments during fight week, Diaz is confident the fire will be lit under him when it comes time to throw down with a former UFC welterweight champion at UFC 266 – even with the unexpected level of attention that he’s generated this week.

“There were a few things, the way this fight got set up (or) lined up,” Diaz said. “Either way, it doesn’t make a difference. When I get someone in front of me, I seem to be right back. I’ve always trained with the best. I’ve always held my own with the best. I didn’t expect at this age to catch so much heat, so much expectation from everybody. It’s kind of hard. Before, I was just kind of used to saying hi and being happy with everybody. Now, all of a sudden, I’m going, ‘Wait, wait, wait.’ That’s all. I wasn’t ready for all of the extra attention and attention and attention.”

UFC 266 takes place Saturday at T-Mobile Arena. The main card streams on pay-per-view after prelims on ESPN News/ESPN+.

UFC fans crushed Max Kellerman and ESPN over embarrassing mistakes about Nick Diaz

This was a mess.

The legendary Nick Diaz is making his return to the Octagon on Saturday for the first time in more than six years as he’ll be taking on Robbie Lawler at UFC 266 in Las Vegas.

Diaz, who had a very honest and open interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto that you should go watch, is a fan favorite for so many reasons and everyone can’t wait to see him make that walk to Octagon once again.

Nick, of course, is the older brother of Nate Diaz, who is also a UFC star who is beloved by fans.

Well, Max Kellerman had Dana White on his ESPN show this week to talk about Nick Diaz’s fight and things did not go well. First, Kellerman seemed to say Nate instead of Nick and then the production crew showed footage of Nate Diaz fighting instead of Nick Diaz fighting.

This was rough:

Yikes.

UFC fans had reactions:
