Report: Bengals release Cordy Glenn after attempting to find trade partner

The Bengals have finally parted ways with offensive tackle Cordy Glenn.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news Friday and noted the team attempted to find a trade partner.
As we noted, the Bengals couldn’t expect much from a trade. His recent saga with the Bengals was an odd one, as a reported confrontation with the coaching staff led to a suspension and fine.
The Bengals tried to trade Glenn at the deadline but his $9.5 million cap number and fizzling out with two different teams led to little traction. Same deal here.
Cincinnati has 2019 first-round pick Jonah Williams returning to play left tackle and could address both guard spots and right tackle in free agency or the draft

Report: Chargers franchise tag TE Hunter Henry

The Chargers have placed the franchise tag on tight end Hunter Henry, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
The tag, which will keep him around for one more season, will cost approximately $11 million in 2020.
The 25-year old missed one game as a rookie in 2016 and then two games in 2017 before he suffered a season-ending knee injury in 2018.
He had his most productive season in 2019, but he sustained another knee injury that kept him out for a few games, drawing some durability concerns.
When healthy, he is easily one of the league’s top tight ends. He’s averaging 8.9 yards per target and has 17 touchdowns in 41 games

Broncos place 1-year franchise tag on Justin Simmons

The Broncos have placed a one-year franchise tag on safety Justin Simmons, the team announced Friday.
The league has not yet announced franchise tag values for 2020 but tags for safeties are expected to be worth about $11.6 million.
Denver still wants to sign Simmons to a long-term contract extension — tagging him simply means he can’t negotiate with other teams.
We’re kind of [being optimistic] because of in the past when the Broncos have used a tag and Elway’s used it, they’ve always worked out a longterm deal. So we’re pretty confident that we’ll be able to work something out, Broncos safety Justin Simmons.
In 16 games for Denver last year, the 26-year-old tallied 93 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 4 interceptions, and 15 passes defended

Tennessee Titans release OLB Cameron Wake

The Titans have released outside linebacker Cameron Wake, according to Jim Wyatt of Titans Online.
Wake signed a three-year, $23 million contract with Tennessee last March. The Titans will save about $5.5 million in 2020 by releasing him.
Wake played in just nine games in his first season with the Titans and totaled just 2.5 sacks, all of which came in the Week 1 win over the Browns.
Wake was placed on Injured Reserve in November, ending his season early. With doubts about his future viability at the age of 38, the writing was on the wall that he could be cut this offseason
