Las Vegas at Kansas City Game Preview

Why Las Vegas Will Win

Everyone wants to crown Kansas City as “back” and about to be that team to beat again now that it’s on a five-game winning streak. It’s sort of back. The offense isn’t.

It’s productive, and it’s getting the job done, but the running game continues to be spotty as the defense is getting the job done time and again with a whole lot of takeaways.

For all of its problems, Las Vegas has been okay with the mistakes over the last few weeks. The offense rolled in the overtime win over Dallas, the defense plays a tough game in the loss to Washington, and there’s a good shot at keeping this close as long as Patrick Mahomes and the passing game continue to try recreating the impossible instead of simply getting things moving.

However …

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 14

Why Kansas City Will Win

Yeah, the offense hasn’t been anything special over the last several weeks, failing to score more than 22 points in five of the last six games. That one outlier, though …

Kansas City 41, Las Vegas 14.

The Chiefs got on a roll fast and didn’t stop in the blowout in mid-November. Mahomes looked like Mahomes, everything clicked, and it was an easy win over a team that’s been playing over the last five weeks like it absorbed way too many body blows.

Yeah, there was the Raider win over Dallas, but the offense failed to score more than 16 points in four of the last five games. Now it goes against a defense that’s turning into a monster.

NFL Week 14 Schedules, Predictions

What’s Going To Happen

It might not be like everyone was expecting, but the Chiefs really are finding their groove.

The offense is fine. It’s not otherworldly like we’ve all come to expect, but that’s okay as long as the turnovers and mistakes are coming in waves like they did over the first half of the season.

Just score a few times, don’t screw up, and the rising defense will take care of the rest.

All of the CFN NFL Predictions

Jacksonville at Tennessee Game Preview

Why Jacksonville Will Win

The Titan offense has fallen flat over the last few weeks.

It can’t be blamed on playing New England’s great defense two weeks ago – it’s been a problem for a month. Even when it did work – like when it rolled up over 400 yards against Houston – the turnovers kicked in.

The Titans have given it up nine times over the last two games and haven’t hit 360 yards of total offense in four of the last five outings.

Jacksonville might not be dominating defensively, but that’s not necessarily the issue right now. If Tennessee keeps making mistakes, the Jaguars have a shot, but …

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 14

Why Tennessee Will Win

Jacksonville doesn’t take the ball away.

The famous Josh Allen-on-Josh Allen crime day against Buffalo was a mirage. There were three takeaways in that, and a total of three the rest of the season.

But that’s not the problem.

Tennessee’s offense is struggling. Jacksonville’s offense has gone bye-bye.

The turnovers keep flowing – there are way too many fumbles – and the offense just isn’t scoring enough with 17 points or fewer in the last six games.

NFL Week 14 Schedules, Predictions

What’s Going To Happen

Tennessee will get a big break at the right time. It had a week off to rest up, Jacksonville is coming off a trip to Los Angeles as part of a run of four road games in the next five weeks, and this is when things get back on track.

The Titans won’t screw up to matter on offense, and the defense will hold up against the run from the start.

Baltimore at Cleveland Game Preview

Why Baltimore Will Win

The Raven offense didn’t exactly rock the first time around and the team still won.

The running game sputtered, Lamar Jackson threw four picks, and it was a 16-10 Baltimore win thanks to a Raven defense that didn’t allow the Browns to move the chains or do anything to control the clock.

With its ground attack and lack of big play ability, owning the time of possession battle is a huge deal, and Cleveland – who had the ball for just 23 minutes two weeks ago – won’t be able to do it.

There might be issues for the Ravens, but the run defense leads the NFL, it hasn’t allowed over 100 rushing yards in a month, and …

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 14

Why Cleveland Will Win

Baltimore isn’t exactly humming.

Lamar Jackson might be brilliant, and dangerous, and amazing when he gets the chance to make things happen, but he’s not getting enough help from his depleted running back corps and there’s not enough consistently happening with the downfield passing game.

Cleveland might be sputtering along, but it had two weeks off and a key time to rest up. The defense has to keep forcing mistakes – Baltimore isn’t winning this time around if it turns it over four times again – and it’s just going to have to battle it out in a grind against an offense that hasn’t scores more than 20 points in five of its last six games.

That fits the Brown style.

NFL Week 14 Schedules, Predictions

What’s Going To Happen

Few teams needed a week off more than Cleveland, but Baltimore should come out fired up after the painful misfire loss to Pittsburgh last week.

It’s not just that Cleveland was able to rest up. It’s that it got two weeks to prepare for the team it just played – and a team that’s sputtering and coughing a bit too much offensively.

There won’t be anything pretty about this, but the Browns are back at home for just the second time since Halloween. It’ll scratch out a low-scoring game with a big defensive hold in the final moments.

All of the CFN NFL Predictions

Pittsburgh at Minnesota Game Preview

Why Pittsburgh Will Win

Minnesota lost to Detroit. There’s obviously a problem.

The Vikings can’t seem to do anything easy. It’s unbelievable how every game – every game – comes down to something dramatic. That’s fine against the better teams, but the inability of the secondary to hold up in key situations, the lack of a steady pass rush, and the problems putting games away are coming back to bite them.

Pittsburgh is one of those mediocre teams that could use the other side keeping both teams in the game.

The Steelers got the passing game going a bit more effectively over the last few games. The turnovers weren’t there in the win over Baltimore. The defense was able to toughen up against the run, and this week the ground game might actually work.

Najee Harris is being focus Nos. 1, 2, and 3 of every defensive game plan – everyone is forcing Ben Roethlisberger to win games – but the Vikings are getting hammered up front.

Keep pushing the ground attack, and things will pop open.

Speaking of running games …

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 14

Why Minnesota Will Win

Yeah, Baltimore wasn’t able to get rolling with its ground game like it normally does, but the Steelers usually give up rushing yards in chunks.

Detroit ran for well over 200 yards. The Chargers ran wild – when the weren’t busy throwing it all over the yard – and Joe Mixon wore the Pittsburgh defense as a hat in Cincinnati’s 41-10 blowout win a few weeks ago.

After the embarrassment against Detroit, the Vikings will likely just keep this simple. Start running with Alexander Mattison, let the offensive line take over and control the tempo, and then let everything open up from there for Kirk Cousins and a downfield passing game that isn’t making any big mistakes.

Coming up with yards hasn’t been a problem for the Vikings, and it won’t be an issue this week. However …

NFL Week 14 Schedules, Predictions

What’s Going To Happen

Can the Vikings score?

The offense went off for way 426 yards against Detroit, turnovers weren’t an issue, and moving the sticks wasn’t a problem. It still wasn’t enough because the defense couldn’t hold on.

Expect both running games to take over right away, watch for Najee Harris to finally get a run of more than ten yards without getting blasted first, and see the Vikings overcome the loss to Detroit with a balanced performance and a win.

It’s Minnesota, though. It’ll come down to the last few moments.

5. Tennessee at Jacksonville

LINE: Tennessee -7.5
ATS PICK: Tennessee
Bet on this, BetMGM latest line

Pick against Jacksonville at your own risk.

The Jaguars haven’t been all that bad with Mike Glennon at the helm, the running game has worked, and the defense has been just good enough to hold  on. With Glennon in, the Jags lost to Cleveland by two and in overtime to Minnesota by a field goal.

Now they’re at home against a Tennessee team that just got ripped apart by Cleveland.

Call that a foreseeable clunker.

The Titans have been going full bore for weeks with two games against Indianapolis and an overtime battle at Baltimore and Cleveland came out smoking in a 41-35 win.

The Titans only beat Jacksonville by three at home in Week 2, so why like them by 7.5?

The Jaguar run defense has been awful. It was bad then, it’s struggling even more now, and Tennessee is coming off a shockingly bad game on the ground with just 62 yards. The three turnovers had something to do with it.

It’s all a long-winded way of saying that last week won’t happen twice in a row.
