The worst defensive players in Tampa Bay’s win over Tennessee, per PFF

Pro Football Focus didn’t love the performance of these five players despite a dominant defensive game on Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers boasted a strong defensive showing in Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans. And while almost every defensive player had a strong showing, not all of them did.

The Bucs were able to get pressure on quarterback Will Levis consistently and stifle the run game entirely, holding the Titans to just six points. And while there were quite a few stars from that performance, there were a small few defensive players who arguably didn’t contribute to standard once the clock hit zero on Sunday. Pro Football Focus graded every Bucs defensive player who took a snap, and they didn’t look favorably on some of them.

Here are the five worst-graded defensive players from Tampa Bay’s Week 10 win:

Lions film study: What I learned from the Week 10 win over the Chargers

Here’s what Lions Wire’s Jeff Risdon learned from the film review of the Lions win over the Chargers in Week 10.

Film study sessions are always a lot more fun when the Detroit Lions are coming off a win. The 41-38 thriller over the Chargers tested that proclamation a bit.

Detroit’s road win in Week 10 should have been by a much bigger margin. That was clear from watching the game live the first time. The breakdown on All-22 and another refresher on the broadcast feed reinforced that overarching takeaway. The film breakdown took some interesting turns in this one.

Thanks to a glitch in the NFL’s app, the film study got delayed a bit; watching the same second-quarter play on loop was fun for a minute or two, but not six hours. Better late than never!

Here’s what I learned from the film review of the Lions win over the Chargers in Week 10.

Bucs Report Card: How we graded Tampa Bay’s win over the Titans in Week 10

The Bucs may have beat the Titans by 16 points, but there are still areas that need work alongside the improvements made on Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finally shook off their four-game losing streak with a big win over the Tennessee Titans.

Tampa Bay generally controlled the game from start to finish and won by 16 points in a 20-6 victory over the Titans. There were some notable adjustments on the offense and the defensive side of the ball and good things overall managed to happen, but it wasn’t a perfect game from the Bucs despite the favorable result at the end of things.

We graded Tampa Bay’s offense, defense, special teams and coaching from Sunday, and you can check out how we scored things below.

Where the Bucs rank statistically after Week 10

The Bucs defense did good work to even out their statistical rankings Sunday, but there are still plenty of areas for improvement.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers vastly tilted their statistical rankings backward after a bad loss to the Houston Texans, but they brought it right back after a big win over the Tennessee Titans.

The Bucs won 20-6 on Sunday against the Titans, showcasing a dominant defensive performance. The offense was still a little rocky, but it got the job done and found the end zone twice in the victory. The defense played much better than they did last Sunday, limiting pass yards and rushing attack from the Titans get the victory at home.

Here’s where the Bucs stand statistically with the rest of the league, per Team Rankings:

Five of Tampa Bay’s six active edge rushers appeared in PFF’s top 10 against the Titans.

It took a bit, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were back to their dominant ways on the defensive side of the ball Sunday.

Tampa Bay held the Tennessee Titans to just six points across the board, severely limiting both the run game and the passing game and not allowing the Titans to score a single touchdown in Raymond James Stadium. It was a particularly good day for the pass rushers in the eyes of Pro Football Focus, as five of the six EDGE players who got reps in the game appeared in the top 10 of their defensive rankings.

The Bucs got their overall second-worst grade of the year from PFF despite beating the Titans by almost three possessions.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are back in the win column, and while the offense put up 20 points, not everyone was impressed with their performance on Sunday.

The Bucs beat the Tennessee Titans 20-6, but Pro Football Focus gave the team a 59.5 grade overall — the team’s second-lowest grade all year despite the victory. While that seems a little much, given how bad some of the Bucs’ losses were, there’s some merit to the notion that the offense underperformed. That doesn’t mean that there weren’t players that showed out, though.

OT George Fant explains confidence Texans have in QB C.J. Stroud late in games

Tackle George Fant detailed how the Houston Texans have confidence in rookie C.J. Stroud in late game situations.

Houston Texans offensive lineman George Fant knew precisely what was about to happen when the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd dropped a touchdown pass on third down from quarterback Joe Burrow, which forced them to have to kick a field goal to tie the game with less than 1:50 left in the fourth quarter.

“Cincinnati went in, and they didn’t get a touchdown for whatever reason, and right away, I knew it was that time again,” said Fant to the Texans Wire.

The Deja’ Vu that Fant speaks of occurred just one week prior when the Texans found themselves in a similar situation against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Trailing 37-33 with 46 seconds on the clock and needing a touchdown to win the game, rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud drove his team down the field and hit his fellow rookie wide receiver Tank Dell in the back of the end zone for the eventual game-winning touchdown.

This time, the Texans only needed to get into field goal range to win the game in front of a hostile Bengals fanbase and superstar quarterback Joe Burrow on the sidelines, salivating for one more chance to be the “Hero of Ohio.”

Unfortunately for Burrow, who started his collegiate career at Ohio State before transferring to LSU, he had to watch the former Buckeyes quarterback come back to the state he called home for three years and put his team in position to win the game as Stroud drove the Texans into scoring position. Free agent kicker Matt Ammendola, who was signed to the team after kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn went on injured reserve this week, kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired.

“I was telling the guys, you know what time it is,” Fant told his teammates about Stroud having the ball last. “It felt great having that confidence going on the field knowing you are about to win. There are no ifs, and, or buts about it. It was definitely that type of moment for us.”

After two crushing losses to the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers on time-expiring field goals, the Texans needed these last two weeks to help the team build confidence.
“These are the wins you have to have,” said Fant in the visiting locker room. “If you want to make it to the playoffs, you have to have these wins.”

GALLERY: Shots from Tampa Bay’s win over Tennessee

Here are some of our favorite shots from Tampa Bay’s win against the Titans on Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have their Victory Monday for the first time in four weeks.

The team beat the Titans 20-6 on Sunday, getting within half a game back of the NFC South. Morale was up after a dominant performance by the defense and some scoring by the offense, and you can check out some of our favorite shots from the game down below.

NFC North roundup: Lions remain leaders of the pride in Week 10

The Lions remain the head of the pride that is the NFC North while everyone else continues to play catchup in the 2023 campaign.

The NFC North had a great week in the NFL and was a part of some of the best spots of the NFL schedule. Storylines, great performances, pivotal calls, this week had it all and each team was affected in their own unique way.

The division went 2-2 on the weekend with the Lions and Vikings winning in dramatic fashion. Meanwhile, the Packers fell victim to a controversial call and the Bears couldn’t find the trick that Matt Eberfleus had up his sleeve.

The division rankings remained unchanged at the top but below the Lions, chaos continues to be king.

Texans trust rookie QB C.J. Stroud in close games

The Houston Texans have shown a willingness to saddle up their rookie quarterback when the going gets tough in close games.

For the second straight week, the Houston Texans needed a game-winning drive, and in as many weeks, the team was not hesitant to put the game in the hands of their rookie quarterback.

C.J. Stroud mounted a six-play, 55-yard drive to put kicker Matt Ammendola in position to kick the walk-off, 31-yard field goal. Houston dusted the Cincinnati Bengals 30-27 and left Paycor Stadium with a 5-4 record, their first winning record nine games into a season since 2019.

Stroud revealed after the game what his teammates connoted on the sidelines ahead of the Texans’ final drive.

“They look me in the eye and they’re like, ‘We trust you with this moment,'” Stroud said. “And that means a lot to me from left to right. A lot of meaningful ball has been played on different teams and this team.”

The 2022 Texans were in eight games decided by one score or less — nine if fudging the definition to account for the Week 1 tie with the Indianapolis Colts. Houston posted a 3-5-1 record. With Stroud under center, the Texans are 3-2 in such games.

“I think they were saying last year there were eight or nine games that came down to the wire like that, so, the hope that we have in two-minute drill, that really goes to our coaching and our playmakers,” said Stroud. “We do two-minute drills every Wednesday and just trying to get that down, because a lot of these games are won in two-minute. My linemen, we don’t move at all like I told you last week because it’s a focus point of our team. My linemen had a great game.”

Stroud finished the game going 23-of-39 for 356 yards, a touchdown, and an interception along with an 8-yard rushing touchdown. The Texans take on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 11 at NRG Stadium.
