Bengals to finally add rookie RB with UDFA Elijah Collins

The Bengals head to undrafted free agency to find help at running back.

To the surprise of some, the Cincinnati Bengals didn’t add a running back with one of their 10 selections in the 2024 NFL draft.

But it turns out they have undrafted free agency for that.

According to Bleacher Report’s Ryan Fowler, the Bengals have an agreement in place with Oklahoma State’s Elijah Collins, who is fresh off one Super Senior season at Oklahoma State. Prior to that, he spent four seasons at Michigan State, earning a Team Captain slot in 2022.

Collins, 6’0″ and 220 pounds, will battle over the summer for a spot on the depth chart behind Zack Moss and Chase Brown.

Undrafted signings aren’t official until the team announces them.

Bengals to sign undrafted free agent WR Cole Burgess

Another notable undrafted free agent signing for the Bengals.

The Cincinnati Bengals only drafted one wide receiver in the 2024 NFL draft, but have been known to make headway at the position in undrafted free agency most years.

SUNY wide receiver Cole Burgess might just be the next name to prove that idea true.

Not long after the draft ended, SUNY revealed that Burgess will sign with the Bengals.

That means the arrival of a 6’0″, 200-pound target who could carve out a niche for himself in the slot as the Bengals move to a post-Tyler Boyd era.

Bengals to give undrafted free agent LB $15K signing bonus

The Bengals are opening up the checkbook for an undrafted free agent.

The Cincinnati Bengals didn’t address the linebacker position over the course of their 10 selections in the 2024 NFL draft.

Perhaps that was by design.

According to The Draft Network’s Justin Melo, the Bengals will give Wisconsin linebacker Maema Njongmeta a $15,000 signing bonus to sign.

Any sort of cash bonus for an undrafted free agent is notable for the fact it speaks to the team’s level of interest. And with Njongmeta, it makes sense — he tallied 150-plus tackles and 6.5 sacks over the last two seasons in college.

Bengals find Brad Robbins some competition in undrafted free agency

The Bengals will add an undrafted free agent to compete in a punter battle this summer.

The Cincinnati Bengals didn’t use a draft pick on a punter despite having 10 selections in the 2024 NFL draft.

But perhaps that’s because they knew their guy would be there in undrafted free agency.

After the draft concluded, Texas Tech announced that Austin McNamara will head to the Bengals, meaning the team gets a punter who averaged 45.91 yards per attempt over five years.

The move clears the way for a battle with Brad Robbins this summer, whose underwhelming 2023 campaign made the position a need this draft season.

As always, undrafted signings aren’t official until the team announces them.

Former Penn State wide receiver named Commanders’ most exciting UDFA addition

The Commanders have two undrafted wide receivers who have a shot at making the team in 2023.

[connatix div_id=”3f8b015acdd24c648befc5d5dac47469″ player_id=”afe1e038-d3c2-49c0-922d-6511a229f69c” cid=”7cbcea0d-4ce2-4c75-9a8d-fbe02a192c24″]

The Washington Commanders, despite having an outstanding group of wide receivers led by Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson and Curtis Samuel, could have a couple of roster spots up for grabs at the position this summer in training camp.

Gone is Cam Sims. Sims was with the Commanders for several years as a key special teams performer and always delivering when his number was called on offense. He signed with the Raiders in March.

Washington signed Marcus Kemp from the Kansas City Chiefs and return Dax Milne, a 2021 seventh-round selection. Dyami Brown appears safe as Washington’s No. 4 wide receiver, meaning the Commanders could keep two more receivers ahead of Week 1.

Milne and Kemp could fill those spots, but so could a pair of undrafted free agents. We’ve discussed Kazmeir Allen, who looks to be a top candidate to become Washington’s top returner ahead of Milne. However, we’ve also frequently mentioned former Penn State wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley, who also signed with the Commanders as a priority free agent.

Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report recently named each team’s most exciting undrafted free agent and picked Tinsley for the Commanders.

Taking a slot receiver out of Penn State worked well for the Commanders when they took Jahan Dotson last season. Why not give it another shot?

Dotson showcased some promise catching seven touchdowns as a rookie. Meanwhile, Western Kentucky transfer Mitchell Tinsley was taking over the role of slot receiver in Penn State’s offense.

Tinsley didn’t put up the same gaudy numbers. But he led the Nittany Lions with 51 receptions for 577 yards and five touchdowns.

It’s also worth noting he was prolific when playing with Bailey Zappe at Western Kentucky. He posted 87 receptions for 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Tinsley is a little on the small side at 6’0″, 199 pounds, but he is sudden in his breaks and showcased his agility with a 6.7 three-cone time. His ability to shake defenders with his route running should pave the way for him to make an impression in practices and battle for a roster spot.

Tinsley must prove he can contribute to special teams to earn a roster spot but don’t count him out.

Bengals undrafted free agency tracker

Here’s a look at a reported Cincinnati Bengals undrafted free agency tracker.

The Cincinnati Bengals started the 2020 NFL draft outright with Joe Burrow and end it on the hunt looking for undrafted free agents.

Zac Taylor’s Bengals made plenty of splashes last year in undrafted free agency with guys like Stanley Morgan, Jake Dolegala and even developmental guys like Keaton Sutherland.

This year’s undrafted class should be a little more interesting than usual. Teams stuck with guys they had more data on due to the all-virtual format and upcoming camps will be virtual too. There should be big talent available on the open market.

Here is a look at reported Bengals undrafted free-agent signings.

Note: These are unofficial. None of these signings will become official until confirmed by the team.
