Lamar Jackson performs best when Ravens call their “quick-pass” plays

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is a rhythm passer that becomes increasingly accurate when the offensive tempo is fluid.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is a rhythm passer that becomes increasingly accurate when the offensive tempo is fluid.

To counter the blitz this season, the Ravens will want to use the quick pass to back defenses out of man coverage. With opponents likely to crowd the line of scrimmage to stop the run, Jackson will need his wide receivers to win on quick routes (drags, slants, outs, & screens) and avoid getting jammed at the line of scrimmage.

The Ravens were sacked 41 times last season yet had the second-fewest pass attempts in the NFL.

The Ravens’ offensive line is currently being reconstructed, with rookie offensive tackle Josh Rosengarten as a player to watch for in 2024.

With this, offensive coordinator Todd Monken should use the deep pass sparingly, especially until he knows the potential of his offensive line.

Using the quick pass game effectively will force opponents to back off the line of scrimmage. Once the quick pass game ignites, running back Derrick Henry, Justice Hill, and Jackson can have their way in the ground game.

Ravens’ linebacker Kyle Van Noy says he’s felt “under-appreciated” for most his career

Ravens’ linebacker Kyle Van Noy says he’s felt “under-appreciated” for most of his NFL career

Outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy is thrilled to be returning to the Baltimore Ravens this upcoming season. Having played 11 years in the NFL, the Super Bowl Champion Van Noy relishes the opportunity to be a part of such a positive franchise.

Van Noy rallied nine total sacks last season, operating on and off the line of scrimmage. Van Noy’s versatility is vital to the Ravens’ defensive attack, which frequently uses twist concepts and pre-snap deception to confuse the opposing offensive and their pass-block scheme.

Van Noy claims he felt “underappreciated” by other teams to the Ravens’ press earlier this month. Van Noy claimed that his ability to cover skill players in the past and by a force as a pass rusher should’ve made him a a hotter commodity. Fortunately enough, the franchise he is currently signed to understands his talents and helped him record a career-high in sacks last year.

Van Noy is excited about playing under new defensive coordinator Zach Orr and has enjoyed building relationships with young players like all-pro safety Kyle Hamilton. Van Noy signed a two-year $9 million extension with earlier this spring. Perhaps the Ravens appreciate Van Noy more than other teams did.

Every NFL teams’ single-season sack leader since 1982

Myles Garrett set the Cleveland Browns’ single-season sack record. Here is a look at the other single-season sack record holders across the NFL

Myles Garrett was able to make Cleveland Browns history with his 1.0 sack in the 24-22 victory over the Baltimore Ravens Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The former 2017 No. 1 overall pick was able to reach 15.0 sacks on the year, which sets a new single-season record in Browns history. And Garrett did it in Week 14, which means he didn’t need a 17th game to do it.

With four games to go, it is conceivable Garrett adds to that total and possibly enters into the twenties.

Here is a look at the other NFL teams and their single-season sack record holders. Keep in mind the criterion for this list only includes sacks since 1982, as that was the first year that the NFL kept sacks as an official statistic.
