USA TODAY predicts ‘rough ride’ for Panthers in 2020

Looking ahead, the Panthers appear to be one of the weakest teams in the league this year, at least on paper.

Matt Rhule and Marty Hurney won’t call it a rebuild. Whatever you want to call it though, it’s undeniable the Panthers are entering a transitional period going into the 2020 NFL season. After going 5-11 last year, the team has lost several key pieces on both sides of the ball, incuding their two best players in Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly.

Looking ahead, the Panthers appear to be one of the weakest teams in the league this year, at least on paper.

The folks at USA TODAY seem to agree but they’re a lot more bearish on this group than we are. According to national NFL writer Nate Davis, Carolina will only go 3-13 this season.

“New coach with limited NFL experience (Matt Rhule). New playbooks on both sides of the ball. New quarterback with six starts in the past four seasons (Teddy Bridgewater). No Luke Kuechly. Three divisional opponents who project as tough outs. Rough ride seems likely.”

It’s fair to predict a rough ride and nobody in their right mind thinks this team is going to the playoffs this year. However, 3-13 sounds just a bit too harsh. Talent-wise it will admittedly be tough for the Panthers to compete in a loaded NFC South division, especially with a very inexperienced defense going up against three future Hall of Fame quarterbacks.

Coaching counts for a lot, though.

If Matt Rhule, Joe Brady and Phil Snow are all as good as advertised and they really embrace modern ways of thinking they could upset “better” teams. Their passing offense in particular might be surprisingly potent under the guidance of an innovative, young play-caller.

Unless they get afflicted by a rash of injuries, we’re predicting a 6-10 finish in the regular season.

ESPN predicts 9-win season for the Falcons in 2020

Not only does the NFC South look tougher than ever, the team will face the AFC West and NFC North divisions.

After missing the playoffs for the second year in a row, the Atlanta Falcons‘ road back to the postseason in 2020 won’t be an easy one. Not only does the NFC South look tougher than ever, the team will face the AFC West and NFC North divisions.

The Falcons have been more active this offseason than last year as GM Thomas Dimitroff and head coach Dan Quinn desperately attempt to get this team over the hump and back into the NFC playoff picture.

ESPN released its record predictions for each team, projecting the Falcons to win nine games this season. Here’s an excerpt from the article:

The Falcons have a tough start out the gates in facing the Seahawks, Cowboys and Packers in the first four weeks. Both Seattle and Green Bay made the playoffs last season, and defending Russell Wilson, Dak Prescott, and Aaron Rodgers will be a tall task for the rebuilt Falcons’ defense.

Atlanta, despite having the fifth-toughest strength of schedule, probably needs to win at least ten games to make the playoffs as a wild-card team. Tampa Bay will be tougher than ever, while New Orleans has been the class of the NFC South over the past three years.

The Falcons will have to get off to a faster start than last season when they went 1-7 over their first eight games.

Titans at Colts Live Stream

The Tennesee Titans will travel to Indianapolis to take on the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium today. With both teams running the ball as of late expect a lot of ground and pound today with great defensive lines expect a low scoring affair.

NFL Football: Tennessee Titans (-1) at Indianapolis Colts

  • Date: Sunday, December 1st
  • Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. ET
  • TV Channel: CBS

Tennessee will look to establish the run game early against the Colts, they have been on absolute fire the last month where they have gone over the 200-yard mark twice. While Indianapolis struggled against the run early in the season they have held their opponents to under 100 yards over the last four games and will continue to put pressure on the offense upfront. This is looking to be a defensive battle and should a low scoring affair.

The Titans made the change at quarterback and haven’t looked back since. Benching Mariota in favor of Tannehill has been their key to success as of late. The Titans are number one in the red zone this year by cashing in on 72.41 percent of all drives. Look for both teams to run the ball and try to open up the pass today, the last time they played came down to one drive.

Prediction: I’d take the Titans (-1) in this one as they have been cruising along with their newfound quarterback, who’s putting up big numbers and establishing the RPO. I also expect this to be a low scoring game with how both teams are running the ball lately. Take the under (u42)
