Buffalo has to start running, keep running, and don’t stop pounding.

There’s a turnover issue – more on that in a moment – and the offense works best when Josh Allen is balancing things out with his big shots down the field, but the San Francisco secondary is getting strong again, it’s fourth in the NFL in pass D, and it’s coming off a game when it made Jared Goff of the Rams look silly.

The Bills are 5-0 when running for over 100 yards, and control in this will matter. The Rams had some success on the ground, even if most of it came from one Cam Akers run.  However …

Why San Francisco 49ers Will Win

Buffalo can’t give the ball away.

San Francisco is too inconsistent with its big defensive plays, but when it makes them happen, forget it.

New England was able to run wild on the Niners, and lost big because of four turnovers. The same went for the Giants, who also ran well but lost big because of three giveaways. Last week? The Rams turned it over four times.

Buffalo has turned it over at least once in every game but two, and it screwed up five times over the last two games – losing to Arizona and beating the Chargers – with mistakes.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

RB Zack Moss, Buffalo
Can the Bills get steady production out of any of its backs? Devin Singletary has been fine at times, and Josh Allen is the most dangerous runner, but Moss has the best overall pop – now he needs the work. He ran for three touchdowns over a two-game stretch after coming off an injury, but that was it. He’ll get the ball around the goal line, but in this, feed him 15 times and watch what happens.

What’s Going To Happen

Yeah, Buffalo has had a turnover problem at times, but San Francisco has a bigger one with 13 over the last five games. The defense was able to pick up the slack against the Rams, but that won’t happen this week.

A “home” game for San Francisco in name only, it’s being played in Arizona, it’ll have a strange feel, and Buffalo will come out physical from the start as it runs for 150 yards, dominates on third downs, and is a +2 in turnover margin.

The Washington defense continues to be terrific, and now the offense is picking it up, too.

The D is second in the NFL in first downs allowed, it’s been great at keeping the big pass plays to a minimum, and the run defense hasn’t allowed more than 70 yards in either of the last two games. The two takeaways in each of the last two help, too.

The emergence of Alex Smith and the running of Antonio Gibson have been a huge part of the two-game winning streak, there’s a decent enough balance to be versatile, and the team is great at capitalizing off of mistakes.

Why Pittsburgh Steelers Will Win

Whoopee. The Football Team rocked Cincinnati and Dallas – like that’s hard.

Pittsburgh might have lost star pass rusher Bud Dupree, but the big plays should be there for the NFL’s No. 1 pass defense and top D overall. The Baltimore game last week was an outlier for a slew of reasons, but even before that, the defense was able dominate with multiple takeaways in evert game but the wins over Houston and Tennessee.

Washington doesn’t turn the ball over often, but it’ll give it up a few times. The Steeler offense that’s sputtering a bit could use the help.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

RB Antonio Gibson, Washington
The former Memphis do-it-all star has turned into a No. 1 caliber franchise fantasy back over the last several weeks. Great around the goal line, he has eight touchdowns in his last five games with two 100-yard days during the stretch.

The Pittsburgh defense might be a rock, but it’ll give up rushing yards – four of the last five teams have torn off 129 yards or more.

What’s Going To Happen

There was a whole lot of bluster about how the team didn’t play all that well, and about how being 11-0 doesn’t matter when there are so many struggles running the ball, but Pittsburgh has the luxury of tweaking because it’s just that good.

The defense will keep Alex Smith from getting comfortable, Gibson will struggle to find room, and it’ll be a grind. The Steelers will struggle once again on the ground – they failed to hit 100 yards in five of the last six games – and they won’t do it this week. But the passing game will be more explosive than was against Baltimore, and there won’t be all the misfires and drops.

After missing a real NFL QB in last week’s abomination of a game against New Orleans, the offense should be able to bomb away a bit against a Kansas City secondary that’s been hit hard over the last few weeks. It clamped down hard on Lock in the first meeting – more on that in a moment – but it allowed 275 yards or more in each of the last three games.

Denver is a turnover machine.

Lock throws too many interceptions, there are too many fumbles, and the O leader the NFL with a whopping 26 giveaways. The Broncos have yet to go a game without a turnover – including four against KC – and with ten in the lsat three games.

The league’s No. 1 offense doesn’t need any breaks. Patrick Mahomes has been unstoppable lately for a passing game that’s hit 350 yards or more in each of the last four games, and to keep this interesting, the other side needs a massive game out of …

The scrutiny is now on Lock after missing last week and needing to make up for a rough day in the first game against Kansas City. The Chiefs brought the heat, and Lock threw two picks and now touchdown passes in the blowout loss.

He was cranking up the yards before missing last week, but he’s been an interception machine – the Chiefs don’t need the help. However, expect at least 250 yards and a few touchdowns as an interesting sleeper play in a shootout.

What’s Going To Happen

Denver will have a functioning offense again, but it won’t be nearly enough. The Broncos will get to Mahomes and knock him around a bit, but the Chief running game will work – watch out for LeVeon Bell to start doing more with Clyde Edwards-Helaire missing practice time this week sick – and the offense will keep the pressure on. Denver can’t and won’t keep up.

In a perfect world, Justin Herbert and the passing game get off to a hot start, Cam has to press, and then the mistakes start to come like they did earlier in the season.

Can the top back finally take the pressure off Herbert and give the team more of a running game? None of the running back options have been able to do much, and Ekeler is easing his way back into the fun after missing most of the year hurt.

He ran for for just 44 yards last week against Buffalo, and he only has one touchdown on the year, but for a team that needs the backs to do more, he could be a differentiating factor.

New England doesn’t win on style points, but it wins.

The Charger run defense might not get gouged, it’ll give up well over 100 yards, the Patriot defense will do a lot of bending, but not a lot of breaking, and Cam and company will be on the field long enough to take Herbert out of any rhythm.

He was hot early – highlighted with a three-touchdown day against Atlanta – and then he didn’t get one for five games before catching one in each of the last two games. He’ll at least get five targets, and he’s still going to be dangerous around the goal line.

Get ready for Jalen Hurts.

It’ll be the emergency options, but Wentz is going to struggle yet again for an offense that needs a spark. He won’t be sharp enough after the Packer balance rolls out to a big early lead. The Eagles will come up with a few late scores, but it’ll be way too late.

It’s assumed that Jones won’t be able to go, and while McCoy will be okay, the Giants won’t have enough offense overall to keep up once the Seahawks hit the home run.

Metcalf will disappear for most of the game, and then … boom. He’ll come up with two big second half catches to open things up and finally put away a strong Giant effort.

Last week against San Francisco he looked lost. It was the second time in three games he failed to throw a touchdown pass, and it was the second time against the 49ers he threw for just 198 yards. After all the scrutiny and criticism, this is his bounce back game. At least for the Rams’ season, it had better be.

The Rams aren’t playing San Francisco.

Kyler Murray hasn’t been quite right lately with a shoulder injury, and the team has hit a wall with three losses in the last four games.

This is going to be a shootout with the two quarterbacks trading big drive after big drive, with the Rams and Goff coming through late to pull it out in one of the best games of the day.

The Texans don’t have the running backs to balance out the attack, so it’s going to be Watson or bust, and Keke Coutee isn’t going to pick of the slack for one of the league’s most devastating deep threats.

The Colts will try to muscle past last week’s loss to the Titans right out of the gate – they’ll play far, far better.

Booker ran for three touchdown s in two games before seeing his role limited in the last two games. Now it’s Booker’s turn to carry the load.

What’s Going To Happen

This would normally be looking ahead to a showdown against Indianapolis and a three-game home stand as it tries to make a big push, but the 43-6 loss to Atlanta changed that.

It’ll keep this easy with a good balance, a whole lot of Booker, and a much tighter performance after all the problems turning it over last week.

Why Jacksonville Will Win

The Jaguars didn’t play all that poorly in the loss to Cleveland last week.

Mike Glennon looked and played like a competent NFL quarterback, the running game worked just fine, and there weren’t the turnovers like there had been throughout most of the season.
