67% of experts pick the Saints to end their losing streak vs. Seahawks in Week 5

Is the tide turning? 67% of experts are picking the Saints to end their losing streak against the Seahawks in Week 5, per NFL Pickwatch:

Will the New Orleans Saints end their three-game losing streak this week? A lot of NFL experts and fan blogs seem to think so. 67% of the hundreds of Week 5 game picks surveyed at NFL Pickwatch like the Saints at home rather than the visiting Seattle Seahawks, which seems notable for a couple of reasons. The football cognoscenti sided with New Orleans’ opponent a week ago, but after a heartbreaking last-minute loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the Saints are being seen in a new light. Maybe.

The Saints could sure use a win. Seattle is red-hot, having just scored more points in their Week 4 win (48) than in their first three games put together (47), and quarterback Geno Smith is enjoying a career renaissance to start the season. New Orleans is likely starting Andy Dalton under center again this week, and though he’ll be working with Alvin Kamara for the first time this season, he’s probably going to be without Michael Thomas. Hopefully Kamara and rookie standout Chris Olave can make his job a bit easier against a porous Seahawks defense.

As for other game picks around the NFC South: an overwhelming majority is siding with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (95%) at home against the visiting Atlanta Falcons, and there aren’t many brave or delusional enough to pick the Carolina Panthers (2%) in their home game with the San Francisco 49ers. But the experts have been wrong before, and they’ll be wrong again. Let’s just see if the Saints can prove them right on Sunday.

Week 13 NFL experts picks: Falcons a trendy pick to avoid Saints’ sweep

The New Orleans Saints have been picked to win their Week 13 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, but plenty of NFL experts like an upset.

Can the New Orleans Saints sweep the Atlanta Falcons with a Week 13 win? Sure, they can. But it might not be the likeliest outcome. The Saints have only swept Atlanta once in the last four seasons, winning both matchups in 2018. There’s good reasons for this rivalry being the NFL’s best: unlike, say, Packers-Bears, it’s actually competitive.

And per NFL Pickwatch, the experts are taking notice. While the Saints manhandled the Falcons in their Week 11 meeting, Atlanta’s surprising blowout win against the Las Vegas Raiders has the experts conflicted. While 75% of picks are coming in for the Saints to pull off the sweep, a solid 25% minority are taking the Falcons.

Maybe it works out for them. The Saints are 2-1 at the Falcons’ Mercedes-Benz Stadium since its opening in 2017, and Taysom Hill turned in an uninspiring performance against the more-complex Denver Broncos pass defense a week ago. It’s possible Atlanta learned some things.

Then again, it’s possible the Saints still haven’t taken the training wheels off Hill’s version of the Saints offense. With a playoff-clinching scenario on hand, it’s time for Hill and the Saints to pull out all the stops and bring the hammer down on the Falcons.

Texans versus Buccaneers: Who has Houston in Week 14?

The Houston Texans will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a matchup that can get them into the playoffs. Do the experts have them winning?

The 9-5 Houston Texans can clinch their spot in the playoffs with a win over the 7-7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday.

A matchup between two of the NFL’s best offenses, the Texans and Buccaneers have momentum. Houston is coming off of a big victory, beating the 8-6 Tennessee Titans last Sunday. Tampa Bay has won four in a row behind Jameis Winston.

The Bucs will be without their top-two wide receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. However, the Texans’ inconsistencies mean that Tampa Bay won’t easily fold on Saturday. Or will they? The experts make their picks.

CBS Sports (Pete Prisco): Buccaneers

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports expects a close game on Saturday. However, he has the Texans losing the game that can win them the AFC South, in large part due to Jameis Winston’s play as of late.

Said Prisco:

“The Bucs are rolling, having won four consecutive games. But they are out of playoff contention, while the Texans can lock up the AFC South with a victory. That matters. But so does the way Jameis Winston is playing. This will be a fun, high-scoring game as the Bucs take it.”

Pick: Buccaneers, 31-30

NFL experts are divided, but most pick Saints to handle their business vs. 49ers

The New Orleans Saints are popular among NFL experts picks as a choice to defeat the visiting San Francisco 49ers, but opinions are split.

The NFL’s Week 14 slate of Sunday games will lead off with the New Orleans Saints’ kickoff against the San Francisco 49ers, and how it turns out might be anyone’s guess. NFL experts are filing their picks from all around the league’s orbit, and there’s so firm consensus this week.

According to the dozens of expert picks surveyed by NFL Pickwatch, 65% of the football cognoscenti expects the Saints to prevail. A healthy 35% of votes are coming in for San Francisco.

That isn’t very encouraging given the result of Thursday Night Football, in which the Dallas Cowboys — picked by 73% of experts — were upset on the road against the Chicago Bears. It’s not often that one team leads its own division (as the Cowboys do, at 6-7) while having their lunch money stolen an opponent ranked third in their respective division (the 7-6 Bears trail both the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings).

Few games are currently being picked with any sense of certainty, with just the Packers (100%), Vikings (99%), Houston Texans (98%), Philadelphia Eagles (95%), and Cleveland Browns (91%) breaking the 90% threshold in each of their matchups. Considering their opponents are a combined 13-46-1, it makes sense that NFL experts might be feeling a little more confident in those games.
