Dak Prescott, DaRon Bland win Player of the Month awards for November

From @ToddBrock24f7: After dropping the first game of the month, Prescott and Bland made up for it with award-winning performances the next three weeks.

November got off to a rough start for the Cowboys, with the team falling to the Eagles in a true game of inches just a few days after the calendar page had turned. Things turned around quickly on both sides of the ball, though, with three blowout wins, and now the league has recognized both an offensive and defensive playmaker for their stellar contributions over the last four weeks as a whole.

Quarterback Dak Prescott was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month, and cornerback DaRon Bland was similarly honored as NFC Defensive Player of the Month. It’s the first time ever that the Cowboys have had two Player of the Month winners in the same month.

Prescott sits at or near the top in several passing categories for the season as a whole, but he’s been on an entirely different plane in November. In Weeks 9 through 12, he’s gone 104-for-149 through the air- that’s a 68.4% completion rate- for 1,298 yards and 13 touchdowns… and only one interception, for a QB rating of 121.7.

Within the conference, Prescott placed No. 1 or No. 2 in three of those four weeks in passing yards, and he never finished outside the top 6 in QB rating. He led the NFC in passing yards and touchdown throws for November, and he’s considered a legitimate candidate for league MVP with six games left to play in the regular season.

Bland set a new NFL record on Thanksgiving by recording his fifth interception-return touchdown in a single season. He leads the league with seven picks, three of which have come in his last three outings (and two of those ended up in the end zone). He’s also added four defended passes and 20 tackles over the course of the month. The fifth-round draft pick is the highest-rated cornerback in the NFL this season in passer rating allowed when targeted and is in the conversation for Defensive Player of the Year.

This marks the first monthly award for either player. The Cowboys haven’t had an Offensive Player of the Month since 2014 (they had three that year). Defensively, Micah Parsons won the award for September; this is the first time in franchise history two Cowboys defenders have been so honored in the same season. Brandon Aubrey was the Special Teams Player of the Month in October.

Prescott and Bland have the opportunity to close out their award-winning month in style with a primetime battle against the Seattle Seahawks on the final night of November.

Justin Jefferson is primed to win another award

The star receiver has been tremendous this season

Throughout the 2022 NFL season, the Minnesota Vikings have had multiple winners of both NFC player of the week and NFC player of the month. The Vikings have seen six players win player of the week and two have won player of the month.

In November, wide receiver Justin Jefferson won NFC player of the month with a tremendous month but has set himself up to win the award again in December with a more impressive month.

It’s truly remarkable how good Jefferson has been this season; the month-to-month improvement speaks volumes. In one less game, Jefferson has caught 13 more passes for 44 more yards than he did in November.

Don’t be surprised one bit when Jefferson takes home the award once again come January 1st.

Vikings’ Justin Jefferson named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for November

Jefferson picked up some hardware after an unreal showing in November.

Former LSU and current Minnesota Vikings standout receiver [autotag]Justin Jefferson[/autotag] continues to stake his claim as the top wide receiver in football.

After a monstrous month of November in which Jefferson totaled 480 yards and three touchdowns on 29 catches, he’s been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month.

Jefferson eclipsed the 100-yard mark in all three of Minnesota’s victories in that stretch, and he also scored a touchdown in each of them. His best game in the stretch came in the win over the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 13 in which he totaled 10 catches for 193 yards — a career-high — and a touchdown.

As a member of the 9-2 Vikings, who lead the way in the NFC North by a wide margin, Jefferson should see playoff action for the first time in his career in 2022.

Justin Jefferson wins NFC Offensive Player of the Month for November

Another award for Jefferson

The Minnesota Vikings continue to win awards as star wide receiver wins the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for the month of November.

This is Jefferson’s second offensive player of the month award, as he also won it last season in November. He became the first Vikings receiver to win the award twice.

In the month of November, Jefferson had 29 receptions for 480 yards and three touchdowns.

It wasn’t all about the stats for Jefferson, but more so the big plays. He had some tremendous catches during the month of November, including arguably the best catch in the history of the National Football League.

Jefferson also became the second Vikings player to win a player of the month award with Za’Darius Smith winning defensive player of the month in October.

Former Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson wins NFC Offensive Player of the Month

September has been a record-breaking month for former Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson, who has become the only quarterback in NFL history to throw for 14 touchdown passes in the first three weeks of the season.

Wilson’s record-breaking run has led the Seattle Seahawks to the top of NFC West with a record of 3-0. Going undefeated through week three by itself is impressive, but when the wins come against the Falcons, Cowboys, and Patriots, it shows just how good this team has been. In addition to the 14 passing touchdowns, Wilson has thrown for an eye-popping 925 passing yards.

The outstanding play from Russell Wilson has thrust him to the top of the early MVP conversation, and if his production continues, we could be seeing the Seahawks playing in February.

Drew Brees named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for December

Despite playing two games outdoors in December, New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees earned recognition as NFC Offensive Player of the Month.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for December, the fifth time he’s earned this recognition in his long NFL career. He’s just the seventh quarterback in NFL history to reach that milestone, having most recently earned Player of the Month honors last November.

In four games during December, Brees went 104-of-138 (75.4%) for 1,188 passing yards, scoring fifteen touchdowns against zero interceptions. That’s an average of 297 passing yards per game and a passer rating of 132.2 in this span. Yeah, not bad, considering he played the NFL’s best pass defense (the San Francisco 49ers) and left the warmth of the Superdome for two fearsome road games in December. The way some analysts talk about him would suggest he can’t do that, but he just did. Makes you think.

Two of Brees’ teammates with the Saints won this recognition earlier this season. The only Saints player remaining from the 2009 Super Bowl-winning team besides Brees, punter Thomas Morstead, was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September. Brees’ favorite target, wide receiver Michael Thomas, preceded him as NFC Offensive Player of the Month for November.
