Browns missing six starters from practice with Saints three days away

The Browns are still without a handful of starters.

The Cleveland Browns are seeking their fourth win in five weeks as they get set to take on Jarvis Landry and the New Orleans Saints on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately for the Browns, they are missing a plethora of starting players from practice with just two days until kickoff. Overall, six players missed practice for the Browns yesterday, all of them are starters as well.

All-in-all, ten players were either limited in practice or did not go at all for the Browns. As Wednesday’s injury report dropped, who appeared on that list for the Browns with just two days until gameday in Cleveland?

NFL Week 16: Let’s make some money parlay

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated on Thursday at 12:08 a.m. ET. All games Saturday and ET unless noted.

Leg 1: LIONS -2.5 (-118) at Panthers – 1 p.m. (FOX)

The Lions have the 31st ranked defense in the NFL, but the defense has played better in recent weeks and the offense has been solid all season.

Jared Goff has set himself up as the QB for Detroit in 2023 with the way he has meshed with WR Amon-Ra St. Brown. With the offensive line blocking great for D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams, the Lions are on the verge of making the playoffs. The team has already gone over its win total of 6.5 for the season.

Carolina is still alive in the NFC South, but has a lot of ground to make up and not a talented roster to do it with. While this game will be close early, the Lions will pull away and win by more than a field goal.

Leg 2: Giants at Vikings OVER 48 (-111) – 1 p.m. (FOX)

This is an important spot for both teams. Saquon Barkley is coming off a good game on Sunday night and the Vikings are coming off an incredible 33-point comeback victory against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday. Dalvin Cook, Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen will be able to put up points in this game. The Vikings defense will also give up points to the Giants. While 48 is much higher then the other over I am on in this parlay, I like this game to get to about 55. Both teams need this game for their playoff seeding and it will be important for both. Expect the offenses to come out humming.

Leg 3: Saints at Browns OVER 32.5 (-109) – 1 p.m. (CBS)

The total of this game is the lowest total in an NFL in over a decade. The weather will be around -10 and it will be snowy and windy. This means the run game will be important. Saints RB Alvin Kamara will be up for the challenge and if Nick Chubb comes back to practice and is able to play for the Browns, I can see 5 TD being scored in this game.

I do not think it will be a shootout in the 40’s for each team. But all I am asking for is a 20-14 game. I think this is viable. Even in the tough conditions which will be had in Cleveland.

Parlay payout: Bet $10 to win $66.40 (profit $56.40).

Leg 4-*: Texans at TITANS -3 (-116) – 1 p.m. (CBS)

*-If you want to add a 4th play to this parlay:

Derrick Henry and the Titans love to play against the Texans. This game will be even better for the Titans as the Texans will be without RB Dameon Pierce and WRs Brandin Cooks and Niko Collins. The Texans have not given up, but they might as well have. The Titans will finally be able to get off their 4-game slide when they play at home in this game. Even without Ryan Tannehill, QB Malik Willis and Henry can do enough to win this battle of AFC South teams.

Parlay payout: Bet $10 to win $126.90 (profit $116.90).

Browns players discuss Jarvis Landry as Christmas Eve reunion vs. Saints nears

Jarvis Landry was a big topic of conversation yesterday

The Cleveland Browns are looking forward to taking home their fourth victory in five weeks as they host the New Orleans Saints on Christmas Eve. One of the pressing pieces of conversation in yesterday’s media availability revolved around the return of a former Browns wide receiver in Jarvis Landry as well.

Speaking to the media yesterday, all of head coach Kevin Stefanski, cornerback Denzel Ward, and tight end David Njoku were asked about their former teammate in Landry. Here is what they all said. All of these quotes have been pulled directly from the public transcripts provided by the Browns.

Nick Chubb misses second practice in a row, will he play vs. Saints?: ‘hope so’

When does one start to get concerned?

Head coach Kevin Stefanski gave a two-word answer yesterday when he was asked if the Cleveland Browns would have running back Nick Chubb available against the New Orleans Saints on Christmas Eve: “Hope so.”

And now after missing his second practice in a row today, there is reason to be concerned about the status of Chubb, who is rehabbing through a foot injury. If he is not good to go, Kareem Hunt will step in for a great deal of the workload, with either Jerome Ford or D’Ernest Johnson serving in relief.

Can the Browns overcome potentially losing their best offensive player to win their fourth game in five outings?

7 miss practice Tuesday as Christmas Eve matchup with Saints approaches

Seven missed Tuesday’s practice as the Saints approach.

The Cleveland Browns are potentially getting a massive boost as center Ethan Pocic has been designated for return from Injured Reserve after his four weeks off. As the New Orleans Saints are next up on the menu, however, the Browns were missing seven players from practice on Tuesday as they work through injuries.

While some were scheduled days of rest, the Browns were missing a handful of key contributors, including running back Nick Chubb, who is battling through a foot injury. Here we take a look at every member of the team who appeared on Tuesday’s injury report and their status.

Browns were without a key piece in Tuesday’s practice

The Browns were without a key player in practice on Tuesday

As the Cleveland Browns look to advance to 7-8 on the season in their Christmas Eve battle against the New Orleans Saints, they get some not-so-good news on a key contributor. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, running back Nick Chubb did not practice for the Browns on Tuesday as he works through a foot injury.

The running game of the Browns has not been up to par over the past four weeks since center Ethan Pocic went down. Now Pocic is set to return, but Chubb is working through an injury. Already with more carries than he has handled over the past two seasons, one has to wonder if the workload of Chubb has been too steep in 2022 as they started a backup quarterback over the first 11 games of the season.

Browns designate C Ethan Pocic for return from Injured Reserve just in time for Saints

The Browns may be getting a massive boost this weekend

As the Cleveland Browns look to continue their winning ways, taking home victories in three of their last four outings, they may now get their starting center back in time for their Christmas Eve matchup against the New Orleans Saints. After hitting Injured Reserve after the Week 11 loss to the Buffalo Bills, center Ethan Pocic has been designated for return today by the Browns.

There is still one more step, as Pocic actually still has to be activated before Saturday, but the Browns could benefit from a top-three center this season returning. They have struggled to run the ball since Pocic hit IR, so getting him back could continue to awaken their run game after Nick Chubb managed to grind out 99 yards last week.

Santa will not be gifting Saints good weather on Christmas Eve

Santa will not be gifting Saints good weather for their Christmas Eve matchup against the Browns

As the dome-based New Orleans Saints travel to Northeast Ohio on Christmas Eve to take on the Cleveland Browns, Santa will not be gifting them optimal weather conditions. Just off the coast of Lake Erie, this matchup between the Saints and Browns will feature a frigid temperature of just 14 degrees and a wind chill of -8 degrees.

That’s not all! The lake wind will be in full effect as well as gusts are anticipated at around 60 miles per hour. After winning three of their last four games, the Browns have some good old-fashioned home-field advantage against the Saints this weekend as well.
