[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Memphis Grizzlies welcome the New Orleans Pelicans to the FedExForum Wednesday for the 2023-24 season opener. Tip is set for 8 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Pelicans vs. Grizzlies odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; teams split 4 games last season with each winning twice at home

The Grizzlies will open their season at home without G Ja Morant, who has been suspended 25 games. Memphis ended 2nd in the Western Conference last season at 51-31, including 35-6 at home. The Grizzlies will be led by G Desmond Bane, who averaged a career-high 21.5 points per game (PPG) last season. Memphis was 39-47-2 against the spread (ATS) last season.

New Orleans was 39-42-2 ATS last season and ended the season 42-40 straight up, good for 9th in the West. F Zion Williamson is expected to be healthy to start the season. He played just 29 games last season, but averaged 26 PPG when he did play. F Brandon Ingram averaged a career-high 24.7 PPG last season.

Pelicans at Grizzlies picks and predictions

Prediction

Pelicans 118, Grizzlies 114

Moneyline

BET PELICANS (-110).

The Pelicans have the star power to go into Memphis and come out on top. They have 3 players in their starting lineup who averaged more than 20 points per game last season while the Grizzlies have just Bane with those credentials. New Orleans high-level playmaking should give them an edge.

The Pelicans were 17-12 with Williamson in the lineup last season as well. They should have the size and skill advantage over a short-handed Grizzlies team that is missing Morant and 2 key front court pieces.

Take PELICANS (-110).

Against the spread

PASS.

Take the stress out of it if the game is close and take the moneyline over the spread here.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 227.5 (-110).

The Pelicans have top-tier offensive talent with a trio of 20-point scorers; however, they lack defensively. Couple that with the Grizzlies, who ranked 8th in pace, and the tempo should aid scoring as well.

Both teams ranked in the top 10 in offensive rebounding rate, so there should be plenty of 2nd-chance opportunities. Put the 2 together and take OVER 227.5 (-110).

New Orleans Pelicans at Memphis Grizzlies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s New Orleans Pelicans at Memphis Grizzlies odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Orleans Pelicans (23-12) visit the Memphis Grizzlies (21-13) Saturday in a battle of the 1st and 3rd seed in the Western Coference. Tip-off from FedExForum is set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Pelicans vs. Grizzlies odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Pelicans are on a 5-game win streak that continued Friday with a 127-116 victory over the visiting Philadelphia 76ers. G C.J. McCollum scored 42 points, including 11 threes, and secured that win for the Pelicans despite 76ers C Joel Embiid putting up 37 points. New Orleans is 1st in the Western Conference despite playing without F Brandon Ingram.

The Grizzlies are coming off a 119-106 victory at the Toronto Raptors Thursday. That win ended a 2-game skid that started after star G Ja Morant said he was “fine in the west”. After dropping back-to-back games vs. western conference teams Morant popped off for a career-high 17 assists to help his team secure the win vs. the Raptors.

Pelicans at Grizzlies picks and predictions

Prediction

Pelicans 121, Grizzlies 119

Moneyline

LEAN PELICANS (+200).

The Pelicans being heavy underdogs is baffling to me, they are the hotter team and the season series is tied 1-1. I assume the line has to do with possible fatigue that could be setting in for the Pelicans due to playing a back-to-back set and the fact that they are the away team. This will be your riskiest bet for this game, but I believe the PELICANS (+200) can get it done.

Against the spread

BET PELICANS +5.5 (-102).

The Pelicans should cover this number whether they win or lose. These teams are very evenly matched and are both young squads that are hot right now. With both teams near the top of a very loaded Western Conference, this should be a great game that will come down to the wire.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 234.5 (-112).

Both of these teams have top 10 offenses in the NBA and are almost fully healthy. The Over should be pretty safe here and expect the big names in the matchup to show up and show out. This should be a close game that features a lot of scoring and not a ton of defense, which basketball purists might hate but will be great for this bet.

Phoenix Suns at Memphis Grizzlies odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Phoenix Suns at Memphis Grizzlies NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Memphis Grizzlies (13-12) host the Phoenix Suns (18-10) Saturday at the FedExForum for an 8 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Suns-Grizzlies NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Phoenix has been one of the best teams in the Association this month, going 8-2 overall and ATS. The Suns are fifth in net rating and second in effective field goal shooting in February.

The Grizzlies started February with a 1-4 record but are playing better and getting healthier. Memphis has won back-to-back games and four of its last six games (4-2 ATS).

The Suns lost at the Grizzlies earlier this season 108-104 as 5.5-point road favorites. In fact, Memphis has won and covered against Phoenix in the last four meetings. Both squads won and covered last night—the Suns beat the New Orleans Pelicans, and the Grizzlies took down the Detroit Pistons.

Suns at Grizzlies: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Suns 114, Grizzlies 106

Money line (ML)

PASS with a lean on the Suns (-165) mostly because I’d rather not bet an NBA regular-season money line favorite this expensive, but I don’t hate betting Phoenix outright given your bankroll or including this in a parlay.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

This is a great spot for the SUNS -3.5 (-115) for a few reasons.

First, Memphis is either first or second in all four of the “miscellaneous” statistics (points in the paint, fast break points, points off of turnovers and second-chance points per game). However, Phoenix is top-10 in three of those categories (22nd in opponent’s fast break points per games).

Second, this month Phoenix has the sixth-highest net rating in clutch situations with a 4-1 record and Memphis has the worst clutch net rating in February.

Finally, the Suns have been great this season in the second game of a back-to-back: Phoenix is 6-1 ATS with a plus-7.4-point spread differential with no rest. Memphis is 3-1 ATS but has a minus-1.8-point spread differential.

BET SUNS -3.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight lean on Under 225.5 (-110) but officially I’ll PASS ON THE TOTAL. The Suns play at the second-slowest pace in the NBA, and you know Chris Paul wants to grind this game down with Phoenix’s halfcourt offense. Also, the previous five Suns-Grizzlies games have gone Under the total.

But, my handicap isn’t strong enough to wager on the total.
