Analyzing Monday’s New Jersey Devils at New York Islanders odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Jersey Devils (46-19-8) visit the New York Islanders (37-28-9) Monday. Puck drop from UBS Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Devils vs. Islanders odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Devils picked up a 5-3 victory over the visiting Ottawa Senators on Saturday, as they look to turn around a 1-4-1 stretch. The Over has cashed in 3 of New Jersey’s last 4 games.

The Islanders were blanked 2-0 against the visiting Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, their first game in the past 4 outings without a point (3-0-1). The Over is 6-2 across New York’s last 8 games despite the Under results against Buffalo.

The road team has won each of the first 2 meetings in this series this season — and 3 straight dating back to last season. The Isles won 6-4 on Dec. 9 in Newark as the Over (6) cashed, while the Devils registered a 4-1 win at UBS Arena on Oct. 20 as the Under (6) connected.

Devils at Islanders projected goalies

Vitek Vanecek (29-9-4, 2.49 GAA, .909 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Ilya Sorokin (26-19-7, 2.41 GAA, .922 SV%, 5 SO)

Vanecek was expected to rest Friday in Buffalo but came on in the 1st period to relieve G Akira Schmid after he allowed 3 goals on 7 shots. He turned aside 17 of the 19 shots he faced in relief.

Sorokin coughed up 5 goals on just 27 shots in a 5-4 OT loss at the Columbus Blue Jackets Friday. He had allowed 3 or fewer goals in 10 of his previous 11 outings before the implosion.

Devils at Islanders picks and predictions

Prediction

Devils 4, Islanders 2

Moneyline

The DEVILS (-130) are a solid value on the road.

New Jersey has won 8 straight games inside the Metropolitan Division and is 26-9 in its last 35 road outings. The road team has also won 3 straight meetings in the series.

The Islanders are 10-22 in the past 32 games against teams with a winning percentage of .600 or higher.

Puck line/Against the spread

The DEVILS -1.5 (+175) are worth a roll of the dice laying the goal and a half for a chance to nearly double up.

New Jersey won by at least 2 goals in each of its last 4 wins outings dating back to March 11. If you like New Jersey to win, you should like it to cover the puck line, too.

Over/Under

The UNDER 6.5 (-140) is worth playing lightly, but go with a half-unit play at best.

The Under is 5-1 in the past 6 games for the Devils when working on 1 day of rest and is also 4-0 in their last 4 games after a victory.

The Under is also 15-6-2 in the past 23 games overall at UBS Arena for the Islanders and is 35-14-2 in the past 51 meetings between these foes on the Island.

Ottawa Senators at New Jersey Devils odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Ottawa Senators at New Jersey Devils odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Ottawa Senators (35-32-5) travel to meet the New Jersey Devils (45-19-8) Saturday. Puck drop from Prudential Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Senators vs. Devils odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Senators enter play 5 points out of a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference with 10 games left in the regular season. Ottawa is coming off perhaps its most complete game of the season, a 7-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday as short ‘dogs at home.

The Devils were tripped up 5-4 in Buffalo Friday night, and now face the quick turnaround. New Jersey remains 2 points behind the Carolina Hurricanes for 1st place in the Metropolitan Division, with the Canes having 2 games in hand, too.

The last time these teams played Nov. 19 in Ottawa, the Devils posted a 5-1 win. Jersey also won the 1st meeting in Newark by a 4-3 count in OT Nov. 10.

Senators at Devils projected goalies

Mads Sogaard (6-5-2, 3.27 GAA, .890 SV%) vs. Vitek Vanecek (29-8-4, 2.49 GAA, .909 SV%, 3 SO)

Sogaard was the beneficiary of all that offensive support in the 7-2 win over the Lightning last time out, while turning aside 27 of the 29 shots he faced. Despite the win, he is still just 2-5-1 with a 3.88 GAA and .870 SV% in 8 March outings.

Vanecek was thrust into action Friday, turning aside 17 of the 19 shots he faced in relief of an ineffective Akira Schmid. The latter coughed up 3 goals on just 7 shots in 10:55 of work.

Senators at Devils picks and predictions

Prediction

Devils 4, Senators 3

Moneyline

The Devils (-180) are right at my personal limit for a singular moneyline play. However, I don’t like New Jersey in this one, as that’s quite expensive for a team that isn’t playing very well. This should be a very close game, too, especially since the Devils are playing the 2nd end of a back-to-back set, and Vanecek is working on little rest after being thrust into action.

PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

The SENATORS +1.5 (-155) aren’t priced out of line if you want a little insurance and can’t bring yourself to play the underdogs straight up.

Ottawa is a perfect 5-0 on the puck line in the past 5 games as an underdog, while New Jersey is 0-4 in the past 4 games on the puck line as a favorite.

Over/Under

The OVER 6.5 (-125) is worth a look, but go lightly with a half-unit play at best.

The Over is 6-1 in the past 7 for Ottawa against winning teams, while going 11-4 in the past 15 games overall. The Over and Under has alternated in the past 5 games for the Devils, and the Over hit in the 1st meeting between these teams in Newark back in November.

New Jersey Devils at Arizona Coyotes odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New Jersey Devils at Arizona Coyotes odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Jersey Devils (40-15-6) conclude a 3-game road trip Sunday against the Arizona Coyotes (21-32-9) at Mullett Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Devils vs. Coyotes odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Devils suffered a 4-3 loss in a shootout against the Vegas Golden Knights Friday, snapping a 3-game win streak. The Over has cashed in 5 straight outings for New Jersey.

The Coyotes were roughed up by the Carolina Hurricanes 6-1 Friday, and have dropped 4 of the past 5 games. Arizona has been outscored 23-12 during the 5-game span.

Devils at Coyotes projected goalies

Vitek Vanecek (26-6-3, 2.46 GAA, .910 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Karel Vejmelka (16-19-5, 3.39 GAA, .902 SV%, 3 SO)

Vanecek was pounded for 5 goals on just 19 shots at the Colorado Avalanche Wednesday before being pulled in the 3rd period. However, he still earned the win. He has won 4 of his past 5 starts, although he has conceded 3 or more goals in 3 consecutive outings.

Vejmelka was not dealt at the trade deadline despite his name being bandied about. He allowed 6 goals on 42 shots in Friday’s loss against the Hurricanes, and has allowed 5 or more goals in 3 of the past 4 outings.

Devils at Coyotes picks and predictions

Prediction

Devils 5, Coyotes 1

Moneyline

The Devils (-350) will cost you 3 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not enough reward. Look to the puck line instead.

PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

The DEVILS -1.5 (-135) are a much better value laying the goal and a half.

New Jersey has covered the puck line in 4 of the past 5 games as a favorite, while Arizona has failed to cover the puck line in 4 straight as an underdog.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (-110) is the lean, especially due to Arizona’s struggles on offense.

The Under is 9-4 in the past 13 games against Metropolitan Division opponents for the Coyotes and is 4-1-1 in their past 6 when working on a single day of rest.

While the Over has cashed in 5 straight for the Devils, the Under is 3-1-1 in the past 5 games against Central Division foes. The Under is 6-2 in the past 8 meetings between these opponents, too.

New Jersey Devils at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s New Jersey Devils at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Jersey Devils (39-15-5) kick off a 3-game Western Conference road trip against the Colorado Avalanche (34-19-5) Wednesday at Ball Arena in Denver. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Devils vs. Avalanche odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Devils dusted the Philadelphia Flyers by a 7-0 count Saturday, winning for the 4th time in the past 5 games. New Jersey is averaging 4.4 goals per game (GPG) during the 5-game span, and it might be able to get even better.

New Jersey added 30-plus goal scorer RW Timo Meier from the San Jose Sharks prior to the NHL trade deadline. He is still being evaluated by the team’s medical staff after nursing a minor upper-body injury in his final days in San Jose, so he is unlikely to make his team debut in this one.

The Avalanche are playing their best hockey of the season, winning 6 consecutive games, while averaging 4.1 GPG across the past 8 outings.

These teams met in Newark on Oct. 28, with the Devils getting a 1-0 shutout courtesy of G Vitek Vanecek.

Devils at Avalanche projected goalies

Vitek Vanecek (25-6-3, 2.37 GAA, .913 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Alexandar Georgiev (26-12-4, 2.57 GAA, .922 SV%, 3 SO)

Vanecek bounced back from a 5-2 setback at home on Feb. 21 against the Montreal Canadiens by turning aside 19 of 22 shots he faced against the Los Angeles Kings in a 4-3 OT win on Thursday.

Vanecek posted his 1st shutout of the season on Oct. 28 against the Avalanche in the 1st meeting, stopping all 24 of the shots he faced.

Georgiev has rattled off 5 consecutive victories, including a 31-save shutout against the Vegas Golden Knights Monday. He has been on fire lately, conceding just 2 goals on 87 shots across his past 3 outings.

Devils at Avalanche picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 3, Devils 2

Moneyline

The AVALANCHE (-130) are a solid play on home ice, especially since Meier isn’t expected to suit up for the Devils just yet.

Colorado has been on another plane lately, and Georgiev has been standing on his head. The last time these teams faced each other, goals were at a premium, with the home side winning. Look for the Avs to keep that trend up.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Devils +1.5 (-250) will cost you 2 1/2 times your potential return if you require insurance in what should be a close game. That’s too expensive, though. If you like the Devs, just play them straight up for a better value.

PASS.

Over/Under

The UNDER 6.5 (-130) is a strong play with the way Vanecek and Georgiev have been posting low numbers lately. We saw just a lone goal in the first meeting, too.

The Under is 3-1-1 in the past 5 games on the road for the Devils, while going 3-0-1 in the past 4 against Central Division clubs.

It’s all about the Under lately for the Avs too, going 16-6-1 in the past 23 when playing on a day of rest and cashing in 5 straight against Metropolitan Division opponents. The Under is also 13-3-2 in the past 18 meetings between these teams in Denver, too.
