New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New England Patriots (9-4) are on the road against the Indianapolis Colts (7-6) Saturday as both teams come off their bye week. Kickoff from Lucas Oil Stadium is set for 8:20 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Patriots vs. Colts odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Patriots might be the hottest team in football as winners of their last seven games. Last time out they were on the road at the Buffalo Bills in Week 13, and high winds and resulted in the Patriots only throwing three times for 19 yards while rushing for 222 yards. New England has allowed a total of 36 points across its last five games.

The Colts are also on a bit of a run as winners of four of their last five games. Their only loss in that stretch was a 38-31 home defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Indianapolis’ most impressive win of the season was undoubtedly a 41-15 dismantling of the Bills in Week 11 when it rushed for 264 yards.

Patriots at Colts odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Patriots 24, Colts 20

Money line

It’s honestly shocking that the Patriots are underdogs in this one. They’ve won seven straight and are allowing 7.2 points per game over their last five. The Colts are playing well too, but they’re heavily reliant on RB Jonathan Taylor.

Bill Belichick is known for taking away a team’s best playmaker and you can bet he and the Patriots are going to sell out to stop the Colts’ run game, forcing QB Carson Wentz to beat them through the air — which he’ll struggle to do.

Bet the PATRIOTS (+115) to win outright.

Against the spread

The Patriots are 15-6 and 11-9-1 against the spread (ATS) coming off a bye since 2000. The Colts are also coming off a bye, but games like this typically lean the Patriots way with Belichick having an extra week to study and prepare for an opponent.

The Patriots are also 7-0 ATS during their seven-game win streak, while the Colts are only 3-3 ATS in their last six games.

Take the PATRIOTS +2.5 (-103).

Over/Under

Even considering how well the Patriots defense has been playing, the total has still managed to go Over four times in their last seven games. That’s because outside of their win against the Bills in those blistery conditions, the Patriots have scored at least 24 points eight times since Week 5.

This is an offense that’s going to efficiently move the ball and avoid costly turnovers. The Colts play a similar style of offense, which is why I think the total will go UNDER 44.5 (-112).
