Colorado State at Nevada odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Colorado State at Nevada odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado State Rams (0-4, 0-0 MWC) and Nevada Wolf Pack (2-3, 0-1 MWC) meet Friday at Mackay Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Colorado State vs. Nevada odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Colorado State QB Clay Millen left with a shoulder injury in the 2nd quarter of a 41-10 home loss to the Sacramento State Hornets on Sept. 24. Backup QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi threw for 116 yards and 1 TD on 6-of-15 passing and is expected to make his first college start Friday.

Coach Jay Norvell returns to Mackay Stadium for the first time since leaving Nevada for Colorado State last December.

Nevada failed to cover the spread as a 24-point underdog in a 48-20 loss at the Air Force Falcons on Sept. 23. Wolf Pack RB Toa Taua rushed for 2 TDs and 73 yards while QB Nate Cox threw for 130 yards on 12-of-20 passing.

Nevada is 4-0 against the spread (ATS) in the last 4 games against CSU.

Colorado State at Nevada picks and predictions

Prediction

Nevada 24, Colorado State 17

Moneyline

PASS.

Nevada (-170) ML should hit, but the price is a little high. Look to the spread and total for better opportunities.

Against the spread

BET NEVADA -3.5 (+100).

Nevada has had success with extra rest as the Wolf Pack are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games after a bye week.

Colorado State has failed to cover in all 4 of its games this season and I don’t expect the Rams to turn around their season Friday against a Nevada team that has dominated them as of late. Lay the points.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 44.5 (-115).

The Under has hit in all 4 of Colorado State’s games this season and is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these 2 teams. CSU’s offensive struggles should continue vs. Norvell’s former team and help the Under hit Friday.

Nevada at Air Force odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Nevada at Air Force odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nevada Wolf Pack (2-2, 0-0 MWC) and Air Force Falcons (2-1, 0-1) meet at Falcon Stadium Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Nevada vs. Air Force odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Nevada dealt with a night of lightning delays during a 27-0 loss at the Iowa Hawkeyes Saturday. The game was delayed 3 times for a total of 3 hours and 56 minutes. The Wolfpack are 9-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 games after an ATS loss. Friday’s game is the opener of conference play.

Air Force gave up a late TD run in a 17-14 loss at the Wyoming Cowboys Friday. The Falcons entered the Mountain West Conference opener averaging a nation-leading 508.5 rushing yards per game but were held to just 171 yards vs. Wyoming.

The Under is 5-1 in Air Force’s last 6 games vs. a team with a record above .500.

Nevada at Air Force picks and predictions

Prediction

Air Force 28, Nevada 13

Money line

PASS.

The Air Force (-3000) money line is too expensive to bet. The spread and total are better options.

Against the spread

BET NEVADA +23.5 (+100).

Take the points. Nevada should be able to bounce back after a weird game in Iowa and keep it relatively close in a low-scoring conference game.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 46.5 (-112).

While I liked the play more when the total opened at 49 at most books, the Under should still hit. Both offenses struggled in Week 3 and Air Force’s defense should look dominant playing at home on national TV.

Nevada at Iowa odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Nevada at Iowa odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nevada Wolf Pack (2-1) travel to Kinnick Stadium to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes (1-1) Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around Nevada at Iowa odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Nevada is coming off a disappointing 55-42 loss to Incarnate Word after opening the season with consecutive wins. The Wolf Pack’s 2 victories came against the Sun Belt’s Texas State (38-14 last week) and New Mexico State (23-12 Aug. 27).

The Wolf Pack are led by QB Nate Cox, who has 372 passing yards with 2 touchdowns. On the ground, it’s been RB Toa Taua, who has 246 yards with 3 TDs.

The Hawkeyes offense is engineered by QB Spencer Petras, who has struggles so far. He’s thrown for just 201 yards with 2 TDs. RB Leshon Williams has been Iowa’s main ground threat, rushing for 106 yards with 1 score.

Iowa is coming off a 10-7 loss to in-state rival Iowa State after beating South Dakota State 7-3 in the season opener. As you can see, the offense has struggled, scoring just 14 points through 2 games.

Nevada at Iowa picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa 21, Nevada 3

Money line

PASS.

Laying -4000 is not a good value, especially against an Iowa team that has only scored 14 points in 2 games. I’ll stick to Nevada covering the spread (see below) and not predict one of the biggest upsets of the weekend.

Against the spread

BET NEVADA +23.5 (-103).

The Hawkeyes being favored by more than 3 touchdowns when they have just 2 on the season doesn’t feel right. Iowa QB Petras hasn’t played well.

Sure, there might be doubts to back the Wolf Pack since they just lost to an FCS squad, but the point is that the Hawkeyes simply will struggle to score enough points to cover.

In last week’s 10-7 loss, Iowa had just 58 rushing yards and 92 passing yards on an Iowa State team that allowed more points (10) to Southeast Missouri State.

While Nevada did beat NMSU and Texas State by double figures, it likely won’t come out on top in Iowa City Saturday. However, the Pack will provide a challenge for the Hawkeyes and should cover a line of 3-plus touchdowns.

Over/Under

While the game is off the board at Tipico Sportsbook, several books have the O/U line posted around 39.5.

I would play the Under as low as 37.5.

Colorado State at Nevada odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Colorado State Rams at Nevada Wolf Pack odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets in a Mountain West matchup.

The Colorado State Rams (17-3, 7-3 MWC) travel to Reno, Nev., to square off against the Nevada Wolf Pack (9-12, 3-7) in Mountain West Conference action Tuesday. Tip-off at the Lawlor Events Center is slated for 11 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Colorado State vs. Nevada odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Colorado State lost back-to-back games at the end of January before getting back on track by getting by San Diego State in a close shave 58-57 in its last game Feb. 4. The Rams are an excellent shooting team, which takes good care of the basketball. They shot just 44.3% from the field over their last three games, a bit of a drop-off from the 50.2% they shot in going 16-1 to start the season.

Nevada lost at San Diego State 65-63 Sunday and now returns home with a five-game losing streak in tow. The streak opened with a 77-66 loss at Colorado State Jan. 25. The Wolf Pack have averaged just 56.5 points per game in the four contests since.

Colorado State at Nevada odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Colorado State 75, Nevada 70

Money line

CSU needs to be effective from 3-point-land, and Nevada has found some success against such teams. Nevada has had some clunkers of late, but those games may very well have been heavily influenced by some small-sample shooting woes.

That colors the price somewhat beneficial in this home game.

TAKE THE WOLF PACK (+220).

Against the spread

Nevada has played a significantly slower pace of late as the Under is 5-0 in its last five games. Peg the more-than-two-possessions tag here as being too generous.

BACK THE WOLF PACK +6.5 (-120), but consider just a partial unit play at -115 or more.

Over/Under

PASS.

Crisscrossing signals underpin the analysis here.

Nevada at Colorado State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Nevada at Colorado State odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nevada Wolf Pack (9-7, 3-2 Mountain West) travel to Moby Arena Tuesday to take on the No. 22 Colorado State Rams (15-1, 5-1). Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Nevada vs. Colorado State odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Nevada is just 3-3 over its last six games, a stretch that included a 27-point loss to Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse. The Wolf Pack have been one of the worst covering teams in the Mountain West. They’re 5-10 against the spread (ATS) overall and just 1-4 ATS in conference play.

Colorado State hasn’t fared much better in Mountain West games, going just 2-4 ATS. The Rams depend heavily on 6-foot-5 junior G David Roddy who averages 18.7 points per game. Roddy has hit 30 points twice this season.

Nevada at Colorado State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Colorado State 78, Nevada 64

Money line

PASS on the money line.

The money line odds on Colorado State are too steep given how competitive conference play is, but I wouldn’t bet on the upset against a top-25 team at home. Look toward the spread for value in this Mountain West battle.

Against the spread

BET on COLORADO STATE -8.5 (-110).

Colorado State has been absolutely terrific this season. It’s led by two junior guards, so there’s experience with both the pace of college basketball and the Rams’ system.

That’s what’s helped propel them to averaging 78.6 points per game. Their strength is inside the arc where they shoot 57.8%, but their defensive play is also coming through. The Rams are also allowing the fewest two-point attempts in the Mountain West through their six conference games.

Nevada’s only top-25 matchup was a difficult one but it lost by 27 points at Kansas. The Wolf Pack also lost to Boise State at home by 15 earlier this month. They’re giving up 74.6 points per game in conference play and allow opponents to shoot 46.3% from within the arc.

CSU is going to take advantage of them and will likely win big.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 152.5 (-112).

I have a hard time believing in Nevada’s offense, and, as noted, CSU allows the fewest two-point field goals in conference play.

With Nevada shooting just 28.2% in conference play, it’ll have to either play to CSU’s defense strength or get hot from deep. Nevada is 7-8 O/U this season while CSU is 5-10 O/U.

Quick Lane Bowl: Western Michigan vs. Nevada odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Western Michigan vs. Nevada odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Western Michigan Broncos (7-5) and Nevada Wolfpack (8-4) meet Monday at 11 a.m. ET for the Quick Lane Bowl at Ford Field in Detroit. Below, we look at the Western Michigan vs. Nevada odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Western Michigan has cranked out 541.0 total yards per game over its last three contests, and the Broncos’ season average of 463.3 total yards ranks 15th in the nation.

The yardage hasn’t always translated into points, though — WMU is 1-4 against the spread over its last five games; three of the ATS margins of defeat were 20-plus points.

Nevada is 3-3 over its last six games, but the three losses were by a combined 6 points. The Wolfpack sports the leading pass attack in the Mountain West Conference with 365.8 yards per game.

However, those numbers are with Quick Lane opt-out QB Carson Strong (4,186 passing yards, 70.0% accuracy mark, 36 touchdown passes) at the helm. If Nevada will have to lean on a ground game ranked 129th in FBS with 73.8 yards per game if it’s forced to run here.

Prediction

Western Michigan 31, Nevada 24

Money line

The opt-out of Strong makes it very tough to make a case for Nevada here. The WMU run game is efficient; the Wolfpack defense against the run is not. Much of this game aside from turnovers and big plays could well come down to just that.

BACK THE BRONCOS (-270). The attractiveness of this game has waned by the day as it approaches. Consider just a partial-unit play.

Against the spread

PASS unless the tag were to slip to minus-6 or better (or a more even price on the -6.5).

Over/Under

The UNDER 56.5 (-107) is advisable. Figure Nevada being forced into two or three field-goal attempts and the Bronco run game as being a worthy governor of pace.

Nevada at Colorado State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Nevada at Colorado State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nevada Wolf Pack (7-4, 4-3 Mountain West) visit the Colorado State Rams (3-8, 2-5) Saturday at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins, Colo. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Nevada vs. Colorado State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Wolf Pack are looking to bounce back after a 41-39 overtime loss to Air Force last week at Mackay Stadium. Nevada has dropped two in a row, losing by two points in each outing.

The Rams dropped a fifth straight game at Hawaii last time out, falling 50-45. Colorado State is 0-5 ATS after a 4-0 ATS run from Sept. 18-Oct. 16. The Over has cashed in three in a row for the Rams.

Nevada at Colorado State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nevada 31, Colorado State 23

Money line

NEVADA (-190) is a little more expensive than I care to play on a money line, but the Wolf Pack aren’t a bad play straight up if you don’t want to lay the three-and-a-hook on the road.

Against the spread

NEVADA -3.5 (-115) is a worth a small-unit play, although I always dislike betting a three-and-a-hook on the favorite, especially on the road. Nevada is an impressive 4-1 ATS in the past five on the road, however, and 5-2 ATS across the past seven MWC games.

Over/Under

The UNDER 58.5 (-115) is the lean in Fort Collins. While Nevada has cashed the Over in seven of the past 10 overall, the Under has hit in nine of the past 13 on the road for the Wolf Pack. The Under is also 7-1 in the past eight in this series, with the Rams hitting the Under in 12 of the past 16 games against teams with a winning overall record.

The Air Force Falcons (7-3, 4-2 Mountain West) visit the Nevada Wolf Pack (7-3, 4-2) Friday at Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nev. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Air Force vs. Nevada odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Falcons halted a two-game losing streak with an emphatic 35-21 win at Colorado State, their first cover since Oct. 16. The surprising Over result also ended a 4-0 Under run for Air Force.

The Wolf Pack were on the short end of a 23-21 decision at San Diego State last Saturday. They are now 2-2 across their past four outings. The Under has connected in each of the past two games.

Air Force at Nevada odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nevada 29, Air Force 18

Money line

NEVADA (-125) is going to rebound against Air Force, especially on its home field, but it is going to be a grind all evening. The Falcons defense is stout, ranking fifth in the nation with 288.3 total yards per game allowed. More impressive, Air Force is yielding just 184.1 yards per game through the air to rank 14th in the country. The Falcons will make life frustrating for the Wolf Pack aerial attack and NFL prospect QB Carson Strong.

Against the spread

NEVADA -1.5 (-110) is slightly cheaper and worth the play. The Wolf Pack look to bounce back after a close loss at San Diego State, and should be able to get things moving at home. However, it isn’t going to be easy, and the Falcons do not give up huge chunk plays like the Wolf Pack would like. Nevada wants those big downfield strikes from Strong to WR Romeo Doubs, but the opportunities will be few and far between.

Over/Under

The UNDER 52.5 (-110) is the lean in this Mountain West battle in Reno. The Under is 6-2 in the past eight on the road for Air Force, and an impressive 17-5 across its past 22 games overall. The Under is also 4-0 in the past four against winning teams for the Falcons.

As for the Wolf Pack, the Over is 5-2-1 in the past eight overall. However, the Under is 10-2-1 in the past 13 at home against teams with a winning road mark, and 34-15 in the previous 49 as favorites.

Hawaii at Nevada odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Hawaii at Nevada odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (3-3, 1-1 MWC) travel to meet the Nevada Wolf Pack (4-1, 1-0) Saturday at Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nev. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Hawaii vs. Nevada odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Rainbow Warriors might come in with a .500 record overall, but Hawaii is brimming with confidence after a 27-24 win over Fresno State as 11.5-point underdogs last week in the islands. Hawaii is averaging 34.0 PPG across the past two, while going 3-0 ATS in three straight.

The Wolf Pack worked over a subpar New Mexico State team last week, winning 55-28. Nevada took its foot off the gas in the late stages, turning a convincing 52-7 lead into a backdoor cover for NMSU.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Hawaii at Nevada odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nevada 41, Hawaii 24

Money line

Nevada (-650) is going to win this game behind its NFL prospect QB Carson Strong, but laying six-and-a-half times your potential return is not a good long-term betting strategy.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

NEVADA -13.5 (-120) is a strong play, especially after this line dipped from a flat 14. I could see the Wolf Pack winning by exactly two touchdowns, so that extra half-point makes a difference.

The Wolf Pack have a great offense capable of housing it through the air on every touch. Nevada ranks 7th in the nation with 357.0 passing yards per game, and it’s 22nd in the country with 36.8 PPG.

Over/Under

OVER 60.5 (-115) is a good play based on the passing games of each of these teams. Nevada has a pass-happy offense, with only an occasional run. Hawaii also has a strong pass attack with QB Chevan Cordeiro, and Over bettors love passing teams. Passes stop the clock and allow for more plays, while running teams keep the clock rolling to help Under bettors. Two passing teams are great for the prospects of Over bettors.

New Mexico State at Nevada odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s New Mexico State at Nevada odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Mexico State Aggies (1-5) travel to meet the Nevada Wolf Pack (3-1) Saturday at Mackay Stadium in Reno for a non-conference battle. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the New Mexico State vs. Nevada odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The New Mexico State offense looked good last week at San Jose State rolling up 31 points in a six-point loss. They easily covered the 26-point number, and the Aggies are 4-1 ATS across the past five while hitting the Over in three of the previous four.

Nevada went to Boise last week and won outright as four-point ‘dogs, 41-31. After getting tripped up at Kansas State Sept. 18, they used two full weeks to prepare for the Broncos, and they obviously did a good job. The Over has cashed in three straight for the Wolf Pack.

New Mexico State at Nevada odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nevada 45, New Mexico State 20

Money line

You probably shouldn’t have to tell someone not to risk this, but Nevada (-100000) is not worth playing, even though there is virtually no chance they lose this game. Betting huge favorites like this is pure nonsense.

AVOID.

Against the spread

NEW MEXICO STATE +27.5 (-105) isn’t a great team, but QB Jonah Johnson has shown some glimpses of brilliance, and he should be able to lead this offense to a handful of points.

I absolutely love QB Carson Strong of Nevada -27.5 (-120), and he is going to be collecting a paycheck on Sundays in the NFL very soon. But this is a rather high number for a Wolf Pack defense that allows 24.0 PPG and is just so-so defensively.

Over/Under

The OVER 64.5 (-108) is worth a small-unit wager. Nevada has the tools to get into the 40’s rather easily against a very giving New Mexico State side. The risk is with the Aggies, and if they can use last weekend’s performance at San Jose State as a springboard into this game.
