Brooklyn Nets at Houston Rockets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Brooklyn Nets at Houston Rockets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Brooklyn Nets (17-7) travel to Toyota Center Wednesday to take on the Houston Rockets (7-16). Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Nets at Rockets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Nets are coming off a thrilling 102-99 victory at the Dallas Mavericks Tuesday in which they rallied from a 17-point deficit. Led by former MVPs, PF Kevin Durant and SG James Harden, Brooklyn will look to avoid this trap game.

The Nets are 10-14 against the spread (ATS) this season. In this situation, as road favorites, they’re 5-4 ATS.

As for Houston, as a home underdog, it is 3-4 ATS, so not much there to see. The Rockets are led by star C Christian Wood. They started the season 1-16 and somehow, someway have now won 7 straight.

Nets at Rockets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 109, Rockets 106

Money line

PASS, however, Houston (+250) is worth a slight sprinkle. Considering how many people will likely put money on the Nets, it should climb to an even better payoff.

Against the spread

BET ROCKETS +6.5 (+100) as the best value in this game. They’ve been scorching hot lately, and as noted earlier, the Nets are in somewhat of a trap-game situation.

They are coming off a win in Dallas that required a ton of energy. Over the last five games, the Rockets have the third-best offense and 19th-best defense, far better than their season averages.

The lack of Green and Porter Jr. has helped their offense. It’s been far more through Wood and SF Jae’Sean Tate.

The Rockets also rank third in true-shooting percentage. Sure, it’s a small sample size, but the Rockets are playing so well that I’d bet on them covering a spread against a team primed to have a letdown game.

Brooklyn is 1-2-1 ATS without rest.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 224.5 (-107) as the Rockets are due for some regression and the Nets have one of the best defenses in the NBA.

While I envision some tired legs from Brooklyn, it should still manage to quell an ultra-hot Houston team. The Nets thrive at defending the 3, and the Rockets are averaging the 10th most in the league over their last 5 games.

With tired legs on one side and the other primed to take a step backward, I’d side with this Under. Brooklyn is 10-14 O/U this season, while Houston is 10-13 O/U, so it’s been more profitable to be the Under this season for both sides.

Brooklyn Nets at Houston Rockets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Brooklyn Nets at Houston Rockets NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Brooklyn Nets (23-13) visit Toyota Center Wednesday to play the Houston Rockets (11-22) at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Nets-Rockets odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Brooklyn is the odds-on favorite to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals and is trampling foes recently. The Nets have won nine of their last 10 games and covered the spread in each of those victories. They outscored opponents 120.1-110.4 in those games.

The Rockets are on the opposite side of the performance-spectrum and have lost 12 straight (1-11 ATS) since C Christian Wood went out due to an ankle injury. Over the 12-game span, Houston is last in net rating, rebounding percentage and effective field-goal shooting.

Nets 123, Rockets 119

Money line (ML)

PASS with a lean on Rockets (+375) because I like Houston to cover the spread and often will sprinkle on an underdog’s money line when taking them to cover.

Against the spread (ATS)

There’s really no statistical justification for backing the ROCKETS +10 (-110) in this spot, but this is Houston’s Super Bowl and all the Brooklyn edges are accounted for in the bookmakers’ opening line.

Despite Houston tanking since Wood’s absence, Nets-Rockets opened with Brooklyn favored by 6.5 points and it’s been steamed up to 10 points based on no new information.

According to Pregame.com, nearly 90% of the market is taking the Nets in this spot and it’s typically a profitable strategy fading this lopsided of a betting market.

Furthermore, based on how Nets G James Harden exited Houston after nine seasons, the Rockets are going to be amped for his return to Houston. Motivation is vital in NBA regular-season handicapping and I don’t see Harden being motivated to crush his former team.

Rockets’ owner Tilman Fertitta announced Houston will be retiring Harden’s jersey, Harden got to pick his destination and the Brooklyn experience thus far is everything he could’ve hoped for.

BET the ROCKETS +10 (-110) for 1.25 units to cover against a fat-and-happy Nets team.

Over/Under (O/U)

Since Wood has been out of the lineup, Houston is averaging the third-most 3-point attempts per game and given Brooklyn’s shaky defense, I like the Rockets to get hot from deep tonight.

Also, there’s a very thin chance Houston’s defense is able to bottle up Brooklyn’s league-leading offense, so I expect a motivated Rockets team to at least keep up with the Nets’ scoring.

GIMME OVER 229.5 (-110) for 1 unit.
