No. 1 player in Hawaii commits to Nebraska

On Sunday evening, the No. 1 recruit in the state of Hawaii announced his commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

On Sunday evening, the No. 1 recruit in the state of Hawaii announced his commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Waipahu High School offensive lineman Preston Taumua chose the Huskers over Alabama, Arizona, Auburn, and Oregon.

All four major recruiting services rank Taumua as a 4-star prospect and the No. 1 player in the state of Hawaii. He is listed as an interior offensive lineman who stands at 6-3.5, 300-pounds.

Nebraska now holds four commitments in the class of 2024 on the interior offensive line. Taumua is joined by Gibson PyleLanden Davidson, and Jake Peters, who are all committed to the Cornhuskers.

Taumua is the highest-ranked Hawaiin prospect to commit to Nebraska since No. 1 ranked prospect Wynden Ho’ohull committed to the class of 2021. Ho’ohull would transfer to Hawaii back in January of 2022.

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to the No. 1 recruit in Nebraska

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to four-star tight end recruit Carter Nelson.

Nelson is ranked as the top player in Nebraska. He’s the No. 179 recruit in the class of 2024. Nelson is the No. 9 tight end in the class of 2024.

Georgia football has done an excellent job of recruiting the tight end position in recent seasons. Kirby Smart and the Dawgs signed four-star tight ends Lawson Luckie and Pearce Spurlin in the class of 2023.

Carter Nelson has recent scholarship offers from Purdue, Illinois, Texas A&M, and Miami. Nelson is a standout player for Ainsworth High School in Ainsworth, Nebraska.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound tight end plays in an eight-man football league in Nebraska. The four-star tight end recruit also plays basketball. He shows excellent athleticism.

Nebraska commits react to the hiring of Matt Rhule

The Nebraska Cornhuskers hired former Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule. Some of Nebraska’s commits reacted to the news.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have found their new head coach. After a lengthy process, they have hired former Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule. Rhule enjoyed great success as a collegiate head coach at both Baylor and Temple.

In 2013, Temple had a 2-10 record in Rhule’s first season. He quickly turned the program around, and they won 10 games in 2015 and made it to the Boca Raton Bowl.

In 2017, Rhule became the head coach at Baylor, and his tenure followed a similar pattern. They had an abysmal 1-11 record in his first season. In 2019, the Bears went 11-3 and made it to the Sugar Bowl.

Nebraska offered a 2024 3-star TE from Louisiana.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have offered 2024 three-star tight end Hubert Caliste Jr. He announced the news on Twitter.

Caliste attends St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, LA. On3 ranks him as the 39th-best tight end in the 2024 class. He is listed at 6’5″ and 235 pounds. His father, Hubert Caliste Sr., played safety at San Diego State.

Caliste has received offers from Florida State, Grambling State, and Troy. He took an unofficial visit to Florida State on October 29th.

The Cornhuskers continue to recruit aggressively in the state of Louisiana. They have found some success gaining commitments from wide receiver Omarion Miller and running back Arnold Barnes III.

Colorado State transfer DT Devin Phillips received an offer from Nebraska.

Colorado State defensive tackle Devin Phillips received an offer from Nebraska. “I am blessed to receive an offer from the University of Nebraska!” Phillips tweeted.

Phillips played four seasons at Colorado State, and he appeared in 36 games. As a senior, he recorded 33 total tackles, four tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks in 12 games. In October, he announced that he planned on exercising his redshirt year and entered the transfer portal.

Phillips has received offers from Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic, Kansas, Marshall, Old Dominion, Oklahoma State, Sam Houston State, Tulane, and Western Kentucky.

The Cornhuskers have not landed a defensive lineman in their 2023 recruiting class, thus far.

2023 offensive lineman Grant Seagren has committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers as a preferred walk-on.

“I’m excited to announce that I have decided to continue my education and football career at the University of Nebraska,” Seagren tweeted.

Seagren attends Oakland-Craig High School in Oakland, NE, where he plays offensive lineman, tight end, and defensive end. As a senior, he had seven receptions for 186 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, he had 27 total tackles, four tackles for loss, and one sack. He received offers from Chadron State, Midland, St. Thomas, and Wayne State.

Seagren joins linebacker Korver Demma and tight end Cayden Echternach as preferred walk-on commits.

247 Sports ranks Todd as the 40th-best cornerback in the class. He attends Southfield A&T in Southfield, MI. He is listed at 6’1″ and 170 pounds.

Todd has received offers from Akron, Bethune-Cookman, Boston College, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Louisville, Marshall, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Temple, and Tennessee. 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball predicts Todd will commit to Michigan. Meanwhile, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine lists Boston College as the favorites to land Todd.

Todd recently visited Michigan and said that they were “at the top of his list”.

“I love Michigan,” Todd told On3’s EJ Holland. “They are for sure at the top of my list right now.”

Nebraska offers top in-state kicker

Nebraska offered the top in-state kicker, Tristan Alvano, following his game-winning field goal in the Class A state title game.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have extended a full scholarship offer to kicker Tristan Alvano. They previously offered him as a preferred walk-on.

Kohl’s ranks Alvano as the top in-state kicker and sixth-best kicker in the country. He has received offers from Air Force, Army, and North Dakota State. He attends Omaha Westside High School, and he is coming off an outstanding season. This season, he hit 16 field goals, which broke the state record, including a 57-yarder in October. According to MaxPreps, he also made all 66 of his extra-point attempts.

Alvano’s best single-game performance came in the Class A title game on Monday, in which he made a 45-yard game-winning field goal. Overall, he made five field goals; his longest was from 50 yards.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are one of eight finalists for 2023 three-star defensive lineman Caleb Bryant. The other seven finalists are Oregon, USC, Jackson State, Mississippi State, Alcorn State, Miami, and Missouri.

247 Sports Composite ranks Bryant as the 54th overall defensive lineman in the 2023 class. On3 is even higher on Bryant; they rate him as a four-star recruit and rank him as the 38th-best defensive lineman in the nation. He attends Vicksburg High School in Vicksburg, MS. In 2021, he recorded 78 tackles, 11 sacks, and 14 tackles for loss.

Bryant committed to Utah in June. However, he decommitted in August. He has received a whopping 30 offers.

The Cornhuskers are still waiting to land their first commit in the 2024 class. Meanwhile, Alexander is the Badgers’ only commit in the class, thus far.
