Nebraska baseball lands two 2026 Creighton Prep recruits

The Nebraska baseball team started the month of August off strong, landing two more recruits in the 2026 class.

The Nebraska baseball team started the month of August off strong, landing two more recruits in the 2026 class. Both recruits stand as a home-grown Huskers and hail from the same school, Creighton Prep.

Cal Anthony and Charlie Ziola announced their commitments to Nebraska. Anthony made the announcement first before Ziola made the decision on X (formerly Twitter) Friday afternoon.

Cal Anthony stands at 6-feet, 2-inches and 190 pounds. The southpaw played on Creighton Prep’s JV roster in his freshman year before being elevated to the varsity level his sophomore season as a pitcher and outfielder.

In the 2024 varsity season, Anthony finished with a batting average of .406 off 69 at-bats delivering 28 hits, 19 RBIs, three doubles, three home runs and a triple.

Ziola also pitches and plays outfield but plays first base as well. The left-hander also started his freshman year on JV but was brought up to varsity near the end of the season. In the 2023-2024 season, Ziola finished with a .265 batting average off 83 at-bats. He brought in 22 hits, 16 RBIs, six doubles and two triples.

Anthony and Ziola now joins Brody Jindra and Bryce Fountain in Nebraska’s 2026 recruiting class.

Husker baseball picks up another commitment

A class of 2025 baseball prospect has announced his commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

A class of 2025 baseball prospect has announced his commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Carter Kutz is a 6-3, 185 pound C/RHP/3B out of Hartford, Wisconsin.

Kutz made the announcement on social media.

First of all I would like to thank God, My parents, coaches, siblings, family, friends and everyone who has supported me through this decision. With that being said I am blessed and thankful for the opportunity to announce my commitment to the University of Nebraska! I couldn’t be more excited to live out my lifelong dream as a child to play college baseball and county be happier to have the opportunity to live this dream out at the University of Nebraska. Everyone throughout this journey has made it a great one and I am so grateful.

According to Perfect Game, Kutz is the tenth commitment to the class of 2025.

Right-handed Oklahoma pitcher and shortstop commits to Nebraska

The Nebraska baseball team earned another commitment on Monday afternoon.

The Nebraska baseball team earned another commitment on Monday afternoon. Pryce Bender from Edmond, Oklahoma, announced on Twitter that he’ll continue his athletic and academic career as a Husker. 

Bender is entering his senior year at Edmond North High School and plays as a right-handed pitcher and shortstop. Bender’s also a part of The Show 405 Baseball team in Choctaw, Oklahoma. 

Listed at 6-3, 165 pounds, Bender is a versatile player on the field and in the batter’s box. In 2022, he finished his season at Edmond North with a batting average of .419, earning 49 hits for 47 RBIs through 40 games. He also went 11-for-11 in stolen bases in the same season. For The 405, the stats were very similar, as he finished with a batting average of .427, earning 38 hits for 38 RBIs through 33 games. 

Bender’s three main pitches on the pitcher’s mound include the fastball, the curveball, and the change-up. His top speed for the fastball is currently 90mph.

Right-handed pitcher commits to Nebraska

A class of 2024 pitcher has committed to the University of Nebraska.

A class of 2024 pitcher has committed to the University of Nebraska. Blake Encarnacion is a 6-4 175-pound pitcher out of Friendswood, Texas.

He made the announcement on social media.

I am honored to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic dreams at the University of Nebraska. I want to thank God for all the opportunities I have received this past year. I’m thankful for all of my family, friends and coaches who have pushed me to be who I am today. Thank you to my parents who believed and allowed me to pursue my dreams at playing at the next level. Thank you Coach Bolt, Coach Childress, Coach Harvell, and Coach Sirianni for allowing me to have this opportunity to be a Husker. 

The right-handed pitcher has a fastball that hits between 86-89 MPH and has topped at 91 MPH. He also has a slider that hits 75-78 MPH and has topped at 80 MPH.
