Notre Dame Podcast to be Named: Clemson Recap

Can’t get enough of Notre Dame’s upset win over Clemson on Saturday? Neither can we. Enjoy the latest episode of the podcast right now!

Notre Dame’s upset of Clemson on Saturday has the Fighting Irish fan base still buzzing days later.

On Tuesday night I finally got some free time to sit and record thoughts from the game and some of the long-term affects a win like this could have on the Notre Dame football program with Nathan Erbach.

Notre Dame’s victory and how they pulled it off are discussed, as are the legacy of Ian Book, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah’s sky-rocketing draft stock, Brian Kelly’s biggest win to date and how incredibly reliant Kyle Hamilton is even if he’s not making highlight plays on a given night.

You can listen to the episode on Anchor or simply by clicking play below.

We’re hoping to be able to get a full preview episode out before the Notre Dame vs. Boston College game on Saturday as well so be on the lookout for that later this week as well.

As always, thanks for listening and for the support.

Go Irish.

Notre Dame football: Doerer expects to return in 2021

The return of Notre Dame’s kicker will have a positive impact on what they’re able to do with the rest of their ’21 recruiting efforts

Notre Dame is set to benefit from the NCAA’s decision to essentially allow fall athletes to play this season without using a year of eligibility.

Placekicker and Lou Garza watch list member Jonathan Doerer told the media on Tuesday that his plan as of now is to remain in the blue and gold next fall.

“Most likely I’ll be coming back next year” Doerer said.

Doerer is 3 of 4 on field goal attempts this season and a perfect 9 of 9 on extra point attempts.

This allows Notre Dame to run the rest of their 2021 recruiting efforts without having to potentially offer a kicker as one of the better ones in the entire nation is set to return to Notre Dame.

That scholarship can then go to use at a different position of need for the 2021 season.

Doerer has been a pleasant sight for Notre Dame fans as he was successful on 17 of 20 field goal attempts last year, hitting both attempts from over 50 yards.  He’s also only missed one extra point in his career.

Notre Dame’s Rees: Tom or Tommy?

When he was Notre Dame’s quarterback it was Tommy Rees but when he moved to the coaching staff he apparently grew up and became Tom.

Former Notre Dame quarterback Rees from 2010-2013 returned to campus in 2017 as quarterbacks coach before being promoted Tuesday to offensive coordinator at the school.

When he was Notre Dame’s quarterback it was Tommy Rees but when he moved to the coaching staff he apparently grew up and became Tom. Or at least some people in more powerful positions or something wanted him to be.

What has happened is that we’ve entered to one of the hottest debates of our time: is it Tom or Tommy Rees?

Because I first heard of him as Tommy he has always been Tommy Rees to me.

Just like one of my best friends from childhood – I grew up calling him Ronnie. Just because we’re in our thirties now and he’s married doesn’t mean I’m going to call him Ron, even if he calls himself that now. You were Ronnie when I first met you and you’re Ronnie now, dammit.

But back to Rees. I have been a Tommy loyalist like I said. When others went with Tom, I’ve stayed with Tommy. Had he made some formal request to be called Tom I suppose I would have changed it, but I never got that memo.

The good news is this great debate that has captivated Notre Dame nation of whatever you want to call it can be officially put to rest because the man himself has spoken.

It doesn’t get much more official than that. Now get changing and fixing all your press releases, Notre Dame!

Good start.
