Son of Georgia football legend commits to Notre Dame

Four-star linebacker recruit, son of former All-SEC Georgia Bulldogs safety commits to Notre Dame

Thomas Davis Jr., who is the son of former Georgia Bulldogs safety Thomas Davis Sr., committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Davis Jr. is a four-star linebacker recruit in the class of 2026.

Davis Jr. plays for Weddington High School, which is located in Matthews, North Carolina. Davis Jr. is the No. 164 recruit in the class of 2026. He is the No. 10 linebacker in the country and the No. 11 prospect in North Carolina.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker announced his commitment to Notre Dame via social media.

Davis Jr. appears to be taking a different path from his father, who played at Georgia in the early 2000s. However, there is still plenty of time left for Georgia to recruit Davis Jr.

Thomas Davis Sr. was selected to the All-SEC first team in 2003 and 2004 and earned a consensus All-American selection in 2004. Davis Sr. was a first-round NFL draft pick and had a long career in the NFL primarily with the Carolina Panthers. Davis Sr. made three Pro Bowls and earned the Walter Payton Man of the Year award in 2014.

Pundits still down on Notre Dame despite win against Louisville

Notre Dame still isn’t getting much love post-NIU.

One might think that Notre Dame beating Louisville, and looking generally much better while doing it, would be enough to vault the Fighting Irish into certain experts’ top 10 rankings.

Especially given the Ole Miss and Georgia losses.

Well, think again.

Neither Joel Klatt nor Danny Kannell have the Irish in their top 10 — or top 12 in Kannell’s case.

Klatt’s top 5 is Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, Tennessee and Georgia. Kannell’s top 5 is Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Miami and Oregon.

Perhaps Notre Dame fans shouldn’t be too surprised. It’s going to be an uphill climb after the Week 2 failure against Northern Illinois, and the Irish’s schedule is considered less challenging than usual.

That said, if the Irish continue to win and play well, perhaps they’ll be back on the pundits’ radar.

Every photo from Notre Dame’s triumphant win over Louisville

Check out all the great photos from Notre Dame’s win over Louisville

It was a great Saturday in South Bend this weekend, as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team held off the Louisville Cardinals to win 31-24.

The top-25 win makes that No. 9 for head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] in his third year, which is close to besting an Irish record that was started in 1940. Notre Dame moved to 4-1 on the year, as they continue to make their way to a potential [autotag]College Football Playoff[/autotag] spot.

The game against the Cardinals had a bit of everything for both teams, as multiple big plays happened early and although they didn’t span the whole game, it was still extremely exciting.

You can re-live all of the action below, photo-style, as these are the best shots of Notre Dame’s win over Louisville.

The Irish’s victory in photo form

Notre Dame football hosted Miami (OH) during Week 4 of college football, and the Irish came out victorious with a 28-3 triumph.

While it wasn’t the most aesthetically pleasing win for Notre Dame, it was still a win. There were plenty of highlights from the Irish, as they found the end zone four separate times, got two turnovers from the defense, and blocked a field goal.

Most of those big plays were caught by the cameras, as Notre Dame played a decent game, and it was enough to come out on the right side of the scoreboard. The win improved the Irish’s record to 3-1, as they will remain ranked inside the top-25 when the polls are updated later on Sunday.

Notre Dame football drops its Week 4 hype video

“I flex the biceps so I can push back”

You know its game day is almost here when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football social media team drops the game trailer for the week.

The Irish are coming off a resounding win on the road against Purdue, one that they desperately needed after falling at home to Northern Illinois the week before. Notre Dame will host Miami (OH) this weekend, in a game that should look similar to what we saw last week.

Speaking of that win, the Redhawks game trailer is filled with highlights from the first two wins with what has been the theme music of the season, old school hip-hop. This time it was EPMD’s hit “Crossover” as the background while seeing the Irish fly all over the field.

While on paper this game is a big mismatch, Notre Dame will still have to handle its business and, as the caption reads, have unit strength to come out victorious.

Notre Dame linebacker Jack Kiser has a big day off the field

Kiser gets some big recognition for his work off the field

If you haven’t seen Peacock’s “Here Come the Irish” Notre Dame Fighting Irish football docuseries, then you missed out on an off the field look at linebacker[autotag]Jack Kiser[/autotag] .

The Indiana native knows how important it is for him to represent the Irish as a home-state star, and has gone out of his way to help the community. Kiser was honored by AllState twice on Tuesday, as he was selected as a member of the Good Works Team and named a semifinalist for the [autotag]Wuerffel Trophy[/autotag].

The award is given out annual to a player across the nation for their work on the field, in the community and in the classroom.

It’s surely a great honor for Kiser to be recognized for his efforts off the field, but he doesn’t do it for that. Clearly he’s as great of a person as he is a football player.

The best photos of Notre Dame football’s rout of Purdue

These phots computers the big victory for the Irish against Purdue

It was quite a weekend for Notre Dame football, as they bounced back from a Week 2 loss and proceeded to run the Purdue Boilermakers out of its own building.

The Irish offense accounted for 580-yards while the defense allowed just 162, which showed in the final score of 66-7. There were more than a few highlights for Notre Dame, who jumped out to a 42-0 halftime lead, which enabled them to get plenty of work for some players lower on the depth chart.

Unfortunately for the Irish, they lost three starters in the game, two of which will miss the remainder of the season due to knee injuries. While this was the bad that came out of the victory, there was much more good to come out of it.

Thankfully, there were plenty of shots of the action. Check out below the best Notre Dame football pictures from this weekends resounding win at Purdue.

Notre Dame Must Fix This Issue To Contend In ’24

Where Notre Dame needs to clear things up in 2024 to be playing in the CFP…

Notre Dame is certainly trending in the right direction as we’ve turned the calendar to 2024. Marcus Freeman is finding his footing as the head man, the assisting staff instills confidence on both sides of the ball, and the roster has a nice blend of veterans and young talent. The Irish fully intends to make a real run in the inaugural 12-team expanded CFP.

With this framework in mind, I start to think hard about what hurdles there may be for Notre Dame as they try and truly make some noise next season. One of these challenges is how the Irish performed in true road contests in 23′. Not well. Slow starts. Sluggish play. Not able to match the emotion of the home squad. This trend led directly to two losses and almost a third, ruining the high-end prospects of the season.

Let’s examine the evidence of this issue and what may be causing it.

Notre Dame Football: Which QB Style is Best for Irish Success?

What style quarterback would be best at Notre Dame?

As Notre Dame gears up for what will be a supremely intriguing Spring Football session, many questions arise. One of the top ones revolves around the Irish’s quarterback room. Presently, Riley Leonard, Steve Angeli, Kenny Minchey, and CJ Carr are all excited to show what they can do. Each has special specific gifts that have gotten them to this point in their careers and this is the deepest quarterback room I can recall Notre Dame having in a long time.

With this in mind, looking at the Notre Dame quarterback picture big picture, what style of quarterback do you prefer? Do you like a more traditional passer like CJ Carr projects to be? Or do you prefer a mobile more athletic dual threat like Deuce Knight? I generally prefer, with exceptions we will address later on, a dual-threat ultra-mobile player. Let me explain why.

Notre Dame Football: New Found Confidence in Fighting Irish

Feeling better about Notre Dame football lately? You’re not alone…

Recently, with all of the massive changes going on within college football, there’s been plenty of talk from me and others about Notre Dame’s place and standing in whatever college football may end up looking like. How will the Irish adapt? How will they fare in the new College Football Playoff model? How will Notre Dame navigate a landscape that now feels more professional than collegiate?

These are legitimate questions and concerns. One that especially in the last 30 years would have been existential threats due to a lack of proper administrative action to protect and support football along with inadequate coaching leadership. I feel that this has changed recently on multiple fronts and I now have more faith than I have previously in Notre Dame’s ability to navigate this new landscape and still try to compete.

Let’s examine why I feel this way.
