Iowa transfer portal target chooses SEC program instead

One of Iowa football’s targets out of the transfer portal landed with an SEC program instead.

One of the Iowa Hawkeyes‘ targets in the NCAA transfer portal chose an SEC program instead.

Though he visited Iowa alongside new Hawkeye quarterback Hank Brown, defensive end Langden Kitchen announced his commitment to the Missouri Tigers.

Kitchen visited Iowa City and took in the Cy-Hawk Series between Iowa and No. 3 Iowa State on Dec. 12.

Ultimately though, the Northwest Missouri State transfer chose to stay close to home with the Missouri Tigers.

A native of Huntsville, Missouri, Kitchen totaled 21 tackles, 8 1/2 tackles for loss and 5 1/2 sacks in 11 games this past season with the Bearcats.

The 6-foot-7, 270-pound defensive end chose Missouri over offers from Iowa, Kansas and Wisconsin.

Iowa will have to turn its attention elsewhere if it wants transfer portal help on the edge of its defensive line for 2025.

Senior defensive end Deontae Craig departs the program after a 2024 campaign in which he tallied 38 tackles, six quarterback hurries, 2 1/2 tackles for loss and one sack.

Ethan Hurkett recently announced he is returning to Iowa to use one final season of eligibility. Hurkett, an Iowa native from Cedar Rapids, came alive for Iowa this season. He registered 55 total tackles, 11 1/2 tackles for loss, 6 1/2 sacks and three forced fumbles.

Brian Allen and Max Llewellyn are two other Iowa edge returnees who  combined for 37 tackles, 12 1/2 tackles for loss, nine quarterback hurries and 8 1/2 sacks.

The Hawkeyes also landed five-star defensive end Iose Epenesa in their 2025 signing class.

Former Iowa TE headed to MAC program

The former Iowa TE has found his transfer portal landing spot in the MAC.

Former Iowa football tight end Grant Leeper has found his transfer portal destination.

Leeper revealed that he is headed to Miami (Ohio), announcing his decision to join the Redhawks earlier this week. Miami has enjoyed an 8-5 (7-1 MAC) campaign that took the Redhawks all the way to the conference championship game against Ohio.

A redshirt freshman for Iowa in 2024, Leeper departs the Hawkeyes after seeing action in two games this season but failing to record any statistics.

Reports that Leeper was entering the NCAA transfer portal surfaced on Dec. 9.

Though the door was open for a potential return to Iowa, Leeper ultimately decided upon joining Miami (Ohio).

The 6-foot-5, 248 pound tight end signed with Iowa in the Hawkeyes’ 2023 class. A native of Fort Wayne, Ind., Leeper was regarded as a consensus three-star signee.

Leeper was rated as the nation’s No. 27 tight end and as the No. 6 player in Indiana in the 2023 class by 247Sports. According to the 247Sports composite, Leeper was the nation’s No. 944 player overall.

Meanwhile, On3 ranked Leeper as the country’s No. 33 tight end and as the No. 7 player from Indiana. The On3 industry ranking placed Leeper as the 1,127th-ranked player overall in the 2023 class.

As Iowa turns its attention toward the 2025 season, the Hawkeyes’ tight end room still features scholarship tight ends Addison Ostrenga, Zach Ortwerth, Michael Burt and Gavin Hoffman.

The Hawkeyes also signed tight ends Thomas Meyer, Eli Johnson and Mason Woods in its 2025 signing class.

‘This is getting out of hand,’ Texas A&M coach Mike Elko discusses NIL and transfer portal

“Obviously, this is less than ideal to be going through what we’re going through right now roster wise with games coming down the stretch.”

This time of year, any time a sports fan opens X, formerly known as Twitter, there is a college football player announcing their entrance into the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Texas A&M coach Mike Elko recently shared his thoughts about the portal and Name, Image & Likeness.

“Obviously, this is less than ideal to be going through what we’re going through right now roster wise with games coming up down the stretch. I don’t have a great solution other than, at some point, we’ll have to figure out some kind of centralized leadership for college football because this is getting out of hand,” Elko proclaimed Tuesday afternoon. “Now, more than ever, this sport needs somebody to step in and create some type of rules and regulations. I am all for the portal. I am all for NIL. I have no problems managing any of that.

“There is a lot of unregulated stuff going on right now, and it’s going to impact young people and young people’s futures.”

The Aggies (8-4) will play USC (6-6) in the Las Vegas Bowl at Allegiant Stadium on Dec. 27 at 9:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.

The 6-foot-2, 339 pound transfer went to Arizona from Long Beach Poly High School in Long Beach, California.

He started in 11-of-12 games for Arizona in 2024 and also earned second-team All-Pac 12 honors in 2023.

Iowa linked as potential transfer portal landing spot for Big Ten QB

Iowa football is reportedly in the mix for another Power Four transfer portal QB.

With the winter transfer portal window open, the Hawkeyes’ activity to reshape its 2025 roster is underway.

According to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos, Iowa football may be in the running to land former Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula.

Nakos included Iowa alongside both Missouri and UCF as three early schools to watch as potential landing spots for Pribula.

Through his two collegiate seasons, Pribula is 37-of-56 (66.1%) passing for 424 yards, nine touchdowns, and a lone interception. Pribula has also carried 94 time for 571 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.

Despite serving as the Nittany Lions’ backup quarterback, Pribula played an instrumental role in Penn State reaching the Big Ten Championship Game and eventually the College Football Playoff.

Pribula stepped in to replace an injured Drew Allar during the second half of the Nittany Lions’ eventual 28-13 win at Wisconsin. The 6-foot-2, 207 pound signal-caller directed a pair of touchdown drives in the second half versus the Badgers.

Pribula completed 11-of-13 passes for 98 yards and one touchdown in the win. The York, Pa., native also rushed six times for 28 yards against Wisconsin.

Pribula, a redshirt sophomore who has appeared in 24 games over the past two seasons with the Nittany Lions, announced via social media on Dec. 15 that he would be entering the transfer portal.

Iowa has already inked former Auburn quarterback Hank Brown, but the Hawkeyes want to continue building out a quarterback room that also features Brendan Sullivan and Jackson Stratton.

Pribula’s dual-threat ability could be a terrific match with first-year Hawkeye offensive coordinator Tim Lester and Iowa’s offense.

Pribula is rated as a three-star transfer per 247Sports. The recruiting service ranks Pribula as its No. 12 quarterback and as the No. 86 player overall.

A member of Penn State’s 2022 signing class, 247Sports ranked Pribula as the nation’s No. 27 quarterback and as the No. 14 player from Pennsylvania at that time.

Iowa targets dynamic transfer portal WR from Northern Illinois

Iowa football has targeted Northern Illinois transfer WR Trayvon Rudolph.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have already added the commitment from former Auburn quarterback Hank Brown.

Now, Iowa would like to find some other offensive weapons to continue to enhance the situation for the Hawkeyes’ quarterbacks room.

Per 247Sports’ Allen Trieu, Iowa has offered and is hosting former Northern Illinois wide receiver Trayvon Rudolph on a visit this week.

Rudolph is a speedster that garnered second-team All-MAC honors as both a wide receiver and kickoff returner in 2021 and third-team All-MAC honors in 2023.

In the 2024 season, the 5-foot-10, 187 pound receiver reeled in 37 passes for 392 yards with one 43-yard touchdown grab in the Huskies’ season-opening win over Western Illinois. Rudolph also rushed 14 times for 179 yards and had a pair of scores on the ground this past season.

A native of Crete, Ill., Rudolph’s most productive receiving game of the 2024 season came in his last contest, a nine-grab, 97-yards receiving performance against Central Michigan.

Rudolph enjoyed his best statistical collegiate season in 2021 when he caught 51 passes for 892 yards and seven scores and also carried nine times for 113 yards and one touchdown.

Rudolph missed the 2022 season with a non-contact knee injury. The NIU star returned in 2023 and tallied 51 grabs for 531 yards with a pair of touchdown catches.

During his Northern Illinois career, Rudolph has caught 153 passes for 2,047 yards and 10 scores. Rudolph has also rushed 45 times for 474 yards and four touchdowns.

Another thing that will excite Hawkeye fans is Rudolph’s contributions in the special teams department. Rudolph returned 65 kickoffs for 1,440 yards during his time in DeKalb, Ill., including a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown in October of 2021.

Rudolph was a three-star signee at Northern Illinois and regarded as the nation’s 141st-ranked athlete and as the No. 36 player from Illinois in the 2020 class per 247Sports.

Penn State QB Beau Pribula to enter transfer portal ahead of College Football Playoff

Penn State backup quarterback Beau Pribula enters transfer portal.

Before Penn State ramps up its game week prep for SMU in the first round of the College Football Playoff, the program was dealt a surprise with a transfer portal decision. A key piece of the Nittany Lions offense will enter the portal and will be the program’s most high profile entrant to date.

Penn State quarterback[autotag]Beau Pribula[/autotag] announced on social media that he will enter the transfer portal. Pribula is a redshirt sophomore who has two years of eligibility remaining and has added another dimension to the Penn State offense as Drew Allar’s backup.

Perhaps the biggest immediate concern surrounding Pribula’s departure is that he will be entering the portal immediately and won’t be with the team through the College Football Playoff beginning this weekend against SMU.

The current college football landscape seemed to play a big role in Pribula’s decision. The transfer portal opened last week right as the College Football Playoff was set to begin, forcing players like Pribula into difficult decisions. Pribula likely envisions himself as a starting caliber quarterback meaning he needs to find a home as soon as possible to give himself the best chance to succeed.

It is a tough blow for Penn State who used Pribula quite a bit this season as a change-of-pace quarterback. Pribula completed 26 of 35 passes for 275 yards and five touchdowns with one interception. He also rushed 38 times for 242 yards and four touchdowns. The dual-threat quarterback should be a hot commodity for programs looking for a capable starting signal caller.

Penn State is now left with Allar, redshirt freshman[autotag]Jaxon Smolik[/autotag] and freshman[autotag]Ethan Grunkemeyer[/autotag]. Grunkemeyer drew rave reviews for his performances this spring and in practices. Whether Pribula’s transfer means that Allar is coming back for one more season or another transfer is coming in remains to be seen, but it without a doubt is still a surprise heading into Penn State biggest game of the year.

The Nittany Lions open the College Football Playoff against SMU at Beaver Stadium on Dec. 21 and will now be without Beau Pribula, a key contributor to their offense.

Tennessee sophomore running back Cameron Seldon will enter the NCAA transfer portal.

“Tennessee running back Cameron Seldon plans to enter the transfer portal, he tells On3 Sports,” Pete Nakos announced.

The 6-foot-2, 222-pound running back appeared in six games for the Vols in 2024. He totaled 118 rushing yards and scored one touchdown on 23 attempts.

Seldon played in 19 games at Tennessee from 2023-24, recording 224 rushing yards and one touchdown. He also totaled one reception for -2 yards and six kick returns for 113 yards.

The winter NCAA transfer portal is open Dec. 9-28 for the 2024-25 school year.

Prior to becoming a Bear, Wykoff spent the first two years of his career at Texas A&M. He was selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2022.

Two former Texas A&M football players are reuniting at the University of Houston through the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman officially departed from the Aggies on Wednesday when he chose the Cougars. The next day, California senior offensive lineman Matthew Wykoff chose to join Weigman in Houston.

“Dear Cal Family, I have thoroughly enjoyed the last two years being a part of this team and community,” Wykoff stated via X on Dec. 1. “I am blessed to be graduating this semester, but after lots of deliberation and prayer, I have decided to enter into the transfer portal as a grad transfer with one year of eligibility remaining.

“It has been a honor and Berkeley will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Prior to becoming a Bear, Wykoff spent the first two years of his collegiate career in Aggieland. Wykoff played in 16 games over two seasons at Texas A&M. He was selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2022.
