Warriors drop to No. 10 in Rookie Wire’s latest NBA power rankings

After a five-game losing streak, the Warriors dropped again in Rookie Wire’s latest NBA power rankings.

The Golden State Warriors are coming off a nightmare five-game road swing that featured five consecutive losses. Through six road games to start the season, the Warriors still haven’t recorded a win outside of San Francisco’s Chase Center.

Following the Warriors’ rough patch on the road, the defending champions have fallen in Rookie Wire’s latest set of power rankings. After starting the season with the top spot, the Warriors fell to No. 7 in week two. In the newest edition of power rankings, Golden State took another step back. This week Cody Taylor of Rookie Wire penciled the Warriors in at No. 10 on the list.

Via Rookie Wire:

Golden State has lost five straight games, which were all on the road. They are the first defending champion to lose their first six road games in a season. Steve Kerr & Co. are looking at all of their options to get things turned around and that includes a promotion for Jonathan Kuminga into the rotation. We’ll see if that helps them.

The Memphis Grizzlies, Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks rounded out the top three spots on Rookie Wire’s power rankings. To see the complete list of teams, click over to Rookie Wire here.

On Monday, the Warriors snapped their losing streak with a much-needed comeback win at home over the Sacramento Kings. Steph Curry paced the team with a season-high 47 points to get the Warriors back in the win column.

The Warriors will now get three days off before hosting the red-hot Cleveland Cavaliers at Chase Center on Friday.

Rookie Wire: OKC Thunder moves up in latest NBA power rankings

The Thunder improved on its ranking from @RookieWire

Rookie Wire released its latest NBA power rankings on Monday, and writer Cody Taylor continues to put the Oklahoma City Thunder on the rise.

The Thunder, who were ranked No. 25 in the last power rankings, rose to No. 24 this week.

“After racing to a 4-3 start, the Thunder have dropped two straight. They are coming off a 108-94 loss to the Bucks, who were without Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 18 points. Despite the two-game skid, the defense has been one bright spot in the early going, though. They rank seventh in the NBA in that category.”

The Thunder are 4-6 and in the midst of a three-game losing streak. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to play like one of the best players in league, averaging 30.8 points on 53.9% shooting.

Warriors fall to No. 7 in Rookie Wire’s latest set of NBA power rankings

The Warriors have fallen from the top spot in @RookieWire’s latest NBA power rankings.

The Golden State Warriors’ title defense has opened with a surprising start. After starting the 2022-23 season with a pair of wins in their first three games, the Warriors have struggled, especially away from San Francisco’s Chase Center.

Following a win over the Miami Heat last Thursday, the Warriors ventured out on their first five-game road swing of the 2022-23 campaign. Through their first two games on the trip, the Warriors are still looking for their first win.

Over the weekend, the Warriors have dropped back-to-back upset losses to the Charlotte Hornets and Detriot Pistons. After three games on the road, the Warriors are still winless outside of the Bay Area.

Following Golden State’s recent misstep, the Warriors have fallen in Rookie Wire’s latest set of NBA Power Rankings. After holding the No. 1 spot to start the season, the Warriors have dropped to No. 7 in Cody Taylor’s latest list.

Via Rookie Wire:

The Warriors have dropped their first two games of their five-game road trip to fall under .500. They lost to the Hornets and Pistons and still have the Heat, Magic and Pelicans left before returning home. It is far too early to be concerned about the defending champs, but things aren’t exactly going great, either.

The Portland Trail Blazers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks ranked in front of the Warriors in Rookie Wire’s new power rankings.

Read the full list of power rankings via Rookie Wire here.

The Warriors still have a chance to salvage their road trip with three games left before returning home to the Bay Area. The Warriors will travel to South Beach for a rematch against the Miami Heat on Tuesday evening.

Rookie Wire: OKC Thunder ranked No. 29 in latest NBA power rankings

The Thunder are ranked No. 29 with the first week of the season under wraps.

It’s been roughly a week since the 2022-23 regular season started, which means the first batch of NBA power rankings has been published.

Rookie Wire’s Cody Taylor released his league-wide power rankings on Monday.

The Oklahoma City Thunder come in ranked 29th as they start their season winless in three games with a 0-3 record. Two of those losses came against the Minnesota Timberwolves; the other was to the Denver Nuggets.

“The Thunder nearly pulled off a huge upset over the Timberwolves on opening night and have since had a few more close losses. They look like a team that is going to compete hard and find themselves around late in games. As is the case with most young teams, putting it together for all 48 minutes will be key this season.”

This is a one-spot jump for the Thunder from the preseason rankings in which Rookie Wire ranked them dead last.

Sixers ranked 7th in latest NBA power rankings for 2022-23 season

The Philadelphia 76ers are ranked 7th in the latest NBA power rankings before the 2022-23 season.

The Philadelphia 76ers have lofty expectations heading into the 2022-23 season after a solid offseason during which they addressed multiple issues. They also expect to benefit from having a full summer of James Harden with the team.

As they prepare for training camp in a couple of weeks, the idea is Harden, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris will be enough to get the Sixers over the top. The front office made enough moves to improve the depth on the roster and the supporting cast received an upgrade around their stars. The time to win is now for the Sixers.

Marc Stein put together his latest power rankings via his substack, and he has Philadelphia ranked seventh:

The wisdom of holding out for James Harden at all costs like Daryl Morey did throughout his first year and a half in Philadelphia remains an open question that will depend on how much Harden rebounds on the floor (and in the conditioning realm). But give Morey this much: He was able to convince Harden to sign a new contract that left sufficient salary cap space to make room for fellow Rockets alumni P.J. Tucker and Danuel House Jr., plus De’Anthony Melton via trade. Then Montrezl Harrell joined them on a minimum. The Sixers’ summer exceeded all expectations.

[pickup_prop id=”25984″]

The Sixers certainly exceeded expectations and now is the time for them to move forward in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia will have to battle the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and other really tough teams in the East, but they have the talent and the experience to get the job done.

Brooklyn Nets rank 10th in ESPN’s way-too-early power rankings

The Brooklyn Nets cracked the top ten of ESPN’s way-too-early power rankings.

The Brooklyn Nets currently sit at number ten in ESPN’s way-too-early NBA power rankings.

According to ESPN, the Nets sit at the very bottom of the top ten with the Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets all ahead.

After the Nets shaky season and surely disappointing postseason the team is lucky to have cracked into the top ten, with the team sitting above other playoff contending teams.

Via ESPN:

Brooklyn remains in a holding pattern as it waits to see if Kyrie Irving picks up his player option heading into the summer. Nets general manager Sean Marks made it clear at his end-of-season press conference that the Nets want players who are committed to being part of the team, and Irving hasn’t proven that he can be counted on to play every game — especially after missing the bulk of New York City home games last season after declining to get the COVID-19 vaccination. As the Nets wait to decide what to do with Irving moving forward, they also have to hope that Ben Simmons recovers from back surgery and is able to play at a high level again next season. Veteran center Andre Drummond played well for the Nets after being acquired from Philadelphia in the Simmons trade, but given the money already on the books, it remains unclear whether Brooklyn will be able to re-sign him.

NBA Power Rankings: The Phoenix Suns might get that rematch with the Bucks they’re looking for

The Suns are somehow still heating up.

The season is finally winding down and we’re about two weeks away from having actual playoff games being played.

That means it’s a great time to take stock of where things are around the league. And you know what that means: It’s time for a good ol’ power ranking.

Which teams are hot? Which teams are cold? Where is everyone at in the standings? And can we get some clarity on this MVP conversation, man?

I can’t answer all of those questions here, obviously, but we’ll definitely tackle some of them as we make our way through the league. It’ll be a fun ride. So, without further ado, let’s get it popping.

NBA Power Rankings: Thunder finish in 28th place for March 21 to March 27 week

The 22-53 Oklahoma City Thunder were ranked 28th overall in @RookieWire ‘s latest NBA power rankings.

Rookie Wire released its latest NBA power rankings on Monday and the Oklahoma City Thunder move up a spot and finish 28th overall. The 22-53 Thunder went 1-2 during the week of March 21 to March 27 with losses to the Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets and a win over the Orlando Magic.

Thunder rookie Josh Giddey was ruled out for the remainder of the season, but another first-year player has stepped up in a big way as of late. Tre Mann scored a rookie team-record 23 points in the second quarter on Tuesday in a loss to the Boston Celtics, which topped his own record set two games prior. He finished with a career-high 35 points in that contest, surpassing the previous OKC rookie record of 34 points by Russell Westbrook.”

During the week, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team in scoring and playmaking with 31 points and nine assists while Isaiah Roby led the team on the board with seven rebounds.

OKC Thunder news: Tre Mann ranked third in rookie power rankings

Tre Mann’s strong week was awarded with finishing third overall in @RookieWire ‘s latest rookie rankings.

In Rookie Wire’s latest rookie power rankings, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Tre Mann came in ranked third overall.

Tre Mann just can’t help but break records when he steps onto the court. The 18th pick has set multiple Thunder franchise records in two of his last three games, and even hit an NBA milestone, too.

On Friday, Mann erupted for 20 points in the second quarter in a loss to the Miami Heat to set the team record for most points in a period by a rookie. Two games later, he surpassed his own record with 23 points in the second quarter in a loss to the Boston Celtics.

Mann finished with a career-high 35 points in that contest, topping the previous OKC rookie record of 34 points by Russell Westbrook. He went a perfect 7-of-7 from 3-point range in the first half, and became the first rookie in NBA history to make seven consecutive 3s.

The Thunder, who have lost 10 straight, host the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. That probably won’t be a fun game to watch, considering their final score when they met on Sunday was 90-85, but maybe tune in to watch the second quarter. Mann may go for 25 at this rate.”

Mann continues to play well recently as the Thunder deal with a high amount of injuries that have forced the rookie to play as a top scoring option. With nine games left in the regular season, the Thunder and Mann look to finish the season strong.
