The Los Angeles Lakers stink. There’s no way around it.
LeBron James or not, this team simply isn’t good. We don’t need more than a week to see it.
After Wednesday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers fell to 0-4 on the season. The only other teams without wins are the 0-3 Sacramento Kings and 0-5 Orlando Magic.
The Lakers are in company of the Kings and Magic. Let that sink in.
PointsBet Sportsbook did. Increasingly popular for its loyalty payouts, PointsBet decided to give Lakers win total under bettors their winnings about seven months early, conceding defeat just a week into the season.
EARLY PAYOUT 🚨
The Lakers suck right now, so we are paying out everyone who bet Under 44.5 and Under 45.5 wins for them this season pic.twitter.com/dc2U8kRFuc

In other words, if you bet on the Lakers to finish the season with fewer than 44 or 45 wins, they’re already giving you your money.
PointsBet did something similar with the Dallas Cowboys after Dak Prescott was injured in Week 1 — a decision it may end up regretting after the 5-2 Cowboys went on to win their next four games.
The sportsbook explained to Bet For The Win that the intention of the early payouts is to build client loyalty through what it considers fair treatment. It also refunded Russell Wilson MVP bettors after his slow start to the season.
It’s still early in the year, so the Lakers payout could still end up being one of the ones that backfires. But unless LA makes some sort of trade to improve the roster, I don’t think PointsBet will have to worry about that.
