Recent 2024 NBA mock draft features Mark Sears

Is Mark Sears NBA-bound? One 2024 NBA mock draft predicts he will go to an annual title contender.

Alabama Crimson Tide basketball guard Mark Sears is going through the NBA draft process, but can still return to the college ranks if he chooses to by May 29. He recently stated that he’s “all in” on the draft, but there’s no way to be sure whether or not he’s NBA-bound.

Sears had the best season of his four-year college career in the 2023-2024 season. He shot 51% from the field, averaged 21.5 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game and four assists per game.

In a recent 2024 NBA mock draft published by The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, Sears lands with the Milwaukee Bucks at No. 33 overall.

“Sears is a smaller guard who would be surrounded by giants on the Bucks, which could be a perfect fit for him to provide a spark as an apprentice behind Damian Lillard,” writes O’Connor.

This prediction puts Sears at the beginning of the second round, which is a respectable draft position. Though the first round would be preferred, this may be an opportunity too good for Sears to pass up.

Only a few days remain for Sears to make a permanent decision. Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama basketball news

The latest 2024 NBA mock draft from CBS has Donovan Clingan to the Trail Blazers

Could the Blazers really take the UConn big man?

Where’s Donovan Clingan going in the 2024 NBA Draft after a terrific March?

In an uncertain NBA Draft class beyond seemingly consensus No. 1 pick Alex Sarr, Clingan has been projected all over the lottery. In our latest 2024 NBA mock draft from Bryan Kalbrosky, he’s got the UConn big man going No. 9 to the Memphis Grizzlies, who could use a Steven Adams replacement. But in the latest CBS Sports mock, he’s going No. 7 to the Blazers, who have Deandre Ayton under contract. But maybe the idea is to let Clingan develop and be ready in a couple of years.

Here’s what Gary Parrish wrote:

Clingan was a monster in the NCAA Tournament while helping UConn win a second straight national championship. The only real thing preventing him from being an ideal big in the modern-NBA is a reliable jumper. But everything else — an ability to block and alter shots, switch comfortably onto smaller players, etc., — is pretty easy to see and why Clingan could be a great long term fixture in the middle for Portland.

Latest NBA Mock Draft has Spurs taking Nikola Topic at No. 4

In a recent NBA Mock Draft, the San Antonio Spurs took Nikola Topic with the fourth pick.

The San Antonio Spurs have landed the fourth and eighth picks in the 2024 NBA Draft via the NBA Draft Lottery. They have a chance to bring in two young prospects to help build around Victor Wembanyama. In the latest mock draft (post-lottery) from Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report, he has the Spurs taking Nikola Topic at No. 4.

“More than anything else, the San Antonio Spurs will value his ability to create shots for teammates with his dribble manipulation, vision and advantageous 6’6″ size for passing,” Wasserman wrote. “The Spurs also don’t have a ball-handler who puts pressure on defenses and the rim like Topić. And it was promising to see him hit both of his three-point attempts in his first game back.

“While his outside percentages have been underwhelming, he shows confidence and command stepping into jumpers, and his free-throw numbers have always been near or over 80.0 percent. Unless the Spurs question the translatability of his scoring or see more upside in a shotmaker, Topić’s production/comfort level overseas and his fit with Victor Wembanyama could give him an edge with San Antonio.”

Topic’s playmaking and ball-handling would give the Spurs a much-needed boost at the point guard position.

New NBA mock drafts have Bronny James still going to the Lakers after the 2024 lottery

This continues to be a trend in NBA mock drafts, even after the lottery.

The questions about Bronny James will continue to swirl as the 2024 NBA Draft process continues.

News came on Monday that the USC player and LeBron’s son was medically cleared ahead of the NBA draft combine, but some think he could also go back to college and transfer. But after the 2024 NBA Draft lottery, mocks still have him going to the Los Angeles Lakers to join his dad next year.

He’s not in the latest NBA mock draft from our Bryan Kalbrosky (but that’s just the first round projected). He is a Lakers pick in both the Yahoo mock the mock from The Sporting News and the one from The Ringer.

The latest 2024 NBA mock draft from ESPN has the Heat taking Zach Edey

Is this really a good fit for the Purdue center?

The 2024 NBA Draft lottery is over, so it’s probably the official time to declare mock season fully open.

And we start with the question of where Purdue center Zach Edey could go. Mock drafts before the lottery had him either as a mid- or late-first rounder, and after the ping-pong balls landed, it seems about the same. In our latest NBA mock draft from Bryan Kalbrosky, he’s got Edey going No. 19 to the Toronto Raptors. And in the newest mock from ESPN.com, Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo have him going No. 15 to the Miami Heat, which is an interesting fit that they addressed.

Here’s what they said about the pick:

Edey’s positional fit alongside Bam Adebayo would be a topic of discussion in Miami, but his productivity, physicality, intensity and team-culture match would be welcomed by the Heat. Adebayo started to slowly incorporate a 3-point shot into his offensive arsenal late this season and has the type of defensive versatility that could be useful alongside another big. Edey’s offensive rebounding and interior scoring are skills the Heat lack, making him an attractive pick here.

Where did Jared McCain, Kyle Filipowski go in The Ringer’s post-lottery NBA mock draft?

See where Jared McCain and Kyle Filipowski ended up in The Ringer’s first NBA mock draft after the lottery.

With the 2024 NBA draft order now set, The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor released his first post-lottery mock draft on Sunday.

In his first projection with the 30-team order fully set, O’Connor projected sharpshooting freshman sensation Jared McCain as the 15th pick to the Miami Heat and All-American 7-footer Kyle Filipowski as the 28th pick to the Denver Nuggets.

McCain would join last year’s Eastern Conference champions, and O’Connor’s scouting report compared the Blue Devil to Seth Curry, another Duke star. The California native shot 41.4% from 3-point range last season and put together two 30-point games in the NCAA Tournament.

Filipowski, if the projection holds, would join last year’s NBA Finals champion. After being named a Second Team All-American as a sophomore in 2023-24, averaging 16.4 points and 8.3 rebounds, he’d have the chance to play alongside and learn from three-time MVP Nikola Jokic.

The prediction moved Filipowski a lot lower than he had been for much of the pre-draft process. Most player rankings consider both Blue Devils prospects top-20 picks.

Atlanta only had a 3.0 percent chance of getting the top pick!

The Hawks (and not the Pistons) shockingly won the 2024 NBA Draft lottery and will have the top selection in the draft next months.

Atlanta came into the day with just a 3.0 percent chance of getting the top pick this year. But now, after making the play-in tournament but missing the playoffs, the Hawks will have an opportunity to add whatever prospect they would like in this class.

Atlanta will have several options when they are on the clock and may even consider trading the pick, but as of right now, 19-year-old big man Alex Sarr is the most likely candidate to hear his name called.

RELATED: The top 9 candidates for the Hawks’ No. 1 pick in the NBA draft

Here is a video of the moment when Hawks general manager Landry Fields found out live on ABC that his team will have the top choice in the draft next month.

Fields clearly knows he will have plenty of paths to consider during the pre-draft process.

Atlanta could add a talented young player to complement Trae Young, they can trade Young and fully embrace a rebuild, or they can choose something somewhere in the middle.

Until then, however, check out our latest post-lottery NBA mock draft.

The latest 2024 NBA mock draft from The Ringer has Bronny James taken by the Lakers

This continues to make sense.

It’s the question that we’ll all be asking in June: will an NBA team actually draft Bronny James? If it’s the Los Angeles Lakers, does that mean they’re doing it to keep LeBron there? And if not … will that team then get LeBron to sign?

We’ve seen some mocks that have him going to the Lakers, which makes sense for the team that wants to keep James happy and in Los Angeles. He’s not in the first round of our latest 2024 NBA mock draft from Bryan Kalbrosky, but he is in the second round of the latest mock from The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, with Bronny to the Lakers at pick No. 55.

Here’s his take:

LeBron James still plays for the Lakers, so it only makes sense that if any team is going to draft his son, who isn’t ready for the NBA, it would be them.

The latest NBA mock draft from CBS has Reed Sheppard going No. 2 overall to the Wizards

Is the Kentucky guard really going to go that high?

The No. 1 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft could be French star Alex Sarr depending on who’s picking there (we’ll find out Sunday when the NBA draft lottery reveals the franchise who gets it).

But who’s after him if that’s the case? And could it be Kentucky guard Reed Sheppard?

Our latest NBA mock draft from Bryan Kalbrosky has Sheppard going No. 8 overall to the Houston Rockets. But in a new NBA mock from CBS Sports has him going No. 2 to the Washington Wizards, an intriguing proposition given that Tyus Jones is a free agent.

Here’s what Gary Parrish had to say about the pick:

Sheppard was among the biggest surprises this season as it pertains to prospects launching themselves into the lottery conversation. Nobody had him projected as a one-and-done top-10 pick — but that’s what he’ll be after shooting 52.1% from 3-point range in his one season at Kentucky while earning CBS Sports National Freshman of the Year honors. Simply put, Sheppard is a plus-athlete who can guard his position, and an elite shooter who can also dribble and pass. The floor here is very, very high. So is the ceiling.

The latest NBA mock draft from CBS has Alex Sarr going No. 1 overall to the Pistons

Seems like Sarr is the favorite to go first overall.

The 2024 NBA Draft has a bit of a mystery at the top of it as the lottery approaches: Who is the No. 1 pick?

Is it France’s Alex Sarr? His countryman Zaccharie Risacher? Serbia’s Nikola Topic?

In the latest 2024 mock draft from our Bryan Kalbrosky, he’s got Sarr to the Detroit Pistons, Topic to the Washington Wizards and Risacher to the San Antonio Spurs. Funny enough, that mirrors how the latest CBS Sports mock from Adam Finkelstein played out — it’s Sarr first overall to the Pistons, which might make sense for the rebuilding franchise even if they have a bunch of centers.

Here’s his take:

This is a class without an obvious No. 1 but Sarr is a mobile 7-footer with an elastic build and clear defensive versatility and upside. The biggest questions are with regard to his offense and the extent to which it develops will ultimately dictate his upside. I don’t love the fit, alongside a bad shooting Detroit team already littered with young bigs, but if the Pistons go for best available, Sarr is the early favorite.
