Prediction

Heat 112, Lakers 108

Money line (ML)

The HEAT (+185) are slight underdogs in Game 6 despite winning two of the last three games in this series. It’s even more surprising considering Davis is clearly limited due to a heel issue.

Miami has found ways to slow down the Lakers offense and it’s clear it has made some adjustments on the offensive end to exploit weaker defenders on the Los Angeles roster. Take the HEAT (+185) to win Game 6 and push this series to a Game 7.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The HEAT +5 (-106) are two-basket underdogs. Miami has covered the spread in four of the five games in this series and is set to do it again Sunday night given how well its defense is playing.

Expect this game to be back-and-forth all night, with the Heat likely prevailing in the end. In the event Miami doesn’t win this game outright, look for the Heat to keep it within 5 points in Game 6. Take the HEAT +5 (-106) to cover this spread versus the Lakers.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for Game 6 is set at 214.5 points, but that feels a bit low considering how the last game went. In Game 5, the total reached 219 points with both offenses missing a ton of open three-point shots. The Over has hit in six of the last nine games featuring the Heat as their offense can get really hot from three.

We saw this occur in Game 5 as SG Duncan Robinson helped save the Heat’s season with multiple 3-point makes in the second half.

Take the OVER in Game 6 as both offenses should approach 110 or more points in this contest. Expect both SF LeBron James and SG Jimmy Butler to put on a show once again in this pivotal game for Miami.

Prediction

Lakers 109, Heat 106

Money line (ML)

The LAKERS (-334) are big money line favorites for the fifth straight contest and it’s easy to understand why. The Lakers are just one game away from clinching the NBA title and have lost a total of four playoff games during this run.

While Miami has been fantastic, Los Angeles is the far superior team. The odds are a bit chalky so feel free to stay away from the money line if it presents too much risk; however, the Lakers can be taken with confidence as they look to close out this series in their “Black Mamba” jerseys.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The HEAT +7.5 (-106) are three-basket underdogs. Miami has been great against the spread of late, covering in four of its previous five games. Los Angeles will want to set the early tempo in this game, but don’t expect Miami to just give away the title.

Look for the Heat to play highly competitive and spirited basketball once again in this contest. Expect the Lakers to win this game, but for the Heat to make it a one or two-possession contest late in the fourth quarter.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for Game 5 of the 2019-2020 NBA Finals is set at 216.5, which feels about right considering how the last game of this series went. Both teams are figuring out one another on the defensive end and making offense significantly harder.

With the Lakers on the verge of winning the title, expect some nerves and shooting woes to open this game. Both defenses will be locked-in as these are two of the smartest and well-coached defensive teams in the NBA.

Take the UNDER 216.5 (-110) as both teams will struggle to approach 110 points.

Prediction

Heat 114, Lakers 112

Money line (ML)

The HEAT (+250) are big money line underdogs once again despite stealing Game 3. SF Jimmy Butler had an all-time performance in that contest and it appeared Miami found a way to break the Lakers’ defense. The Heat could also get back Adebayo for Game 4 and that could help tip the scales in Miami’s favor even more.

Given Los Angeles’ (-312) streaky shooting and inconsistent bench play, MIAMI (+250) is a great money line bet in this contest.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The HEAT +7.5 (-110) are three-basket underdogs Tuesday. Miami has been incredible against the spread of late, covering in 14 of its previous 18 games. The Heat have also covered in back-to-back games in this series as they are making Los Angeles work on both ends of the court. Given the Heat really need to win this game to keep the series alive, look for them to be the more aggressive and urgent team.

If the money line bet is too risky for you, strongly consider taking Miami and the points in this matchup. This should be a close game throughout that likely comes down to the final few possessions.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for Game 4 is set at 218.5 points, which feels about right considering how the last two games have gone between these two teams.

Miami is suddenly finding ways to expose the Lakers’ defense, scoring 114 and 115 points in back-to-back contests. Los Angeles has been hit-or-miss when it comes to offense in this series as it is one of the most inconsistent 3-point shooting teams in the NBA. With Miami playing a ton of zone defense, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Lakers continued to struggle.

Look for James and Davis to be more aggressive in this game and get to the rim far more often than they did in Game 3. Take the OVER 218.5 (-110) as both teams should score into the 110s.

Prediction

Lakers 118, Heat 114

Money line (ML)

The Lakers (-455) are huge money line favorites once again after back-to-back impressive wins over the Heat (+350). The Lakers have been red-hot during these playoffs, winning 10 of their last 11 games. While Miami has been great as well, the Heat are likely to be without two of their top three players in Adebayo and Dragic.

The Lakers should win this game, but there isn’t enough value on their side to bet on them. PASS on this bet in favor of the point spread.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The HEAT +9.5 (-110) are nearly double-digit underdogs against the Lakers in Game 3. Miami has been good against the spread, covering in 13 of its last 17 games. The Heat covered the 10.5-point spread in Game 2, but that was with the help of a few garbage-time baskets by PF Kelly Olynyk.

Miami needs this game to have a chance of staying alive in the series. Look for the Heat to play with a sense of urgency in this one, knowing this is their last real shot of getting back into this series. Take the Heat and the points and hope they can keep this game competitive.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for Game 3 is set at 219.5 points and that feels about right considering how the first two games have gone.

The Lakers scored 116 and 124 points in Games 1 and 2 while Miami’s total has been far lower at 98 and 114. The Lakers are shooting a lot of threes in this series, going 16-for-47 from the 3-point line in Game 2. Expect them to shoot around the same in this contest as the Heat use a zone to try to keep Davis and James out of the paint.

Take the OVER 219.5 (-110) here as both teams should reach 110 or more points.

Prediction

Lakers 118, Heat 112

Money line (ML)

The Lakers (-500) are monster money line favorites over the Heat (+375) on Friday evening. Miami will likely be without two of their top three players in PG Goran Dragic and C Bam Adebayo and that has impacted this line greatly.

Los Angeles held a 30-point lead at one point over Miami in Game 1 and the talent and size differential that will be the court in Game 2 will be significant. However, there isn’t enough value on the Lakers’ Moneyline here to pick them, so PASS on this bet in favor of the point spread.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Lakers -9.5 (-110) are nearly double-digit favorites over the HEAT +9.5 (-110) in Game 2. Los Angeles has been on a roll ATS as of late, covering or pushing eight of their previous ten games. However, Miami has been fantastic as well, going 12-4 in their last 16 games ATS.

The Lakers are likely to win this game given all of the Heat’s injuries, but expect Miami to make some adjustments on the offensive end and keep this close. Don’t be surprised if this game comes down to the final few possessions with the Heat ultimately covering in the final minutes of the contest.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for Game 2 of the 2019-2020 NBA Finals is set at 216.5 (-110) points, which feels about right considering the offensive weapons the Heat will be without in this game.

Both teams shot well from the three-point line in Game 1, but each side would like to shoot a higher percentage around the rim, as well. Look for Miami to shoot even more threes in this contest as they won’t have the size inside to compete with Los Angeles. That should lead to a high-scoring game in which both teams score into the 110s.

Take the OVER 216.5 (-110)in Game 2 as this figures to be a faster-paced game with more guards on the floor for Miami.

Prediction

Heat 113, Lakers 109

Money line (ML)

The HEAT (+165) are moneyline underdogs to the Lakers (-200) in Game 1 of the NBA Finals despite Miami winning 12 of its last 15 games. The Heat have had the tougher road to the NBA Finals, going through the likes of the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics.

The Lakers still should be considered the favorites to win this series given their superior talent, but don’t be surprised if the HEAT (+165) steal Game 1.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Lakers -4.5 (-110) are two-basket favorites over the HEAT +4.5 (-110) on Wednesday night. While Los Angeles has been good against the spread (6-2-1 in its last nine games), it doesn’t even compare to what Miami has done these playoffs.

The Heat have covered the spread in 12 of their 15 playoff games and their losses came late in the fourth quarter or in overtime. Take Miami and the points in Game 1 as it presents the most value.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for Game 1 of the 2019-2020 NBA Finals is set at 217.5 points, which feels about right considering how strong each team has been on defense during these playoffs. During the regular season, both teams allowed fewer than 110 points per game and their defense has only improved in the league’s bubble.

Expect both teams to score well into the 100s in Wednesday’s Game 1. The Lakers have scored at least 105 points in nine-straight playoff games and the Heat have yet to score below 100 points in any playoff game so far. Take the OVER 217.5 (-110) here as both teams have been reliable on the offensive end in the playoffs so far.
