Notre Dame hockey Twitter account has fun with Andrew Peeke tweet

Think he’s listening to something familiar?

Former Notre Dame captain Andrew Peeke is enjoying his first full NHL season with the Columbus Blue Jackets. As he walked into Nationwide Arena on Sunday ahead of his team’s game against the Ottawa Senators, a photo was snapped of him. The photo shows him listening to music, so the Blue Jackets’ Twitter account asked everyone to guess what might be blasting in his ears at that moment. While we might never know the answer to that question, Notre Dame’s hockey account took the only guess it could:

Peeke listening to the Notre Dame Victory March ahead of games wouldn’t be unheard of. After all, professional athletes keeping themselves connected to their college days has been documented throughout history. Perhaps most famously, Michael Jordan wore his shorts from North Carolina underneath his uniform throughout his NBA career. Whatever he’s listening to, let’s hope it helps him play well.

Peeke has scored nine points and accumulated a team-high 26 penalty minutes in 38 games this season.

Previewing Sunday’s Vancouver Canucks at Columbus Blue Jackets sports betting odds, picks and best bets

[jwplayer wcHtPTSE]

The Vancouver Canucks (34-24-6) are back in action against the Columbus Blue Jackets (31-21-14) Sunday at Nationwide Arena at 7 p.m. ET (on ESPN+). We analyze the Canucks-Blue Jackets sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Canucks at Blue Jackets: Projected starting goalies

Louis Domingue vs. Joonas Korpisalo

The Canucks traded for Domingue last week at the deadline due to a knee injury to Jacob Markstrom, as someone with an NHL pedigree was needed to back up Thatcher Demko. Domingue is expected to get his first chance in a Canucks sweater in the second end of a back-to-back. He is 3-8-2 on the season with a .882 save percentage and 3.79 goals against average.

Korpisalo has posted an 18-11-4 record, 2.56 goals-against average and .911 save percentage and two shutouts, but he has been slow to acclimate since returning from injury. He’ll get a chance to face a Canucks team limping in after a 4-2 loss at Toronto last night.

Prediction

Canucks 3, Blue Jackets 2

Moneyline (ML)

The CANUCKS (+115) is worth a look in the second end of their back-to-back situation, as they face a banged-up Blue Jackets (-139) team missing All-Star Seth Jones (ankle) and leading scorer Oliver Bjorkstrand (lower body). The road team is 9-1 in the past 10 meetings in this series, with the Canucks 19-7 in the past 26 meetings, including 5-0 in their past five in Columbus.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Canucks +115 returns a profit of $11.50 if they win.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Canucks (+1.5, -239) aren’t worth a look at this price. Just take them on the moneyline if you like Vancouver. The Blue Jackets (-1.5, +190) are too banged up to trust, even at home, and against a goaltender likely making his team debut.

PASS ON THE PUCK LINE.

Over/Under (O/U)

Go lightly on the UNDER 5.5 (+105) at plus-money. The under is 9-2 in the past 11 meetings in Columbus. The Canucks are also in the third game in four days, and the under is 4-0 in the past four 3-in-4 situations. They’re also in their fourth game in six days, and the under is 3-0-1 in the past 4-in-6 situations. Look for the Under here, too, since the Jackets are banged up and the Canucks are on the second game in as many days with tired legs at the end of a lengthy road trip.

Colorado Avalanche at Columbus Blue Jackets odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Colorado Avalanche at Columbus Blue Jackets sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

The Colorado Avalanche (30-16-6) and Columbus Blue Jackets (30-16-9) will lock horns at Nationwide Arena at 7 p.m. ET Thursday. We analyze the Avalanche-Blue Jackets sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Avalanche at Blue Jackets: Projected starting goalies

Philipp Grubauer vs. Matiss Kivlenieks

Grubauer checks into this one with a 16-11-4 record, 2.78 goals against average (GAA) and .910 save percentage across his 32 starts – he is on pace for a career high in victories. He won 18 games last season to establish a new career best in 33 starts and 37 games. Grubauer hasn’t faced the Blue Jackets this season, but was drummed in two outings in 2018-19. He allowed four goals on 34 shots in Columbus Oct. 9, 2018, and ended up 0-2-0 with a 4.58 GAA and .871 SV% in those two outings last season.

Kivlenieks is expected to start, giving the red-hot Elvis Merzlikins a breather after he posted a shutout Friday night. The latter has a 12-6-4 record, 2.20 GAA and .930 SV% – he has blanked the opposition in five of the previous eight games. Meanwhile, Kivlenieks has been no slouch, going 1-0-1 with a 1.49 GAA and .946 SV% in two starts.

Prediction

Avalanche 3, Blue Jackets 2

Moneyline (ML)

The AVALANCHE (-143) are moderate road favorites, most likely due to the fact the Blue Jackets (+120) just played Friday night and will be using their backup tendy. I’d like to see a little more value and less chalk to eat, but Colorado is still the play.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Avalanche to win returns a profit of $6.99, while a $10 wager on the Blue Jackets results in a profit of $12.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Not a big fan of the puck line bet in this one – Colorado is -1.5, +185; Columbus is +1.5 -228. I think this game has the potential to be a rather low-scoring contest, even with Kivlenieks in the crease rather than Merzlikins. The Blue Jackets have been grinding out plenty of low-scoring wins and relying upon their defense. AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (+105) is a nice value play at plus-money. While it’s all Over all the time for the Avalanche lately, going 4-1 in the past five, and 19-9-1 in the past 29 as a road favorite, it’s all Under for the Blue Jackets recently. The Under is a perfect 4-0 in their past four as a home ‘dog, 42-19-1 in the past 62 at home and 20-8 in the previous 28 games overall for CBJ.
