Alabama basketball set to host Kent State as a part of 2024-25 non-conference schedule

Alabama basketball adds Kent State Golden Flashes to 2024 non-conference schedule

The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball program is coming off of arguably the best season in school history after making their first-ever Final Four appearance. However, this is still the beginning phase of Nate Oats’s tenure in Tuscaloosa as his ultimate goal is to win a national championship.

Oats and his staff are still eagerly awaiting Mark Sears and Jarin Stevenson’s NBA draft decisions, which should come in the following days, but regardless of their decisions, the roster is in great shape. Keeping Grant Nelson around for one more year was the decision that got the ball rolling, then Oats went to work in the portal adding four valuable transfers and an outstanding recruiting class.

Heading into the 2024 season, the Crimson Tide will certainly have a case to be the top ranked team in the country. Oats and Alabama have made a huge emphasis on playing a tough out of conference schedule to help prepare them for the post season, and so far it has paid massive dividends.

For this upcoming 2024-25 season, the Crimson Tide have added a game against the Kent State Golden Flashes. The flashes are coming off of a 17-17 season in 2023-24, but look to be a much stronger team this upcoming season.

Alabama basketball jerseys rank No. 1 in the country in 2024

Alabama’s brand new white basketball uniforms ranked No. 1 in the country by Uniswag

Listen, I get that correlation does not mean causation, however, I am certain that there is a direct correlation between Alabama Crimson Tide basketball unveiling a new uniform and going on the program’s first-ever Final Four run. The Tide faithful have been singing the praises of the uniform’s beauty since it was unveiled during the middle of the season, but their feelings were officially validated as Uniswag voted it as the Uniform of the Year in College Basketball.

The uniforms are just a small symbol of the upgrades that are coming to Tide Hoops as a result of head coach Nate Oats’s unprecedented success.

Oats and the Crimson Tide agreed to a new deal shortly ahead of March Madness keeping him in Tuscaloosa for the foreseeable future with one of the biggest buyouts in the sport.

I would imagine that on top of an increase in pay and further job security, Oats was given assurances regarding the resources that would be given to him in the coming years. As one of the top five coaches in college basketball, the Tide did all the right things by locking him up sooner rather than later. Especially with things like the Kentucky job opening up less than a month later.

Former Alabama assistant basketball coach signs extension with Arkansas State

Bryan Hodgson, former Alabama assistant, agrees to contract extensions with Arkansas State

Alabama and [autotag]Nate Oats’s[/autotag] success in 2023-24 can not be understated after replacing ten players and all three assistant coaches from last year’s team. Among the departures was assistant coach [autotag]Bryan Hodgson[/autotag] who left Tuscaloosa to take over as the head coach for the Arkansas State Red Wolves.

It was no easy fix of a job for Hodgson as he inherited a 13-20 program that finished 4-14 in conference play. However, his first year yielded great results as the Red Wolves finished the season with an 18-16 record and finished fourth in the conference with an 11-7 record.

After a successful first season on the job, Hodgson and Arkansas State have agreed on an extension through the 2029 season. The raise will see his yearly salary increase to $450,000 with an increase in his buyout.
