The Alabama coaching staff has reached out to Lamar transfer Nate Calmese, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

Calmese is a 6-foot-2 guard out of Gilbert, Arizona. He spent one season at Lamar before entering his name into the transfer portal earlier this month.

In his stort time with the Cardinals, Calmese averaged 17.6 points per game, shooting 48.1% from the field. He was the staple of Lamar’s backcourt in a down year. The Cardinals finished the season with a 9-22 record.

The program’s lack of success has not impacted his interest from other programs. Several other schools that have reportedly reached out are Arkansas, Arizona, UCSB, and Cincinnati.

It is not clear as to how interested Alabama is in Calmese. However, it is still something to monitor with Jahvon Quinerly possibly entering the 2023 NBA draft.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama basketball program and its reported interest in the transfer portal.
