Predators at Stars projected goalies

Juuse Saros (30-21-7, 2.72 GAA, .918 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Scott Wedgewood (7-8-3, 2.92 GAA, .913 SV%, 1 SO)

Saros stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced in Saturday’s 6-1 win against the St. Louis Blues. He has allowed just 5 goals on 103 shots in the past 3 games, bouncing back nicely from a 7-goal beating at the hands of the Seattle Kraken on March 23.

Wedgewood turned aside 33 of the 36 shots he faced in his last start on Feb. 18 against the Columbus Blue Jackets, suffering a 4-1 loss. He has picked up just 1 win in his last 5 starts for Dallas, a 34-save shutout at the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 19.

Predators at Stars picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 4, Predators 1

Moneyline

The Stars (-200) will cost you 2 times your potential return, and that’s just too expensive for a singular bet — particularly with Wedgewood between the pipes.

PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

The STARS -1.5 (+125) are a better play on the puck line at plus money.

Dallas has covered 2 of the 3 meetings with Nashville so far this season, winning by an average margin of 2.7 goals per game in 3 regular-season outings.

Over/Under

UNDER 6 (-115) is the lean, as the Under is 2-0-1 in the first 3 meetings this season.

The Under is also 4-1 in the past 5 games inside the Central Division for the Predators and 5-2 in their last 7 against winning teams.

The Under is 33-14-4 in the past 51 games for the Stars against teams with a winning overall record, too, while going 4-0-1 in the past 5 meetings in this series.

Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nashville Predators (6-5-1) travel to meet the Dallas Stars (4-5-2) Wednesday at American Airlines Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Predators vs. Stars odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Predators are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss against the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center Sunday. That sums up their play lately, as four of their last five outings have been one-goal games and three of them weren’t decided in regulation.

The Stars have also needed overtime or a shootout in three of their last five games, so look for a rather close game. Dallas has won just once in its last six games and has yet to win in regulation this season.

Predators at Stars projected goalies

Juuse Saros (5-4-1, 2.31 GAA, .925 SV%) vs. Braden Holtby (2-3-1, 2.46 GAA, .924 SV%)

Saros has allowed 2 or fewer goals in each of his past five starts and most recently yielded 2 goals on 32 shots in a 2-1 loss at Chicago Sunday. He hasn’t lost in regulation since Oct. 23 on the road against the Winnipeg Jets.

Holtby has coughed up 3 or more goals in each of his past three starts, going 0-2-1. He hasn’t won in regulation in his seven appearances, and he hasn’t won at all since Oct. 22 against the Los Angeles Kings.

Predators at Stars odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Predators 3, Stars 2

Money line

The PREDATORS (+122) are a strong play on the road. Nashville has just been playing much better than the Stars this season and it has the better of the backstops, as Saros hasn’t been yielding much of anything in between the pipes. Holtby has been touched up for 10 goals across his last three and you just can’t trust him here.

Against the spread

The Predators +1.5 (-230) will cost you more than two times your potential return if you’d like a little insurance. While it isn’t a terrible play, since Nashville has been involved in plenty of close games lately if you like the boys from Smashville you should just play them straight up.

PASS.

Over/Under

The UNDER 5.5 (-135) is the lean. The Under has connected in five of the last six for the Predators. The Over has hit in three straight for the Stars, but the Under is 8-3 across their last 11 games overall.

Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Nashville Predators (6-9-0) visit the Dallas Stars (5-3-4) for an early-week back-to-back set beginning Monday with an 8:30 p.m. ET puck drop at American Airlines Center. Game 2 of the set will be played Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Predators-Stars NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Preds come in with losses in four of their last five games, including a split set against the Detroit Red Wings. The Preds fell by a 4-2 count Saturday.

Dallas dropped four straight coming into this week but the Stars got a point in three of those losses. They’ll hope to get back on track against a Predators team they beat by counts of 7-0 and 3-2 in mid-January.

  • Money line: Predators +150 (bet $100 to win $150) | Stars -175 (bet $175 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Predators +1.5 (-190) | Stars -1.5 (+155)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Predators at Stars: Projected starting goalies

Juuse Saros (3-4-0, .880 SV%, 3.66 GAA) vs. Anton Khudobin (3-3-1, .902 SV%, 2.75 GAA)

Saros started the season with back-to-back wins over the Columbus Blue Jackets but has spiraled downhill after that and four of his last five decisions were losses. He relieved starter Pekka Rinne Saturday against the Wings and allowed one goal on 6 shots.

Khudobin has taken four straight losses after a 3-0-0 start to the season. He stopped 27 of 31 shots in a loss to the Carolina Hurricanes Thursday. His .912 save percentage at even strength is a four-year low.

Predators at Stars: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Predators 4, Stars 3

Money line (ML)

The PREDATORS (+150) are the team to pick in a battle of struggling Central Division opponents. They quickly righted the ship after a 7-0 loss to Dallas in January and fell by just a 3-2 count in the second encounter. Monday’s odds seem to still be weighing the results of the first meeting a little too heavily.

The Stars and Preds rank seventh and 10th, respectively, in Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5. Dallas has a greater edge in full-strength scoring chances at 54.84% to Nashville’s 50.55%.

Goaltending will be the key Monday with both teams missing a key piece on offense (RW Alexander Radulov for Dallas and C Ryan Johansen for Nashville).

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS on the puck line as there’s too much volatility with both teams to pay the -190 for just one goal of insurance with the Preds.

The Stars -1.5 (+155) would be more appealing here than on the money line, but we’re getting near-equal odds for the Nashville upset.

Over/Under (O/U)

Defense and goaltending have been the biggest problems during the Stars’ slump while the Preds have struggled to score goals. They scored just one goal in three of their last five games.

Expect the Nashville offense to come alive and lead the way to the OVER 5.5 (+100).

Previewing Sunday’s Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Dallas Stars (1-0-0) will be looking to duplicate their effort from Friday’s 7-0 win over the Nashville Predators (2-2-0) when the two meet for the second time in three days at American Airlines Center. Sunday’s puck drop will be at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Predators-Stars NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

  • Money line: Predators -105 (bet $105 to win $100) | Stars -110 (bet $110 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Predators +1.5 (-300) | Stars -1.5 (+240)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Predators at Stars: Projected starting goalies

Juuse Saros (2-1-0, .915 SV%, 3.00 GAA) vs. Anton Khudobin (1-0-0, 1.000 SV%, 0.00 GAA)

Saros allowed 5 goals on just 20 shots before being pulled at the end of the second period in Friday’s loss. The 25-year-old had allowed a total of 3 goals on 74 shots in his first two games of the season. He shut out the Stars in each of his two meetings with them last season.

Khudobin is back in net after turning in a 34-save shutout in his season debut Friday. He went 1-1-0 with a total of 3 goals allowed on 70 shots in two games against Nashville last season.

Predators at Stars: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Predators 3, Stars 1

Money line (ML)

The PREDATORS (-105) remain underdogs for the second of two meetings with the Stars but at a reduced money line price from Friday. The oddsmakers are expecting a bounce-back effort and so do I.

Saros dominated the eventual Western Conference champion Stars last season with two shutouts in two outings. He had started the season very well and should return to form after Friday’s embarrassment.

Stars LW Jamie Benn (lower body) is also at risk of missing Sunday’s contest after leaving Friday’s game. He could join C Tyler Seguin (hip) and RW Joel Kiviranta (undisclosed) on the sidelines and leave Dallas rather shorthanded.

Against the spread (ATS)

Nashville dominated in Corsi For percentage and scoring chances from start to finish Friday, winning those battles in all three periods. Chalk up the 7-0 loss to a bad night at the office and take PREDATORS -1.5 (+240) on the alternate puck line.

Saros will be much sharper and the forwards also have a point to prove after being blanked Friday.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 5.5 (-115). These goalies were the stars of last season’s head-to-head contests and both have already shown top form in 2021.

Benn’s potential absence would further limit the Stars’ offensive output, even though he was held off the scoresheet in limited action Friday.

Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Dallas Stars open their 2021 season against the Nashville Predators (2-1-0) Friday with an 8:30 p.m. ET puck drop at American Airlines Center. Dallas’ start to the season was delayed by COVID-19 issues throughout the roster and it had five games postponed. Below, we analyze the Predators-Stars NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

  • Money line: Predators -125 (bet $125 to win $100) | Stars +105 (bet $100 to win $105)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Predators -1.5 (+220) | Stars +1.5 (-275)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Predators at Stars: Projected starting goalies

Juuse Saros (2-0-0, .959 SV%, 1.50 GAA) vs. Anton Khudobin (2019-20 stats: 16-8-4, .930 SV%, 2.22 GAA)

Saros has been brilliant in two starts on home ice, allowing just 3 goals on 74 total shots against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He went 10-6-3 with a .911 save percentage and 2.92 goals against average in 22 appearances on the road last season.

Khudobin will begin the season as the No. 1 netminder for Dallas with G Ben Bishop still sidelined by a knee injury. Khudobin had the best SV% in the NHL last season. He went 14-10 with a .917 SV% in the playoffs while getting Dallas to the Stanley Cup Final last summer.

Predators at Stars: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Predators 5, Stars 2

Money line (ML)

The PREDATORS (-125) are getting a conservative price against the reigning Western Conference champions. The Stars are still without Bishop and C Tyler Seguin (hip) and haven’t had a lot of practice time as a team while sitting idly by over the last two weeks.

This is an unprecedented situation and the Preds having three games under their belts should play to a significant advantage. Nashville also had a game postponed Tuesday and will be looking to avenge a 4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes Monday.

Against the spread (ATS)

Take the PREDATORS -1.5 (+220) as a strong value play to win by 2 or more goals. We’ve seen goalies throughout the league struggle in the early going with sloppy defensive play.

That hasn’t been the case for Saros and the Preds, but it should be the expectation for Khudobin and the Stars due to their lack of proper practice time.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 5.5 (+100) with the expectation of the Predators being able to provide the bulk of the offense. They’ve already potted 5 goals in a game once this season and will look to take advantage of Dallas’ irregular start.
