Colorado Avalanche at Nashville Predators Game 4 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Colorado Avalanche at Nashville Predators Game 4 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado Avalanche and Nashville Predators meet for Game 4 of their 1st-round Western Conference playoff series Monday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The Avalanche lead the series 3-0. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we look at the Avalanche vs. Predators odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Avalanche look for the series sweep in Game 4, but they might have to do it without their starting goalie. G Darcy Kuemper left Game 3 after taking an inadvertent stick to the eye. Head coach Jared Bednar said it’s possible the goalie is available if the swelling goes down, but it’s likely G Pavel Francouz draws the start.

Predators goalie Connor Ingram was sharp in Game 2 when he took over starting duties for G David Rittich. However, he struggled in Game 3 as he was tagged for 6 goals on 41 shots. Starting G Juuse Saros remains sidelined with a lower-body injury, so Ingram likely gets another chance in Game 4.

Avalanche at Predators odds and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 8 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Avalanche -250 (bet $250 to win $100) | Predators +200 (bet $100 to win $200)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Avalanche -1.5 (+100) | Predators +1.5 (-125)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -130 | U: +105)

Avalanche at Predators projected goalies

Pavel Francouz (15-5-1, 2.55 GAA, .916 SV%, 2 SO – regular season) vs. Connor Ingram (1-2-0, 3.71 GAA, .879 SV%, 0 SO – regular season)

Francouz did a good job in relief of the injured Kuemper in Game 3. He allowed 2 goals on 20 shots in 40-plus minutes, helping his team to the victory.

Ingram was pounded for 6 goals on 41 shots, a much different performance than his Game 2 showing which saw he and the Preds lose 2-1 in overtime in Denver.

Avalanche at Predators picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 3, Predators 2

Money line

The final win in a playoff series is often the most difficult one, and the Avalanche are going to get everything the Predators have. You cannot risk two and a half times your potential return on the favorite, especially in a game which is expected to be a close dogfight.

AVOID.

Against the spread

The PREDATORS +1.5 (-125) have been pushed to the brink, and have their backs to the wall. They’re either going to get blown out, and accept the sweep, or they’re going to throw everything and the kitchen sink at the Avalanche. I expect the prideful Preds to play as well as Game 2, and make the Avs work hard.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (+105) is a great bet, especially at plus-money. We’re going to get a much lower scoring game. An elimination game will have the Avalanche playing it safe, and the Predators playing good defense and not taking a lot of chances. Look for a defensive slog similar to Game 2.

Colorado Avalanche at Nashville Predators Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Colorado Avalanche at Nashville Predators Game 3 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado Avalanche (2-0) and Nashville Predators (0-2) meet for Game 3 of their 1st-round Western Conference playoff series Saturday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The Avalanche lead the series 2-0. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we look at the Avalanche vs. Predators odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Avalanche won both of the games in Denver by different methods. Colorado fired out to a 5-0 first-period lead in Game 1, chasing David Rittich and routing the Preds.

In Game 2, the Avalanche outlasted Connor Ingram, who stood on his head and kept Nashville in the game, eventually falling to the Avs 2-1 in overtime. Ingram is slated to start again after the heroic effort.

Avalanche at Predators odds and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:40 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Avalanche -230 (bet $230 to win $100) | Predators +180 (bet $100 to win $180)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Avalanche -1.5 (+105) | Predators +1.5 (-130)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -115 | U: -107)

Avalanche at Predators projected goalies

Darcy Kuemper (37-12-4, 2.54 GAA, .921 SV%, 5 SO – regular season) vs. Connor Ingram (1-2-0, 3.71 GAA, .879 SV%, 0 SO – regular season)

Kuemper has been Vezina-quality for most of the season, and he had a 2.58 GAA and .923 SV% with four of his shutouts on the road this season, going 16-8-2. He has a 1.40 GAA and a .941 SV% in the series.

Ingram made just three appearances in the regular season, but he was called upon early in Game 1, allowing just two goals in relief. He was spectacular in Game 2, giving his team a chance to win. With Juuse Saros again ruled out due to a lower-body injury, it’s Ingram time.

[tipico]

Avalanche at Predators picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Predators 2

Money line

The Avalanche (-230) are a little too expensive on the road in Game 3, as they barely got it done in Game 2.

The Predators (+180) are tempting as heavy underdogs on home ice. A change of venue in the Carolina-Boston series made a huge difference, and we could potentially see the same effect here in front of a raucous crowd. However, I think Colorado gets it done.

AVOID.

Against the spread

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+105) are a better play on the puck line at almost even-money. The Colorado offense had a full game to see Ingram, and there’s a reason he was the team’s third-string goaltender. They’ll get to him, and a quick start wouldn’t be shocking. We saw road teams dominate in Friday’s games, and Saturday could be more of the same.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (-107) is worth playing, but go lightly. We saw a total of just three goals in Game 2 after a high-scoring series opener. You can expect a few more goals here, as the Avalanche aren’t going to be limited to just one goal in regulation again, perhaps for the remainder of the postseason.

Nashville Predators at Colorado Avalanche Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Nashville Predators at Colorado Avalanche Game 2 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche meet for Game 2 of their 1st-round Western Conference playoff series Thursday at Ball Arena in Denver. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we look at the Predators vs. Avalanche odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Predators were forced to start G David Rittich in Game 1, as G Juuse Saros (lower-body injury) was ruled out for at least the first 2 games. It was a disaster. He allowed a goal just 2:20 into the game on the power play and after he gave up 5 goals in the first 15:04, he was pulled in favor of G Connor Ingram.

The Avs had no such issues in the crease, and the offense piled up 7 goals in the home victory. Three of the team’s goals came via special teams, with 2 on the power play and 1 of the shorthanded variety.

Predators at Avalanche odds and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:55 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Predators +290 (bet $100 to win $290) | Avalanche -380 (bet $380 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Predators +1.5 (+115) | Avalanche -1.5 (-145)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -140 | U: +112)

Predators at Avalanche projected goalies

Connor Ingram (1-2-0, 3.71 GAA, .879 SV%, 0 SO – regular season) vs. Darcy Kuemper (37-12-4, 2.54 GAA, .921 SV%, 5 SO – regular season)

Ingram came on and turned aside 30 of the 32 shots he faced in relief of Rittich. This will be Ingram’s first NHL postseason start, but he can’t do much worse than Rittich did in the series opener. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Kuemper was rarely tested and stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced. By the time he faced any difficult shots, he was already staked to a big lead. His win in Game 1 was actually his first in 3 meetings with Nashville this season after going 0-0-2 with a 4.23 GAA and .870 SV% across 2 regular-season starts.

[tipico]

Predators at Avalanche picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 6, Predators 2

Money line

The Avalanche (-380) are the heaviest favorites of the postseason so far, and will cost you nearly four times your potential return. You can’t do that, though.

AVOID, and look to the puck line instead.

Against the spread

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (-145) are still a little on the expensive side, but the much better play. The Predators have too much uncertainty in between the pipes, as Ingram or Rittich are just too shaky right now, and they do not have the offensive weapons to keep up with the very deep Avs.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-140) is the play here. Colorado took care of the Over themselves in Game 1, and nearly did it in the first period.

The Over has cashed in 6 outings in a row for Nashville, while going 7-1 in its last 8 contests as a road underdog. The Over is 14-5 in the past 19 as a playoff favorite for Colorado, too, while going 4-1 in its last five as a home fave.

Nashville Predators at Colorado Avalanche Game 1 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Nashville Predators at Colorado Avalanche Game 1 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche meet for Game 1 of their 1st-round Western Conference playoff series Tuesday at Ball Arena in Denver. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we look at the Predators vs. Avalanche odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Predators really stumbled down the stretch, winning just once in their final 5 games. That lone victory was a 5-4 shootout win in Colorado Thursday. The Over has cashed in 5 straight games entering play.

The Avalanche clinched the Central Division in April and coasted to the finish line. Colorado won just once across its final 7 games overall. The Avs were a solid 7-1-1 in their final 9 home games.

Predators at Avalanche odds and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:18 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Predators +265 (bet $100 to win $265) | Avalanche -350 (bet $350 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Predators +1.5 (+105) | Avalanche -1.5 (-130)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -135 | U: +110)

Predators at Avalanche projected goalies

David Rittich (6-3-4, 3.57 GAA, .886 SV%, 0 SO – regular season) vs. Darcy Kuemper (37-12-4, 2.54 GAA, .921 SV%, 5 SO – regular season)

Rittich will serve as the starting goalie, at least for the first 2 games, as G Juuse Saros is nursing a leg injury suffered in late April. He has been ruled out until at least Game 3. G Connor Ingram will serve as the backup.

Kuemper was bested by Rittich last Thursday in the 5-4 shootout loss, but the veteran was still 21-4-2 with a 2.51 GAA and .920 SV% in 31 starts at Ball Arena during the regular season. He was 0-0-2 with a 4.23 GAA and .870 SV% in two appearances vs. Nashville this season.

[tipico]

Predators at Avalanche picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 5, Predators 2

Money line

It’s too expensive to play Avalanche (-350), risking three and a half times your potential return.

AVOID, and look to the puck line instead.

Against the spread

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (-130) are much more reasonably priced on the puck line.

There is some risk here as the Predators did win each of the last 3 meetings between the two sides, including last time out in Denver. However, the Avalanche are a fantastic team at home, and they’re not going to let a heavy underdog with a backup goaltender come in and spoil Game 1. Look for the Avs to start fast, and finish faster.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-135) is the slight lean here.

With much lower stakes, these teams combined for 9 total goals Thursday. We should see a little more defense here, especially from the home side, although I have little confidence Rittich will offer much in the way of resistance.

Nashville Predators at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks, and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Nashville Predators at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nashville Predators (44-29-7) travel to meet the Colorado Avalanche (56-18-6) at Ball Arena Thursday. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Predators vs. Avalanche odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Predators are locked into one of the eight playoff spots in the Western Conference, but they can still change their seeding. A win here would go a long way toward potentially avoiding the top-seeded Avs in the first round.

The Avalanche have locked up that top seed in the Western Conference, so it remains to be seen how high their motivation will be. The Avs certainly don’t want to go into the playoffs on a low note, but also might not want to show the Preds everything in the event these teams meet for higher stakes next week.

Predators at Avalanche odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:45 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Predators +200 (bet $100 to win $200) | Avalanche -250 (bet $250 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Predators +1.5 (-125) | Avalanche -1.5 (+100)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -105 | U: -120)

Predators at Avalanche projected goalies

David Rittich (5-3-4, 3.56 GAA, .883 SV%) vs. Darcy Kuemper (37-12-3, 2.52 GAA, .922 SV%, 5 SO)

Starting netminder Juuse Saros will miss the final two regular-season games due to a left leg injury, so the veteran Rittich will take the team across the finish line. He is 0-0-3 with a 4.57 GAA and .865 SV% in two starts and five appearances in April.

Kuemper snapped a three-game losing skid with a win over the St. Louis Blues Tuesday, turning aside 29 of the 32 shots he faced. He is 6-3-0 with a 3.23 GAA and .912 SV% across nine starts in April.

[tipico]

Predators at Avalanche odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 5, Predators 2

Money line

The Avalanche (-250) will cost you two and a half times your potential return, and that’s risky business, even against the very giving Rittich. It remains to be seen how motivated Colorado will be in what is essentially a meaningless game.

AVOID.

Against the spread

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+100) are a better play at even-money on the puck line but go lightly. Colorado has the top spot in the West locked up, and they may simply be playing it safe and trying to get to the postseason on a healthy note.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-105) is the lean here.

The Over has cashed in five of the past six games overall for the Predators while going 23-7 in the past 30 on the road and 4-1 in the past five against winning teams.

The Under has dominated for the Avs lately, although the Over is 4-1 in the past five against winning teams and 4-1 in the past five in this series.

Nashville Predators at Carolina Hurricanes odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Nashville Predators at Carolina Hurricanes odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nashville Predators (28-17-4) travel to meet the Carolina Hurricanes (32-11-4) Friday at PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Predators vs. Hurricanes odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Predators limp in on a three-game losing skid, including a 4-1 home beatdown at the hands of the Washington Capitals last time out Tuesday. Nashville has lost four of its last five versus Eastern Conference clubs (1-2-2).

The Hurricanes were dropped 3-2 in overtime by the Florida Panthers Wednesday in a very entertaining game. Carolina blew a 2-1 lead late with an extra attacker on for Florida and then allowed a quick goal in OT. Carolina has won five of its last six against Western Conference teams.

Predators at Hurricanes odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:52 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Predators +140 (bet $100 to win $140) | Hurricanes -175 (bet $175 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Predators +1.5 (-190) | Hurricanes -1.5 (+145)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -135 | U: +110)

Predators at Hurricanes projected goalies

Juuse Saros (24-14-3, 2.45 GAA, .924 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Frederik Andersen (25-7-2, 2.07 GAA, .928 SV%, 2 SO)

Saros has been on the short end of three starts since the All-Star break, allowing 11 total goals on 96 shots. He has yielded at least 3 goals in each of the outings. The Finnish netminder allowed 2 goals on 31 shots in a 3-2 loss in Nashville against Carolina Oct. 16.

Andersen has failed to record a win in each of the past two outings, just the second time this season he has lost two or more consecutive starts. In the previous occurrence, he had a three-game losing skid from Nov. 24-30. The Great Dane was the goalie of record in Nashville Oct. 16, posting 38 saves on 40 shots in a win.

Predators at Hurricanes odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Hurricanes 3, Predators 1

Money line

The Hurricanes (-175) are just a little too pricey, even on home ice, as they’re just 1-2-2 across their last five outings.

AVOID, and look to the puck line instead.

Against the spread

The HURRICANES -1.5 (+145) are a better value on the puck line as they try to rebound from a disappointing 3-2 OT loss against Florida Wednesday.

Carolina hasn’t been ticking off wins on the regular of late, but neither has Nashville. The Preds have dropped four in a row against winning teams, and are just 3-13 in the previous 16 skates in Raleigh. The home team is 11-2 in the past 13 meetings, too.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (+110) is the lean here, even though Saros and the Predators have been getting knocked around pretty good of late. The Hurricanes have had some issues putting the puck in the back of the net lately, going for 3 or fewer goals in seven of their last eight outings.

The Under is also 6-1-1 in the previous eight meetings in North Carolina.

Columbus Blue Jackets at Nashville Predators odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Columbus Blue Jackets at Nashville Predators NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Columbus Blue Jackets and Nashville Predators open the 2020-21 NHL regular season against each other Thursday for an 8 p.m. ET puck drop at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Below, we analyze the Blue Jackets-Predators NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Blue Jackets at Predators: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Blue Jackets +105 (bet $100 to win $105) | Predators -125 (bet $125 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Blue Jackets +1.5 (-275) | Predators -1.5 (+220)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Blue Jackets at Predators: Projected starting goalies

Elvis Merzlikins (13-9-8, 2.35 GAA, .923 SV%) at Juuse Saros (17-12-4, 2.70 GAA, .914 SV%)

Merzlikins is expected to get the first nod, although both goalies are 1A and 1B, and will do plenty of heavy lifting with the compressed schedule. Merzlikins faced the Preds once last season, allowing three goals on 36 shots in a 4-3 shootout loss in the Music City on Feb. 22.

Saros was on the winning side of that 4-3 shootout against the Jackets on Feb. 22, turning aside 40 of the 43 shots he faced for the much-deserved win. The Finnish backstop was 7-6-1 at Bridgestone last season in 14 starts and 18 appearances, but he had a strong 2.41 GAA with a .919 SV% versus a 2.92 GAA and .911 SV% in 20 starts and 22 appearances on the road.

Blue Jackets at Predators: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Blue Jackets 4, Predators 3

Money line (ML)

The BLUE JACKETS (+105) are worth playing as short ‘dogs on the road. I just don’t like how the Predators (-125) looked down the stretch last season, as they appeared to be super old right before our eyes. Columbus has a ton of young, up-and-coming players, and the exciting Merzlikins makes some unbelievable saves. He will be the difference in this one.

Against the spread (ATS)

Avoid the Blue Jackets +1.5 (-275), as they will cost you nearly three times your potential return. If you bet them straight up, there is no sense playing them plus the goal and a half. AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-105) is the best play on the board, as these teams always seem to put on an offensive show. The Over has connected in four straight meetings in this series, and five straight battles in the Music City. Look for plenty of offense again.
