3 candidates for Kaulig Racing in NASCAR Xfinity Series for 2024

Kaulig Racing might need to replace its entire NASCAR Xfinity Series driver lineup so here are three good candidates for the seats in 2024!

[autotag]Kaulig Racing[/autotag] likely needs to overhaul its NASCAR Xfinity Series lineup due to Daniel Hemric’s promotion and Chandler Smith’s expected departure to Joe Gibbs Racing in 2024. As of now, A.J. Allmendinger is likely to join the Xfinity Series program but what about the other rides? Here are three realistic candidates for a possible seat.

[autotag]Derek Kraus[/autotag] should be the top option as Kaulig Racing loves what he brings to the program. Kraus has competed in seven races with the organization for three top-10 finishes and a 13.7 average finishing position. The 22-year-old driver has shown promise in his select starts and would be in a good position with Allmendinger possibly mentoring him throughout his first full-time season.

[autotag]Layne Riggs[/autotag] would also be a good choice for Kaulig Racing in 2024. Riggs has competed in two races with the organization during the 2023 Xfinity Series playoffs and has a best finish of 10th place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The 21-year-old has impressed in his NASCAR starts since the beginning of the 2022 season and would be worthy of an opportunity.

Finally, [autotag]Jeffrey Earnhardt[/autotag] would be a quality option and likely represent the best full-time equipment in his career. Earnhardt previously earned a second-place finish at Talladega Superspeedway in 2022 with Richard Childress Racing so he can compete if given the car. The 34-year-old driver could also bring sponsorship, which would help out the program.

Any driver out of the trio of Kraus, Riggs, and Earnhardt would be a good option for Kaulig Racing in 2024. Kraus likely serves as the most reasonable option as he has the most recent experience with the organization; however, Riggs and Earnhardt would be good too. Overall, Kaulig Racing should have options available and it will make for an interesting outcome.

Why Ty Gibbs and Sam Mayer got into a legitimate fist fight after their NASCAR Xfinity Series race, explained

This was bad. Really bad.

Tempers can flare at NASCAR events just like they do in any sport. These drivers are competitors competing at the highest level. Anytime competition is involved, tempers are going to flare.

Rarely do they ever flare to the point where punches are thrown. But that’s exactly what happened on Friday after the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the Martinsville Speedway.

Ty Gibbs and Sam Mayer got into a legitimate fist fight. Like, a real one. Not just shoving and a bunch of loud talking — punches were actually thrown. Specifically from Gibbs.

The two were talking about what just happened in the race. Then there was some shoving. Gibbs was about to take his helmet off and then got shoved by Mayer again. And then, boom. Punches.

It was bad. Really bad. Just not a great look for the sport at all.

Neither one of them one the race. It was Brandon Jones who came through with the win in the end. But that’s also part of the problem.

Let’s go through it.

Grandson of Hall of Famer Joe Gibbs wins in first career NASCAR Xfinity start at 18

The 18-year-old grandson of NASCAR and Pro Football Hall of Famer Joe Gibbs won in his first Xfinity start Saturday at Daytona.

Joe Gibbs is a legend in football and NASCAR. The former Washington Football Team coach is a three-time Super Bowl champion and five-time NASCAR Cup Series champion. He is a Hall of Famer in both sports.

Joe Gibbs watched what arguably was the most emotional victory of his career Saturday at Daytona International Speedway. His grandson, Ty, won the Xfinity race. The victory came in the first start for Ty Gibbs, who is all 18 years old.

“I just am thrilled, I don’t what to say, really,” Joe Gibbs said after the victory. “When it is your grandson it is definitely different.

“It is like a dream come true for our family.”

The victory came in a race that twice went to a green-white-checkered overtime.

Gibbs came in and got four tires before overtime. He started in the sixth row and did everything to get to the front, going through the grass and dirt before finally moving to the lead and driving to victory.

USAT

On Jan. 26, 2021, JGR announced that Gibbs would make his Xfinity Series debut at the Daytona Road Course, which would be the first race of a part-time schedule he would run in the team’s No. 54 car, and he won.

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

“This is awesome. A dream come true to me,” Ty Gibbs said through tears. “I didn’t think I had it there but we fought back and won.”

“Family is everything for me. They do so much for me. This is awesome. I can’t thank everybody enough.”
