Alabama MBB lands commitment from 2024 4-star SF Naas Cunningham

On Tuesday, the Alabama men’s basketball program landed a commitment from 2024 four-star small forward Naas Cunningham.

Alabama landed a commitment from 2024 small forward Naas Cunningham on Tuesday afternoon. Cunningham chose the Crimson Tide over other programs like Duke, Kansas, Memphis, Rutgers, and UCLA.

The New Jersey native currently plays for SoCal Academy in Castaic, California. Previously, he played for Gill St. Bernard’s High School and Overtime Elite.

Cunningham took an official visit to Tuscaloosa over the weekend. It was Cunningham’s first trip to Tuscaloosa. The only other school that Cunningham took an official visit to was West Virginia.

At 6-foot-7, 180 pounds, Cunningham will likely play multiple positions in Alabama’s system. Alabama head coach Nate Oats and the rest of the coaching staff strive to recruit “positionless” basketball players. That certainly fits the profile for Cunningham.

Cunningham is the second ’24 prospect to commit to the Crimson Tide. The other is five-star big man Aiden Sherrell.

Alabama MBB to host 2024 SF Naas Cunningham for official visit this weekend

According to 247Sports’ Travis Branham, 2024 small forward Naas Cunningham will be on an official visit to Alabama this weekend. Cunningham is regarded as a four-star by every recruiting service.

Alabama will be hosting one of the more promising small forwards in the 2024 recruiting class for an official visit this weekend. SoCal Academy standout Naas Cunningham will be making the trek from Castaic to Tuscaloosa for an official visit.

Cunningham has not received an offer from the Crimson Tide to this point. This weekend will mark the first time that Cunningham has been on Alabama’s campus.

The New Jersey native was formerly a member of the Overtime Elite, a professional basketball league based in Atlanta, Georgia. He transferred there from Gill St. Bernard’s High School. Now, he will spend his senior season at SoCal Academy.

At 6-foot-7 and 180 pounds, he will have the opportunity to play multiple positions at the college level. Alabama is known to play people with similar size and stature at multiple different positions. It will be interesting to see if the coaching staff extends an offer to Cunningham.

Rutgers basketball recruiting: Four-star recruit Naas Cunningham to transfer to California prep program for senior season

Naas Cunningham will play his senior season of high school basketball in California.

Naas Cunningham is transferring for his final season of high school basketball. Cunningham is one of the top recruits in the nation and has Rutgers basketball in his top five.

This week, the four-star recruit will be at Southern California Academy for his final season of high school basketball.

Cunningham, a class of 2024 recruit, started his high school career at Gill St. Bernard’s. He most recently played at Overtime Elite, where he was a part of their set-up for one season.

He is a consensus four-star recruit and is a top 30 player in the nation. The 6-foot-7 forward has Rutgers basketball in the mix alongside Duke, Kansas, Memphis and UCLA in his top five programs.

The move to the West Coast may not be good news for Rutgers, as it puts him geographically closer to UCLA.

As for Rutgers and their 2024 commits, they have the second-best recruiting class in the nation, which features five-star forward Airious ‘Ace’ Bailey. The program also has a pair of four-star verbals from center Lathan Sommerville and Bryce Dortch.

Both Sommerville and Dortch are top 150 recruits nationally.

Rutgers is also in the mix for five-star Dylan Harper, recently named the top player in the country by On3. Harper told Rutgers Wire last week that he is intrigued by the idea of playing at Rutgers and being a “hometown hero.”
