Browns make handful of practice squad moves after Deshaun Watson officially activated

The Browns continue to tinker with their practice squad, making three moves and potentially preparing for a fourth on their reserve unit.

The big news from a day ago surrounding the Cleveland Browns was the official reinstating and activation of quarterback Deshaun Watson. After serving his 11-game suspension, Watson is set to start against his former team as the Browns take on the Houston Texans this Sunday.

However, the Browns also made three practice squad moves. These reserve moves are extremely non-consequential, so too much time does not need to be spent on them. However, by placing one player on Injured Reserve, releasing one player from the practice squad, and signing a third player, the Browns were busy churning the bottom of their roster.

We take a look at those moves here.

Browns host 10 players for workouts on Friday including Kenny Stills

The Browns hosted 10 free agents for tryouts today, including veteran wide receiver Kenny Stills

We found out earlier this morning the Cleveland Browns were hosting former Buffalo Bills’ defensive tackle Prince Emili. However, it turns out the Browns actually hosted 10 players today, and one of them was veteran wide receiver Kenny Stills.

All-in-all, the Browns hosted a quarterback, an offensive tackle, three defensive tackles, two running backs, and three wide receivers. The three defensive tackles are the clear emphasis here, especially after the Cleveland defensive interior was torn to shreds against the Atlanta Falcons.

We take a look here at each of the ten players and give a bit of background on each of them.

Former Arkansas defensive end Tre Williams to play in Collegiate Bowl

Tre Williams becomes fourth Arkansas player to accept invitation to the Collegiate Bowl.

Former Arkansas defensive end Tre Williams became the fourth Razorbacks player of 2021 to accept an invitation to the Collegiate Bowl this week.

Williams played one season with the Hogs, leading the team with six sacks and registering 28 tackles after transferring from Missouri. He was arrested for DWI early Sunday morning and announced his opting out of the Outback Bowl for the NFL draft later that day.

Williams joins linebackers Grant Morgan and Bumper Pool and offensive tackle Myron Cunningham as invitees. Pool could still return to Arkansas for one more season while the others have exhausted their eligibility. All three plan to play in the Outback Bowl against Penn State on January 1.

Defensive tackle John Ridgeway, in November, accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl and cornerback Montaric Brown accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Bowl in November, as well. Like Pool, both could still return to Arkansas with a final year of eligibility.

The Collegiate Bowl is January 22, the East-West Shrine Bowl if February 3 and the Senior Bowl is February 5.
