Broncos prepare to face game-wrecker Myles Garrett on ‘MNF’

Broncos coach Sean Payton said Myles Garrett can “take over a game.”

After facing Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby in Week 12, the Denver Broncos are now set to face Cleveland Browns star defensive lineman Myles Garrett in Week 13.

“They’re different [types of] players,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said last Wednesday. “They’re both elite at their position. They’re both Pro Bowl, All-Pro-type caliber players that can take over a game.

“We have a ton of respect for those guys. It forces you to have a really good plan for them. That requires a little bit more work, a little bit more calories during the evening meetings, but it’s necessary.”

Garrett, 28, has totaled 190 quarterback hits and 98.5 sacks through his first eight years (111 games) in the NFL. Denver has done a respectable job limiting his damage in past matchups as Garrett has three QB hits and 1.5 sacks in four career games against the Broncos.

After preventing Crosby from recording any sacks last week, Denver’s offensive line will aim for a similar performance against Garrett.

T.J. Watt prioritizes Super Bowl win over D.P.O.Y award in 2024

T.J. Watt emphasizes team success over individual accolades, staying focused on helping the Steelers win huge games in 2024.

DE Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns appears to be focusing on the wrong trophy in 2024. Garrett made a bold claim following Cleveland’s victory over the Steelers in Week 12, proclaiming that the Defensive Player of the Year award runs through him in 2024. However, former 2021 D.P.O.Y. winner T.J. Watt isn’t taking the bait.

While speaking during the team’s media availability on Friday, Watt was asked if Garrett’s comments had bothered him. Concerned only with adding victories to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ win column, Watt answered as only a true professional would: “Like I said all year long, I’m worried about the Pittsburgh Steelers being the best team at the best time.” He went on to recognize Garrett as a fantastic player but made it clear he isn’t focused on his D.P.O.Y. standings in 2024: “That’s what I’m not focused on this year at all, so it’s all about the Pittsburgh Steelers and winning as many games as we can in the right moments.”

Watt will have the opportunity to help his team improve to 9-3 on the season when the Steelers take on the Bengals in Week 13 on December 1st at 1:00 PM EST.

Myles Garrett adds another award to his ever-growing trophy case

Myles Garrett has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his three-sack performance against the Steelers

Cleveland Browns All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 12.

This honorable award comes after his incredible performance on Thursday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers as he grows his case to repeat as NFL Defensive Player of the Year. In this game, Garrett managed to collect three sacks and a forced fumble on opposing quarterback, Russell Wilson.

He was without a doubt the difference-maker for the Cleveland Browns in this contest. Not only was it one of his best performances of the year, but arguably his most notable against the Browns AFC North rival.

Garrett put up this impressive Stat line after revisiting criticism regarding his Defensive Player of the Year award. after the game on Thursday night, his odds of keeping that award went up drastically. The odds for the Browns to make the playoffs may be slim to none, but there’s still plenty to achieve with the remaining time in the 2024 season.

We’ll see if Garrett can put up similar numbers against the Denver Broncos and yet another primetime showing.

Steelers EDGE T.J. Watt takes high road in feud with Myles Garrett

Pittsburgh Steelers star defender T.J. Watt isn’t stooping to Myles Garrett’s pompous level.

Steelers fans know that T.J. Watt doesn’t just let his stats do the talking—he lets his game roar. But after Thursday’s showdown with the Browns, some are itching for Watt to fire back at Myles Garrett. And honestly, does Watt need to?

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette columnist and 93.7 talk show host Joe Starkey said this morning on the Joe Starkey Show:

In this game, [Garrett] talked the talk and then he backed it up, and he was the best player on the field. I actually like that there’s something brewing, and I wish T.J. would pipe back. I do. I wish he would snap up into the conversation here. If you’re T.J., come back. Or, don’t go on social media when he wins the award and basically say something basically passive-aggressively, ‘I’m used to it.’ You want to talk and snap back and say you’re the guy, then say it. You want to play the role of I don’t talk like that, I don’t do stuff like that, then do that. Be one or the other.

Starkey suggests that Watt should jump into the conversation, snapping back to assert himself as the league’s top defensive force. But here’s the thing: Watt doesn’t need to talk the talk—he’s been walking it for years. With 104 career sacks and countless game-changing plays, Watt’s resume is already in elite company. He’s in the Defensive Player of the Year conversation every season, and his work ethic and consistency speak louder than any trash talk ever could.

That said, a part of Steelers Nation might appreciate a little more fire. Garrett’s game was stellar, no doubt, but it’s always frustrating when the narrative shifts after one standout performance. Watt could easily remind everyone who’s been the real force to reckon with in the AFC North. A well-timed, confident clap-back could energize fans and keep the rivalry alive.

Still, Watt staying classy has its own power. He doesn’t need to play into the noise; he lets his highlights speak for him. Whether it’s strip-sacks, quarterback pressures, or anchoring the Steelers’ defense, Watt’s actions are more impactful than any social media jab could ever be.

Bottom line? Garrett may have won the day, but Watt is the gold standard. Let’s not forget that rivalries are settled on the field—and Watt will undoubtedly get his next chance to remind everyone why he’s the guy.

Best photos from Myles Garrett’s big night against the Pittsburg Steelers

View some of the best photos from Myles Garrett’s dominant performance on Thursday Night Football

Former Texas A&M defensive lineman Myles Garrett joins some of the greats as he dropped Russell Wilson three times on Thursday Night Football in a 24-19 Cleveland Browns win.

The Browns have been on the losing side of many games this season and have virtually zero chance of making the playoffs. In that mist of despair, Myles Garrett has been doing his best on the defensive side of the ball.

On Thursday night, Garrett took over the first half, sacking Wilson three times and holding the Pittsburg Steelers to only three points in the first 30 minutes of play. With under ten seconds left, Garrett got his third sack and 10th in the season.

That sack made him only the 7th player in NFL history with seven straight 10-sack seasons. The list includes Reggie White, John Randle, DeMarcus Ware, Bruce Smith, Lawrence Taylor, and Jared Allen. That’s a who’s who of Hall of Fame defensive ends, and that’s Garrett’s current path. Below are some of the best photos from the Thursday night game.

Myles Garrett makes a statement after huge game vs. Steelers

“I’m number one.”

The Cleveland Browns defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football, and reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett played a huge role in why.

Racking up three sacks, a forced fumble, and a massive eight pressures in the win, Garrett was interviewed after the game. And during his interview, Garrett made a statement to the rest of the NFL: He’s the best defensive player in the NFL.

“I’m number one. That’s from EDGE1 to Defensive Player of the Year. I’m the guy. That runs through me. There is no other person being defended as I am, or schemed or planned against like I am. So that just goes to show, you can throw that out the window; I’m going to find a way.”

It’s hard to argue with Garrett, who now sits second in the NFL in sacks with 10 on the season. After winning the award a year ago, Garrett is coming on strong in the back half of the season to prove he deserves to repeat as the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Saints rookie’s performance gets more impressive even on bye week

Taliese Fuaga’s performance versus Myles Garrett gets more impressive after Garrett’s monster game on ‘Thursday Night Football’

Cleveland Browns edge rusher, Myles Garrett, has recorded six sacks in the past three weeks, three sacks in Week 12 and three sacks in Week 10. When the Browns came to New Orleans in Week 11, however, New Orleans Saints rookie left tackle, Taliese Fuaga, kept Garrett off the stat sheet completely.

That performance was impressive even if you isolate it to one game. A rookie tackle going against a star pass rusher and winning the battle is a positive sign for Fuaga’s ceiling. Then, when you expand your view to multiple games, what he did becomes more impressive.

Russell Wilson couldn’t get away from Garrett in the first half of the Browns and Steelers matchup on Thursday night. Garrett had three sacks and a forced fumble against the Steelers. After the game, he proclaimed himself the best edge rusher and best defensive player in the league.

With two monster performances in recent weeks, his bravado is earned. That just makes Taliese Fuaga’s Week 11 performance more impressive.

Myles Garrett puts T.J. Watt on notice after loss

Myles Garrett did not hold back in his post-game interview.

It was tough to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers’ performance against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night again. What should have been a win for the Steelers turned into a debacle of the highest order. One of the highlights was supposed to be the showdown between Browns EDGE Myles Garrett and Steelers EDGE T.J. Watt.

The showdown ended up being completely lopsided as Garrett dominated the Steelers offensive front and Watt was largely a non-factor. After the game, Garrett called out Watt bigtime after the game and put him on notice that he feels like he’s the No. 1 and everyone else, including Watt is chasing him.

That’s a pretty bitter pill to swallow for Steelers fans but there’s no denying how well Garrett played and how little an impact Watt had.

Myles Garrett notches hat trick of sacks for Browns in first half against Steelers

Myles Garrett had a huge first half for the Browns against the Steelers

Myles Garrett spent the first half Thursday night harassing Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson.

The great Cleveland defensive lineman had three sacks and a forced fumble as the Browns took a 10-3 lead into the break.

T.J. Watt and the Steelers defense had yet to sack Jameis Winston.

Myles Garrett wreaks havoc in first half vs. Steelers on Thursday Night Football

The Reigning Defensive Player of the Year is taking it personally.

Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns defense continue to show strength on Thursday Night Football with another forced turnover against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year has had a tremendous performance in the first half of this game. On a crucial responsive drive for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Garrett forced a fumble from quarterback Russell Wilson on second down. The ball was recovered by linebacker Winston Reid after Garrett and Wilson wrestled for the recovery. In the strong effort by the entire Cleveland Browns defense, Garrett has already collected three sacks along with the forced fumble.

The Browns have been able to shut down this rolling Steelers offense so far in this game. The Steelers, who are averaging 27.25 points per game since Russell Wilson took over, only have three points heading into halftime. We’ll see if the Cleveland defense and their leader, Myles Garrett, can have a similar performance in the second half.
