New Bears Tight End Kmet on Why Football Over Baseball

New Bears draft pick, tight end Cole Kmet jumped on the radio in Chicago and discussed football over baseball and his Chicago Cubs fandom.

Cole Kmet gets to live out his childhood dream that quite frankly, I’m very jealous of.  Pitch your high school to a state championship, star on both Notre Dame’s football and baseball teams and then get drafted by the Chicago Bears.  Pretty good run if you can get it.

Why did Kmet choose football over baseball though?  He was asked that exact question on his appearance on Chicago’s Sports Radio 670 The Score’s morning show with Mike Mulligan and David Haugh Tuesday morning and answered with the following:

“At the end of the day, you just got to choose something you’re really passionate about…Football, for me, is what did it. Running out of the tunnel on Saturdays was just something I just loved doing and want to continue to do. I felt like this was my path and what I wanted to do.”

The local star was also asked about a couple of his tweets in regards to the Chicago Cubs who it turns out he’s a huge fan of but didn’t very much enjoy a tough 2014 campaign of there’s when they were sent.
