Michigan State football will be without one of its top defenders for the rest of the season.
Head coach Mel Tucker confirmed on Monday that starting linebacker Darius Snow is out for the rest of the year after experiencing what appeared to be a lower body or leg injury in Friday’s season-opening win over Western Michigan. Snow got hurt in the first half of that matchup and didn’t return to the game with the medical staff needing to assist him leave the field.
Another potential critical defensive injury was to starting safety and team captain Xavier Henderson. He also left Friday’s game with what appeared to be a leg injury as well, but Tucker said he expects Henderson to return this season.
Tucker didn’t reveal the severity of Henderson’s injury but stated he is “sore” and “he’ll be ready when he’s ready.” It’s great news for the Spartans that Henderson hasn’t be ruled out for the season but we won’t truly know when he’ll return until we see him back on the field.
Mel Tucker said LB Darius Snow is out for the year. "I feel terribly for him. he worked hard and was playing at a high level." Says Xavier Henderson "is sore, so we'll just have to see how he comes along with his treatment. But he'll be ready when he's ready."
