Michigan State football listed in Lindy’s preseason top 25

Michigan State cracked Lindy’s preseason top 25 for the upcoming college football season

Michigan State cracked Lindy’s preseason top 25 for the upcoming college football season.

The preseason poll from Lindy’s was recently released, and the Spartans were one of the 25 teams to make the list. Michigan State came in at No. 20 on the list — which is rather low compared to similar preseason polls coming out.

Here’s what was written about the Spartans:

“The Spartans piled up players in the transfer portal and hope veteran leadership on offense can help replace the production of Doak Walker winner Kenneth Walker and his obvious impact in the ground game. Three new starters along the offensive line might be concerning. The secondary was college football’s worst in 2021, so improvements needed there are obvious as well.”

Other Big Ten teams listed in Lindy’s preseason poll include Ohio State (No. 2), Michigan (No. 6) and Wisconsin (No. 16).

College football analyst considers MSU a great value bet to win Big Ten this year

To one college football analyst, betting on Michigan State to win the Big Ten this fall is a great value move

To one college football analyst, betting on Michigan State to win the Big Ten this fall is a great value move.

Collin Wilson of The Action Network released his thoughts on the best and worst value bets to win their conferences this year, and he recommends betting on the Spartans. He listed Michigan State as the best value bet, while Indiana is the worst.

Here’s a bit of what he had to say about Michigan State and its odds to win the Big Ten:

“The Big Ten East is one of the toughest divisions in all of college football, but this Michigan State number deserves attention in preseason betting. … Quarterback Payton Thorne returns one of the most explosive weapons in the nation, as Jayden Reed will be complemented by a host of talented skill position players looking to replace NFL talents Kenneth Walker III and Jalen Nailor.”

Michigan State football listed in Athlon Top 25 rankings for 2022

Athlon Sports released their top 25 for the 2022 season on Wednesday, which had the Spartans listed inside the top 15

It’s the time of the year when everyone will start coming out with their preseason rankings for the 2022 college football season, and the Spartans should be a common occurrence. That’s the case here for Athlon Sports.

Athlon Sports released their top 25 for the 2022 season on Wednesday, which had the Spartans listed inside the top 15. Michigan State came in at No. 14 in Athlon’s rankings.

Here’s a bit of what was said about the Spartans:

Behind a huge season from running back Kenneth Walker III, Michigan State improved from 2-5 in ’20 to 11-2 in coach Mel Tucker’s second year in East Lansing. Walker is off to the NFL, but quarterback Payton Thorne returns to headline the offense. Thorne threw for 3,233 yards and 27 touchdowns last season, and while Jalen Nailor also is gone, his favorite target (Jayden Reed) is back.

Michigan State was the third highest-ranked team in the Big Ten. The Spartans were behind only Ohio State (No. 2) and Michigan (No. 6). Other Big Ten teams also ranked include Wisconsin (No. 19) and Penn State (No. 25).

Check out our best- and worst-case scenarios for each Big Ten team this upcoming season

It’s something every college football fan does for their team: what’s the best- and worst-case scenario heading into the season? What are the minimum and a maximum number of games my favorite team will win and lose?

This is something I’ve personally done for years and now I’m taking it to the keyboard for each and every Big Ten team as we look ahead to the 2022 season.

247Sports predicts best-, worst-case scenarios for MSU football in 2022

In the eyes of 247Sports’ Brad Crawford, Michigan State football will be somewhere between seven to 10 wins in 2022

In the eyes of 247Sports’ Brad Crawford, Michigan State football will be somewhere between seven to 10 wins in 2022.

Crawford released his best- and worst-case scenarios for each Big Ten team this past week, which found Michigan State making a bowl game no matter what. He believes Michigan State in a best-case scenario would go 10-2, while his worst-case scenario is 7-5 for the Spartans.

Here’s a bit of what Crawford had to say about Michigan State’s two scenarios:

“Michigan State plays the four highest-ranked teams in the Big Ten this season, so splitting matchups with Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin and Penn State is likely best case for Mel Tucker’s crew. … Would the Spartans have this much of a significant fall from grace after last season’s success? It’s possible if the ground game fails to produce without Kenneth Walker III.”

Click on the tweet below to see the complete write-up on Michigan State, as well as Crawford’s projections for every Big Ten team:
