Michigan State basketball is safely in the NCAA Tournament at the moment, and in a good spot to land one of the top seeds, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.

Lunardi released an updated batch of “Bracketology” on Tuesday, where he has the Spartans as a No. 3 seed. It’s a slight drop from where Michigan State was a few weeks ago as a No. 2 seed.

In this latest NCAA Tournament bracket projection, Michigan State would face No. 14 seed UC Irvine in Milwaukee.

If the season ended today, Michigan State basketball would be a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament — according to Joe Lunardi of ESPN.

Lunardi — who is known for his season-long NCAA Tournament bracket projections — released an updated “seed list” on Monday, with the Spartans coming in as a No. 3 seed. He officially listed Michigan State as the No. 12 overall team — which comes out as the lowest No. 3 seed.

Michigan State is the second-highest ranked BigTen team in Lunardi’s seed list, behind only Purdue, who is the final No. 1 seed.

Michigan State moves up in latest ESPN Bracketology from Joe Lunardi

Michigan State has moved up in the latest batch of ESPN’s Bracketology by Joe Lunardi.

Lunardi released a new bracket projection for the 2022 NCAA Tournament on Wednesday, and the Spartans saw a slight bump. Michigan State moved up from a No. 7 seed in Lunardi’s last projection to a No. 6 seed in this one.

The Spartans are slated to play No. 11 seed Belmont in the East Region. Should Michigan State win in this projected bracket, they’d most likely face No. 3 seed Duke.

I’m not sure why exactly Michigan State moved up as the Spartans’ roster has not changed since that last bracketology update. But moving up from a No. 7 seed to a No. 6 seed is big and seems like a fitting spot for Michigan State entering the 2021-22 season.
