Michigan State projected as No. 7 seed in ESPN’s Bracketology update

Michigan State basketball could be facing a familiar face in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi

Michigan State basketball could be facing a familiar face in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.

Lunardi released an updated batch of Bracketology on Sunday morning, which has the Spartans as a No. 7 seed. That seed seems about right for Michigan State but what’s more interesting is who Lunardi has the Spartans playing in the first round — No. 10 seed Davidson.

Davidson is where former Spartan guard Foster Loyer transferred to this past offseason so it would be Michigan State facing off against Loyer in the opening round.

The official NCAA Tournament bracket will be released on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. EDT.

It hasn’t been a good week for Michigan State basketball but the Spartans appear to still be safely in the NCAA Tournament.

Despite a pair of blowout losses at Michigan and Ohio State this week, Michigan State remains safely in the field of 68 in ESPN’s updated Bracketology post from Joe Lunardi. He currently has the Spartans as a No. 7 seed in his latest bracket update.

Michigan State will wrap up the regular season on Sunday against Maryland. From there, Michigan State will have the Big Ten Tournament to hopefully improve their NCAA Tournament resume.

T3 Bracketology considers MSU lock for NCAA Tournament following win over Purdue

It appears Michigan State will once again be dancing in the NCAA Tournament this year

[mm-video type=video id=01fwrwt6dkene14myxba playlist_id=01eqbz825g32p3akwt player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01fwrwt6dkene14myxba/01fwrwt6dkene14myxba-6d85cd2af9703d15a2d4ac45a094e3b6.jpg]

Michigan State basketball has locked up a spot in the NCAA Tournament in the eyes of T3 Bracketology.

The Spartans picked up a massive upset win over Purdue on Saturday to snap a three-game losing streak. The win improved the Spartans’ record to 19-9 on the season, which should be good enough to secure an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament, according to T3 Bracketology.

Michigan State was one of five teams that T3 Bracketology considered to lock up bids for the NCAA Tournament on Saturday. This essentially means even if the Spartans were to lose out they should still have a resume strong enough to get a tournament bid.

Michigan State has three more games left on their regular-season schedule. The Spartans have a pair of road games against Michigan (Tuesday) and Ohio State (Thursday) before ending the season with a home matchup against Maryland (Sunday).

Michigan State’s disappointing loss at Penn State earlier this week apparently didn’t hurt them in the eyes of ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.

Lunardi released an updated version of Bracketology on Friday, and the Spartans remained in the same spot as they did before that loss to the Nittany Lions. Michigan State is still a No. 5 seed in Lunardi’s bracket projection and still slated to play No. 12 seed Davidson in the first round.

Michigan State is safely in the NCAA Tournament, but it has seen its seed stock drop in recent weeks, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.

Lunardi released on Tuesday an updated bracketology, which has the Spartans as a No. 5 seed. He projects Michigan State to open against No. 12 Davidson in the Midwest Region.

The Spartans have been slowly dropping in the recent weeks; Lunardi had Michigan State as a No. 3 seed for multiple weeks. At least, Michigan State looks to be a near lock to be dancing this season, which wasn’t the case this time last year.

Michigan State’s embarrassing blowout loss at Rutgers last week has resulted in them dropping in the latest ESPN Bracketology update.

The Spartans were dominated by the Scarlet Knights on Saturday, and that loss dropped Michigan State from a No. 3 seed to a No. 4 seed in Tuesday’s updated version. Joe Lunardi of ESPN has Michigan State taking on No. 13 Chattanooga in a South Region first round matchup.

Losing at home Northwestern definitely will hurt your NCAA Tournament stock so it’s no surprise to see the Spartans drop in the latest batch of Bracketology from ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.

Lunardi released an updated bracket projection on Tuesday, which has the Spartans as a No. 4 seed in the East region. Michigan State is slated to play No. 13 seed Ohio in the projected first-round matchup.

Michigan State was as high as a No. 2 seed just a few weeks ago, but lackluster play over the past few games has resulted in the Spartans sliding.
