Michigan State is a favorite to end up on the one line in next year’s NCAA Tournament, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.

There’s a lot of hype surrounding the Spartans as we inch closer and closer to the 2023-24 season. That hype is certainly backed by Lunardi — who has the Spartans as a No. 1 seed in the East Region in his updated batch of Bracketology released on Tuesday. He also is high on the Purdue Boilermakers from the Big Ten, and has them as the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region. This is notable since the Midwest Region Sweet 16 and Elite Eight games will be played in Detroit.

In total, Lunardi has eight teams from the Big Ten dancing in next year’s NCAA Tournament. That is tied with the SEC for the most for any conference.

The latest bracketology update from Joe Lunardi of ESPN would be a dream for Michigan State basketball.

Lunardi still has the Spartans as a No. 1 seed in his updated bracket projection for the 2023-24 NCAA Tournament that was released last week. But the notable update from his original bracket that came out in April is that he now has the Spartans in the Midwest Region — which will be hosted in Detroit this year. So should the Spartans make it past the first weekend, they’d be playing right down the road for a trip to the Final Four.

Lunardi has a total of nine Big Ten teams in his updated bracket projection — which is the most of any conference.

It’s never too early to look ahead to the NCAA Tournament, right?

While the final buzzer rang just last week on the college basketball season, Joe Lunardi of ESPN has already begun working on next year’s bracket projection. And, boy, does he like the Spartans in 2023-24.

Lunardi has the Spartans coming in as a No. 1 seed in the West Region in his first batch of bracketology for the 2023-24 season. Michigan State would face the winner of No. 16 seeds Texas Southern and Wagner in the first round.

Lunardi has eight Big Ten teams making the NCAA Tournament next year. He’s also very high on Purdue. The Boilermakers are one of his other No. 1 seeds.

This will mark the 25th straight NCAA Tournament appearance for the Spartans, which is second to the Kansas Jayhawks, who will be making their 33 straight field this year.

MSU’s strong week on the hardwood has resulted in a higher seed in the latest batch of Bracketology from CBS Sports

Michigan State’s strong week on the hardwood resulted in a higher seed in the latest bracketology report from CBS Sports.

The Spartans picked up a pair of NCAA Tournament resume-boosting victories last week over Maryland and Ohio State. Jerry Palm moved them up one spot to a No. 9 seed in Monday’s updated bracket projection. Palm has Michigan State playing No. 8 seed NC State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Michigan State is one of nine teams from the Big Ten listed in Palm’s projected bracket. The others are Purdue, Indiana, Illinois, Rutgers, Iowa, Maryland, Northwestern and Wisconsin.
