Michigan State basketball was tested on Saturday night, and luckily was able to get by with a victory over Bowling Green.

The Spartans trailed most of the game, but was able to lockdown the Falcons in the final minutes to earn the 86-72 win. Michigan State held Bowling Green without a field goal for the final seven minutes of the game, and ended the night on an 18-0 run for the victory.

The Spartans had seven different players reach double-digits in points in the win. Jaden Akins led the group with 13 points, and also finished the night with 12 rebounds for a double-double.

Michigan State will return to the court on Tuesday in one final game before the Maui Invitational the week of Thanksgiving. The Spartans host Samford from the Breslin Center in that matchup.

A win is a win. That was the feeling after a lackluster performance from Michigan State basketball on Saturday night.

Michigan State trailed most of the game, but a strong finish was enough for the Spartans to survive an upset scare from Bowling Green at the Breslin Center. Michigan State finished the game on an 18-0 run and held the Falcons without a field goal in the final seven minutes for the 86-72 victory.

Michigan State had seven different players reach double-digits in points in the win. Jaden Akins led the way with 13 points and also 12 rebounds for the double-double.

The Spartans are now 3-1 overall following the win over Bowling Green. Michigan State will next take the floor on Tuesday in a home non-conference game against Samford.

It’s going to be a double-header of Michigan State major sports on November 16.

It was announced on Wednesday that next week’s matchup between Michigan State men’s basketball and Bowling Green will tip off at 6 p.m. ET on November 16. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

Earlier in the day, Michigan State football will play at Illinois. That game will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. ET, which would mean that game should finish just in time for fans to then switch over to the Spartans basketball game.
