MSU Football receives no votes in updated AP Top 25 Poll

Still no love for the Spartans from the media

Michigan State football picked up a big road upset this past weekend, but it wasn’t enough to generate any traction in the latest Associated Press (AP) rankings.

The updated AP Top 25 poll was released on Sunday, and Michigan State once again failed to receive any votes in the poll. The Spartans have yet to get a single vote in the poll this year.

Five teams from the Big Ten were ranked in this week’s AP poll: Ohio State (No. 3), Penn State (No. 8), USC (No. 11), Michigan (No. 17) and Nebraska (No. 22).

Michigan State is 2-0 on the year following Saturday’s comeback victory over Maryland. The Spartans will host Prairie View A&M this week, with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.

Michigan State received two votes in the Week 2 US LBM Coaches Poll released on Sunday as well. So the coaches apparently have more respect for the Spartans than the media.

MSU basketball drops out of latest USA TODAY Coaches, AP Top 25 polls

To no surprise, Michigan State basketball is no longer ranked

To no surprise, Michigan State basketball is no longer ranked in either the USA TODAY Coaches Poll or Associated Press (AP) Top 25.

The latest batch of each poll came out on Monday, and the Spartans dropped from the rankings in both. Michigan State was previously No. 20 in both polls.

The Spartans earned three votes in the AP Top 25 poll and five votes in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll.

Michigan State went 0-2 last week — losing by nearly 20 at Notre Dame and then following up that blowout with a stunning loss to Northwestern at home. The Spartans are 5-4 on the year and will look to avoid dropping to .500 in a road test at Penn State on Wednesday.
