Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Switch Skills: How to unlock, equip, and use

How to unlock, equip, and use Switch Skills and the Switch Skill Dodge in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, the big new DLC expansion, is finally available for everyone, and you can now start MHR Subreak. One of the big new features in Sunbreak available from near the start of the game is Switch Skills. Previously you had to equip the skills you wanted before battle, or in the expedition tent, but now you can set a loadout of Switch Skills and swap between the two at any time.

This is a lovely little mechanic that incentivizes using different Wirebug Skills. It also adds a bunch more skills to the game, allowing players to experiment even more. To unlock and start using the new Switch Skills, just read through our guide below.

Monster Hunter Rise has finally launched its huge new expansion, Sunbreak. Sunbreak is a substantial update to the game that adds new monsters, weapons, and armor sets. This is the kind of DLC expansion that will have you playing for as much time as the original game, if not longer thanks to a new endgame.

In this guide we’ll be quickly running you through how to access the Sunbreak DLC content. While completing Event and Hub quests added post-launch aren’t necessary to reach the Sunbreak DLC, there is a requirement before you can access it. Monster Hunter: Rise reaches 9 million sales milestone

Monster Hunter: Rise, the Switch & PC follow-up to World bringing Monster Hunter into the mainstream (and becoming Capcom’s best selling game in the process), has hit 9 million sales.

Capcom have issued an update on their best-selling titles and Monster Hunter continues to do rather well. Monster Hunter: Rise, the Switch & PC follow-up to World bringing Monster Hunter into the mainstream (and becoming Capcom’s best selling game in the process), has hit 9 million sales. This is only a few hundred thousand short of Iceborne, the expansion to World, which has hit 9.2 million ahead of March 31. World itself is now at 18 million units, while Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, a spin-off Monster Hunter with Pokemon-adjacent gameplay, hit 1.5 million.

Given Rise isn’t available on Xbox or Playstation consoles – which quite a few people own, in case you didn’t know – it’s a pretty big achievement. It’s still a mainline game, as the Nintendo audience has been very core to Monster Hunter for many years, but World was an aberration of unprecedented proportions, still being capcom’s best-selling game ever by a significant margin.

Other notables from the platinum games update (anything that Capcom has sold over a million copies of), via Gematsu, are Resident Evil: Village making it over 6 million and DMC5 getting to 5 million. The full list can be seen there, with even Street Fighter V getting some love.

Monster Hunter: Rise’s Sunbreak expansion gets a release date

June will be a good month for monster-slaying enthusiasts.

Would-be beast slayers should know that Monster Hunter Rise’s Sunbreak expansion is coming out on June 30, 2022.

Capcom went ahead with the release date announcement on Tuesday. Unlike Monster Hunter Rise’s initial launch last year, Sunbreak will come out simultaneously on Nintendo Switch and PC, though there (regrettably) won’t be cross-platform play. Monster Hunter Rise only came out on PC recently, and GLHF’s Dave Aubrey said it was one of the series’ best entries in his review

There’s also a brand new trailer for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak showing some of the new beasts and gear that you can check out below.

Capcom has a colossal publisher sale on Steam for the next week, and Monster Hunter Rise is one of the many titles seeing discounts. Here’s a list of the best deals.

Monster Hunter was big in Japan for years but never took off in other regions. Not until Monster Hunter World came out in 2018 and became the highest-selling title in Capcom’s history with 20 million copies sold. Now the series is right up there with Resident Evil and Street Fighter as one of the company’s crown jewels.

Monster Hunter Rise: Argosy submarine quest guides

MH Rise’s Argosy can have up to three submarines running at once, but you’ll need to unlock and complete these quests to get all of them.

Monster Hunter Rise is, like previous Monster Hunter entries, equally focused on gathering as it is hunting, as we say in our MH Rise PC review. Yes, hunting is the selling point, but it’s all in the name of gathering items to increase your arsenal of equipment – for more efficient hunting. There are some rare items that can’t be found in any quest, though. For many of those, you will need to use the Argosy submarines.

The Argosy and its submarines are run by Rondine, who you can find in the Buddy Plaza. She will have one submarine available to you immediately and will have two more available once you complete a couple of quests. Read down below for everything you need to know to get all submarines in Monster Hunter Rise

Best Monster Hunter Rise mods – Top mods for MH Rise on PC

If you have MH Rise on PC, you should mod it to improve the experience. Here are a few of the best non-cheat engine mods you can use in MHR.

Monster Hunter Rise is finally available on PC after a lengthy period of being a Nintendo Switch exclusive. This new version of the game makes it look and run better than ever, as we outline in our Monster Hunter Rise PC review. Whether it’ll one day join our list of the best PC games remains to be seen.

One of the benefits of a PC release is mods. The community can create cosmetic mods, visual mods, and much more to enhance your Monster Hunter Rise experience. There’s no Thomas The Tank Engine mod (yet) but even in these early days there is a decent selection of mods to use. Many mods focus on enabling cheat engines or modifying other game settings, but we won’t be including those in this list.

Monster Hunter Rise on PC will include all content from the Nintendo Switch version

Nothing is being left out the PC port.

When Monster Hunter: Rise  launches on PC next year, all post-launch content from the Nintendo Switch version will be there.

Capcom took some time to address fan concerns regarding what’s all in the PC port of Monster Hunter: Rise, especially in light of news that there would be  no cross-player between versions. Rest assured, nothing will be left behind when the game comes out for PC on Jan. 12, 2022.

“When Monster Hunter Rise  launches on Steam, it will include all of the content up to Ver.3.6.1 of the Nintendo Switch version,” Capcom said  on Steam. “We are also planning to synch the content with the Nintendo Switch version at the end of February 2022.”

Monster Hunter: Rise  has been on Nintendo Switch since March of this year and there’s been a slew of updates since. Collaborations include crossovers with Megaman 11OkamiStreet FighterGhosts ‘n GoblinsMonster Hunter Stories 2 and  Sonic the Hedgehog.

Furthermore, loads of new monsters have been added since the Nintendo Switch launch too. Such as Teostra, Kushala Daora, Chameleos, Apex Diablos, Apex Rathalos, Crimson Glow Valstrax and Apex Zinogre. The two new endings will be in the PC port as well.

Sunbreakthe expansion for Monster Hunter: Rise  coming summer 2022, will launch simultaneously on PC and Nintendo Switch.

‘Monster Hunter: Rise’ will not support cross-play between Nintendo Switch and PC

If you plan to double-dip on Monster Hunter: Rise’s PC port, know you’re leaving Switch progress behind.

Anyone hoping that the upcoming PC port of Monster Hunter: Rise  would play nice with its Nintendo Switch counterpart is in for a big disappointment. According to developer Capcom, neither cross-saves nor cross-play will be part of the game.

Monster Hunter: Rise came out on Nintendo Switch  back in March and is already one of the  highest-selling titles of the year. As Capcom is looking to  make PC its primary platform, a port of Monster Hunter: Rise, along with its forthcoming Sunbreak  expansion, are coming to PC next summer. The port will support loads of graphical bells and whistles that aren’t available on the Switch version, but sadly, progression and play between the two platforms aren’t among those features.

“We’ve heard your requests for Cross-Save/Cross-Play for Monster: Hunter: Rise and Sunbreak,” Capcom said on Twitter. “Unfortunately, after looking into it throughout the development process, we found we are unable to implement it this time.”

It’s not shocking, per se, but easy to understand why many fans aren’t thrilled with this announcement. Monster Hunter requires you to play for hundreds of hours to reach its coolest content. So anyone that wants to double-dip and get the PC version for its technical improvements will just have to grind to the end game again

Cross-saves, in particular, isn’t an uncommon feature between Switch and PC, either. The recent Diablo 2: Resurrected, for example, allows for it. As for cross-play between platforms, it’s more of a standard every day. Fortnite  is huge on Switch and has cross-play.

Here’s to hoping Capcom changes its tune before Monster Hunter: Rise  makes it to PC.
