Twitter reacts to the poor start by Steelers QB Mitch Trubisky

Mitch Trubisky is having a horrible first half and Twitter is letting him know.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky has gotten off to a terrible start and Twitter is not holding back. Here are some of the best reactions so far.

Mitch Trubisky played so horribly on TNF that Steelers fans chanted for the equally awful Mason Rudolph

Steelers fans are not having a good time right now.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially reached quarterback rock bottom.

The Patriots are a bad football team, and the Steelers have been a surprise AFC Wild Card contender this season. However, things got a bit out of hand for Pittsburgh behind center as the team hosted the Pats at home on Thursday Night Football.

As second-string quarterback Mitch Trubisky struggled against the lowly  Patriots, Steelers fans began chanting for third-string quarterback Mason Rudolph to enter the game.

With underperforming 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett sidelined with an injury, Steelers fans resorted to wanting the team’s third quarterback to play over Trubisky, the proper backup. Yes, it really had gotten that bad.

There’s really not a lot you can do in a situation like this if you’re a Pittsburgh fan. Pickett was already not playing well, and now you’ve got the backup quarterback in Trubisky struggling against a team with two wins in December.

Rudolph is most assuredly not the answer for the Steelers right now, but fans will literally chant for any player to give themselves some false sense of agency to feel like any sort of change will automatically make things better.

Until then, Steelers fans will gripe while one of their quarterbacks plays poorly and call for the next guy to come in and basically play the same way.

Steelers crowd chanting for QB Mason Rudolph

The fans at Acrisure Stadium have seen enough of Mitch Trubisky.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky promised he’d be aggressive on Thursday night against the New England Patriots and that the team needed to score more points. So far, Trubisky’s performance has done nothing to impress anyone, especially not the crowd at Acrisure Stadium.

Trubisky has already thrown one interception, had another where he was bailed out by a penalty and nearly threw two more interceptions. The crowd has booed him consistently since the first drive and after the first interception, the chants for backup quarterback Mason Rudolph have begun and re-emerge each poor decision Trubisky makes.

The Steelers team looks completely out of sorts as they trail the 2-10 Patriots 14-3 with just over 10 minutes left in the first half.

How Steelers QB Mitch Trubisky’s ‘aggressive’ approach could pay off vs. Patriots

The Steelers aren’t an aggressive offense, but Mitch Trubisky plans to change that.

Points are something the Pittsburgh Steelers have struggled to score this season, but Mitch Trubisky hopes to change that tonight.

“I’m going to be aggressive,” Trubisky said on Wednesday. “I’m going to take care of the football, and we’ve got to play better as an offense. We’re going against a good defense this week that is well-coached. So, we’ve got to do our job and execute. We want to be an aggressive offense. So whatever that means, taking care of football, we got to find ways to score points. That’s the bottom line.”

While he aims to be more assertive than Kenny Pickett, it could lead to interceptions, something Pickett has not done this season. But since Pickett’s approach hasn’t led to points, Trubisky could be onto something — if his plan doesn’t result in turnovers.

The Patriots have a defense ranked eighth overall, but they’ve gotten there by stuffing the run. New England’s 16th-ranked defense has surrendered 216 yards and 13 touchdowns through the air and has the (tied) third-fewest interceptions with six.

We’ll see if an aggressive approach — something the Steelers have only attempted on opening drives in recent weeks — will be successful enough to squeak out a win.

NFL experts going all in on the Steelers beating the Patriots

The experts think the Steelers will beat the Cardinals this week.

Despite a blowout loss last week to the Arizona Cardinals, the Pittsburgh Steelers are heavily favored this week against the New England Patriots. This probably says more about the state of the Patriots than the Steelers at this point.

Most NFL pundits are leaning in on the Steelers finding a way to bounce back this week and beat the 2-10 Patriots. We look to NFL Pick Watch for the latest info on what experts from all over the internet are thinking about this week’s game.

Pundits are currently taking the Steelers 96 percent of the time with the Patriots only getting four percent of the expert picks.

Pittsburgh fell to 7-5 last week but one thing head coach Mike Tomlin is known for is not losing back-to-back games so we expect the team to rally and not lose two games in a row to bad football teams.

Steelers vs Patriots: 4 bold predictions for this week’s game

We predict Mitch Trubisky and T.J. Watt both have big games on Thursday night.

We’ve gotten to the point that we worry about giving the Pittsburgh Steelers the benefit of the doubt on anything when it comes to any sort of optimistic predictions. Nevertheless I’m going to try and the Steelers look to bounce back this Thursday night against the 2-10 New England Patriots.

Steelers QB Kenny Pickett could miss 4 games after ankle surgery

Pittsburgh might not get Kenny Pickett back until the final game of the season.

When it was first announced that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett was having surgery to repair his high ankle sprain, the timetable for Pickett’s return was something in the neighborhood of 2-4 weeks. Now, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the team is bracing for a worst-case scenario and Pickett to miss the full four weeks.

The sense out of Pittsburgh is quarterback Kenny Pickett could end up missing four weeks with that right ankle injury. I’ve talked to people who are at least bracing for that possibility.

If Pickett does have to miss four starts, he wouldn’t be able to return until the team’s season finale against the Baltimore Ravens. This would mean the Steelers offense would run through backup Mitch Trubisky.

That’s a tough spot for Pittsburgh depending on where they are in the playoff picture. If the Steelers need that final game to secure a spot in the playoffs, do you bring back a healthy but rusty Pickett or do you stick with Trubisky who is winning games?

Steelers QB Mitch Trubisky plans to be aggressive vs. Patriots

Mitch Trubisky gets the start this week in place of Kenny Pickett.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently averaging a woeful 16 points per game. This is 28th in the NFL and four teams worse are among the very worst teams in the league. The Steelers are an anomaly with a 7-5 record and such poor offensive output.

This week against the New England Patriots, Mitch Trubisky will start at quarterback for an injured Kenny Pickett. Trubisky made it clear this team needs to do better scoring points and he plans to push the football this week.

“I’m going to be aggressive,” Trubisky said.

Steelers RB Najee Harris offers lukewarm endorsement of QB Mitch Trubisky

Najee Harris didn’t have much to say about his new starting quarterback this week.

This Thursday the Pittsburgh Steelers will turn to Mitch Trubisky to start at quarterback when the Steelers take on the New England Patriots. Kenny Pickett had surgery on a high ankle sprain but will be out somewhere in the neighborhood of two to four weeks.

On Tuesday, starting running back Najee Harris was asked about the leadership of Trubisky. Typically when a reporter lobs up a softball like this, players take full advantage to hype them up to the press. But not Harris. Sometimes Harris’ honesty is refreshing but this time it makes us nervous.

When asked about the leadership of Trubisky, all the reporter got from Harris was, “It’s fine, I guess.” Then, when they followed up about his style, all they got was “Vocal, I guess.”

This doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in the Steelers offense to get on track this week finally. The Steelers fired Matt Canada two weeks ago and we saw something of a bounceback in week one. But last week, after Pickett went down, everything went wrong. Hopefully Trubisky does better than Harris is anticipating and can lead the Steelers to a win.

How Steelers HC Mike Tomlin plans to deal with Kenny Pickett’s proneness to injury

Injuries are part of the NFL. Unfortunately for Kenny Pickett, they’ve come far too often in his young 24-game career.

Injuries are part of the NFL. Unfortunately for Kenny Pickett, they’ve come far too often in his young 24-game career.

Just as he does with the Pittsburgh Steelers opponents, Mike Tomlin plans to deal with his proneness to injury on a case-by-case basis.

“I don’t know if we’re viewing it as something that’s chronic, particularly with something like an ankle injury,” Tomlin said during his Monday press conference. “We’re just dealing with this on a case-by-case basis as we sit here right now.”

The high ankle sprain marks the seventh time Pickett has exited a game injured and the third time this season alone.

Tomlin didn’t have any update on how long Pickett will be sidelined, only to say that Mitch Trubisky will be the starter versus the New England Patriots on Thursday.

He has no concern about Pickett’s injury being season-ending.
