When it was first announced that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett was having surgery to repair his high ankle sprain, the timetable for Pickett’s return was something in the neighborhood of 2-4 weeks. Now, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the team is bracing for a worst-case scenario and Pickett to miss the full four weeks.
The sense out of Pittsburgh is quarterback Kenny Pickett could end up missing four weeks with that right ankle injury. I’ve talked to people who are at least bracing for that possibility.
If Pickett does have to miss four starts, he wouldn’t be able to return until the team’s season finale against the Baltimore Ravens. This would mean the Steelers offense would run through backup Mitch Trubisky.
That’s a tough spot for Pittsburgh depending on where they are in the playoff picture. If the Steelers need that final game to secure a spot in the playoffs, do you bring back a healthy but rusty Pickett or do you stick with Trubisky who is winning games?
