Missouri at Mississippi State: Three things to know
- The Tigers were worked over by Georgia last Saturday, falling 49-14 in Columbia to splash cold water on what has been a pretty successful season under Eli Drinkwitz. They’ll look to bump up their record and improve their resume for a potential New Year’s Day bowl appearance.
- Mizzou’s offense produced 91 total points in the two previous games to the UGA beatdown. However, both of those games were at home. On the road the Tigers are just 1-2 SU/ATS in three away games, averaging just 15.3 PPG while allowing 28.7 PPG.
- Mississippi State dropped LSU in the opener Sept. 26, and it looked like it might be a special season with the Pirate, Mike Leach, bringing his Air Raid offense to Starkville. The Bulldogs are 1-7 SU/2-6 ATS in eight games since, with only a win over winless Vanderbilt to their credit.

Money line (ML)
MISSOURI (-115) is in search of a sixth victory, as they look to improve their bowl position, using that as a springboard into 2021. Mississippi State (-105) is searching for just its third win of the season, and its first against a winning team. It’s not happening, even though the Tigers do have some injury issues along the defensive line.
Against the spread (ATS)
MISSOURI -2 (+100) is a good play at even money, even though they have had some trouble winning on the road this season. In fact, their season is like a Dickens novel, as it’s a tale of two seasons.
At home, they’re almost championship caliber, but on the road, they’re about the same as Mississippi State +2 (-120). That’s why the books see this as a coin-flip game, but Drinkwitz will keep them motivated with an eye on a New Year’s Day prize and payday.
Over/Under (O/U)
UNDER 49.5 (-110) is the strongest play in this SEC battle, as the Under has cashed in seven straight for Mizzou on the road, including each of its past four as a favorite away from home.
The Under is also 6-1 in their past seven overall as a fave. The Under has cashed in seven of the last eight for Mississippi State, too. Leach will get the Air Raid cranked up once he gets his personnel in place after a normal offseason, but it isn’t gonna happen Saturday.
