Tulsa at Mississippi odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Tulsa at Mississippi odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tulsa Golden Hurricanes (2-1) travel to The Grove in Oxford to have an offensive battle with the Mississippi Rebels (3-0) Saturday at 4 p.m. ET. (SEC Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Tulsa vs.  Mississippi odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Ole Miss comes into this matchup after handling Georgia Tech on the road last Saturday 42-0. The offense of Lane Kiffin and the Rebels is right where we expected it to be early in the season. Even with QB Matt Corral departing, the transfer in of QB Jaxson Dart from USC meant the position would not take a step back. Thus far, the defense has taken a step forward this season, which will become even more important when they start SEC play next week.

Tulsa also handled business last Saturday in a 54-17 throttling of Jacksonville State. QB Davis Brin leads the country in passing yards (1,206) and passing TD (11). The Tulsa offense has not faced a defense the caliber of Ole Miss yet. Nor has the Ole Miss defense faced an offense this good. It will be an interesting chess match to see which unit comes out on top in Oxford.

Ole Miss is No. 13 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Tulsa at Mississippi picks and predictions

Prediction

Ole Miss 51, Tulsa 37

Money line

PASS.

The line is too high to recommend any form of bet here. Save your money.

Against the spread

It is only a small play, but I LEAN TULSA +21.5 (-108) to cover here.

Ole Miss has yet to take on a team which can keep up with them on offense. This week, in Tulsa, they might just have 1.

While I do not expect Tulsa to come close to winning, they can score enough to keep the game within the +21.5 and cover the spread. If I were making a play here, it would only be in Tulsa.

Over/Under

TAKE OVER 65.5 (-110) as the big play here.

This is by far the best play of the game. Ole Miss and the air raid offense want to run an up-tempo game. Tulsa, with Brin, are willing to match the tempo the Rebels want to play.

There will be many drives in this game and points will not be scarce.

If you make one play on this game, make it OVER 65.5 (-110).

Tulane at Mississippi odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Tulane at Mississippi odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tulane Green Wave (1-1) and Mississippi Rebels (2-0) meet Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Tulane vs. Mississippi odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Green Wave have overcome a lot so far this season, dealing with Hurricane Ida on campus, and then having its marquee game against Oklahoma moved for Week 1.

Tulane has responded well, falling 40-35 in a near-miss against the Sooners for an easy cover, before spanking Morgan State of the FCS by a 69-20 score last week to cover a 47.5-point number. Tulane is also a friend of the Over bettor going a perfect 2-for-2 so far.

The Rebels, No. 16 in the AFCA Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports, have also dealt with some adversity.

Head coach Lane Kiffin missed the opener in Atlanta against Louisville after testing positive due to COVID-19. They showed tremendous poise, manhandling the Cardinals 43-24. They came home and roughed up FCS Austin Peay 54-17, flexing more offensive muscle.

Tulane at Mississippi odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Mississippi 47, Tulane 38

Money line

Mississippi (-650) is going to win this game, and they have the tools on offense to put up a lot of points. But this Tulane (+440) is battle tested, on and off the field, and they are going to give the Rebels its best fight of the season.

Risking six-and-a-half times your potential return is not recommended, especially against a dangerous offense like Tulane, who went toe-to-toe with Oklahoma.

AVOID.

Against the spread

TULANE +14.5 (-115) catching more than two touchdowns is a good play. They exchanged blows with Oklahoma and came up just short against the Sooners and their Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback.

The Green Wave will face another great signal caller, as QB Matt Corral is a tremendous player. However, the Green Wave won’t be intimidated by the Rebels, or the scene in “The Grove”, after all they’ve been through in the past month. I like them to put up another good fight, and grab a third straight cover, before falling short on the scoreboard in the end.

Over/Under

OVER 76.5 (-105) is worth a look. The scoreboard operator at Vaught-Hemingway better be ready, and hopefully they have replaced the lightbulbs before kickoff. Because the scoreboard is going to get lit up.

Ole Miss has rolled up 599.5 total yards of offense, good for fourth in the nation, while scoring 48.5 PPG. The defense has been good, but not great, allowing 20.5 PPG.

Tulane has registered 52.0 PPG in two outings while posting 490.0 total yards per outing. And they’re allowing 30.0 PPG. This will be like a video game with huge offensive totals and points. Enjoy the ride.

Louisville vs. Mississippi odds, expert picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Louisville vs. Mississippi odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Louisville Cardinals and Mississippi Rebels meet Monday in a neutral-site game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Louisville vs. Mississippi odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Cardinals are looking for a bounce back after a 4-7 regular season, which included an 0-5 showing on the road. Can Louisville carry the flag for the ACC after a brutal Week 1? (Miami was smoked by Alabama, Clemson dropped the week’s marquee game to Georgia, Florida State lost to Notre Dame, Duke fell to Charlotte and Georgia Tech was upset by Northern Illinois as a 19-point home favorite).

The big news for the Rebels is that they’ll be without head coach Lane Kiffin, who tested positive for COVID-19 and is away from the team. The Rebels have yet to name a fill-in coach for the game, although it’s likely offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jeff Lebby, or co-defensive coordinators D.J. Durkin or Chris Partridge could fill the void.

Louisville vs. Mississippi odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Mississippi 41, Louisville 27

Money line

Mississippi (-380) will cost you 3.8 times your potential return. That’s risky business for such a small profit. It’s an especially poor bet since it could be out of sorts early with their coach back not on hand.

AVOID.

Against the spread

MISSISSIPPI -9.5 (-112) could get off to a sluggish start in this one. The Rebels make their way to Atlanta without their coach, and it might take some to get untracked. However, they have a powerful offense led by QB Matt Corral.

The Rebs racked up 384.3 total yards of offense per game last season, leading the nation. However, they need to take better care of the ball. Ole Miss turned it over 18 times last season, and that simply won’t do if it wants to be a top team in the ultra-competitive SEC West.

We’ll learn a lot about both teams in this one. The Rebels are ready for prime time, including standalone, marquee matchups. The Cardinals are simply mediocre, and will struggle just to attain bowl eligibility.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 75.5 (-108).

Under plays in college football are always dangerous, but this is a super high line. Yes, both Ole Miss and Louisville have powerful offenses, and very giving defenses. However, the Cardinals are replacing two top-notch receivers in Tutu Atwell and Dez Fitzpatrick, as well as RB Javian Hawkins. Ole Miss is trying to fill the shoes of WR Elijah Moore.

Toss in the fact Kiffin is away from the Rebs, and they could start off a little slow. Is it going to be a defensive slog? Definitely not. But a slow start will mean an uphill climb all evening for Over bettors, and they’ll come up just short.

LSU at Mississippi odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s LSU Tigers at Ole Miss Rebels sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The LSU Tigers (7-2, 2-1 SEC) face the Mississippi Rebels (6-3, 1-1) for an 8:30 p.m. ET tip at The Pavilion in Oxford, Miss. on Saturday. Below, we analyze the LSU-Mississippi college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

LSU at Mississippi: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 6:45 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: LSU +115 (bet $100 to win $115) | Mississippi -140 (bet $140 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: LSU +2.5 (-115) | Mississippi -2.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 150.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

LSU at Mississippi: Three things to know

  1. LSU’s high-powered offense helped them to a 94-92 win in overtime against Georgia, and they have scored 77 or more points in each of its nine games to date. The Tigers are averaging 86.8 points per game, ranking 13th in the nation, and they’re 29th in the nation with a 49.2 field-goal percentage.
  2. LSU F Shareef O’Neal, who is averaging 3.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and a team-leading 0.6 blocked shots per game, is listed as questionable due to a foot injury. He is the son of former LSU and NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal.
  3. Ole Miss scored a 72-61 victory over Auburn last time out, hitting the brakes on an 0-2 SU/ATS mini skid. The Rebels struggle from deep and are ranked 312nd in 3-point shooting (28.3%) while the Tigers are excellent at defending threes and ranked 28th in opponent’s 3-point percentage (27.5%).

LSU at Mississippi: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Mississippi 76, LSU 72

Money line (ML)

MISSISSIPPI (-140) is a decent play at home if you don’t want to sweat out the points and want some simplicity. It will cost you a little extra juice, however. The Rebels have won five of six games at home this season, with their lone loss an 83-79 setback against Wichita State in a non-conference tilt Jan. 2.

Against the spread (ATS)

MISSISSIPPI -2.5 (-105) has failed to cover in consecutive games since the first two outings of the season against Jackson State and UNC Wilmington on Dec. 10-12. The Rebs have posted five covers in the past seven at home against teams with a losing road record, so back Ole Miss at The Pavilion.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 150.5 (-110) has cashed in all but one of Mississippi’s nine games so far this season, with Under results in each of its two SEC tilts to date. Ole Miss has tossed a blanket on the opposition this season, allowing just 60.2 PPG to rank 16th in the country in scoring defense. The Rebels will have their hands full against LSU’s high-flying offense, but this one will come in just under the number.
