UFC Vegas 49: Misha Cirkunov vs. Wellington Turman odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Vegas 49 odds and lines between Misha Cirkunov vs. Wellington Turman, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a middleweight fight on the main card, Misha Cirkunov and Wellington Turman meet Saturday at UFC Vegas 49 – also known as UFC Fight Night 202 – at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Below, we analyze the UFC Vegas 49: Cirkunov vs. Turman odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The card can be viewed on ESPN+ with the prelims starting at 4 p.m. ET and the main card at 7 p.m.

Cirkunov heads into this one looking for a turnaround. He has dropped his last two fights while going 2-5 across the past seven bouts. Cirkunov had a split-decision loss to Krzysztof Jotko last time out in Oct. and was knocked out in the first round against Ryan Spann last March.

The slight favorite enters this one with a three-inch height advantage and five-inch reach advantage. He also has posted a 3.77-to-3.04 significant strikes landed per minute, while also holding a 61.94-to-53.44 significant strike accuracy percentage advantage.

To make matters worse for Turman, he isn’t great on the canvas either. Cirkunov holds a 4.48-to-2.22 takedown average, with a 1.68-to-0.56 submission average lead. There is no one area when Turman holds the advantage outside of the youth factor, as he is 25 years old compared to 34 years of age for the favorite. Cirkunov turns 35 years old Sunday.

UFC Vegas 49 Cirkunov vs. Green: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Cirkunov (15-7-0) | Green (17-5-0)

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

It’s a good play taking CIRKUNOV (-130) straight up to win this bout. He holds all of the advantages from significant strikes to his ground game, while also holding a tremendous reach advantage to keep Turman at bay.

The reach advantage is good for Cirkunov, as he’ll be able to keep Turman at a distance. The favorite has lost four fights since May 28, 2017, by KO/TKO, so the fact Turman will have a difficult time getting close to Cirkunov is good news. Turman has also been knocked out twice in the past three fights, so he won’t likely be eager to get too close to Cirkunov, either.

Over/Under (O/U)

Playing CIRKUNOV BY POINTS (+400) is a value play, with a chance to multiply your initial stake by four times. In addition, YES: FIGHT TO GO THE DISTANCE (+135) is also a value at plus-money. Three of Turman’s five fights at the UFC level have ended up needing the assistance of the judges, including a split-decision win over Smilin’ Sam Alvey last time out Aug. 28, 2021. Expect a similar result here.

UFC Fight Night 202 pre-event facts: Islam Makhachev is the least-hit fighter in UFC history

Islam Makhachev is the least-touched fighter in UFC history going into Saturday’s main event with Bobby Green.

The UFC closes its busy February schedule on Saturday with UFC Fight Night 202, which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and streams entirely on ESPN+.

After an injury forced Beneil Dariush out of the headliner on less than two weeks’ notice, a 160-pound bout will now serve as the main event of the card. [autotag]Islam Makhachev[/autotag] (21-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) will attempt to continue his winning streak when he takes on short-notice replacement [autotag]Bobby Green[/autotag] (29-12-1 MMA, 10-7-1 UFC), who will look to add his name to the list of quickest non-tournament turnaround wins with his second bout in 14 days.

For more on the numbers around the card, check below for 30 pre-event facts about UFC Fight Night 202.

Misha Cirkunov vs. Wellington Turman booked for UFC Fight Night 202

Just days after losing their opponents, a pair of middleweights have found a new matchup against each other.

Just days after losing their opponents, a pair of middleweights have found a new matchup against each other.

[autotag]Misha Cirkunov[/autotag] (15-7 MMA, 6-5 UFC) will fight [autotag]Wellington Turman[/autotag] (17-5 MMA, 2-3 UFC) next month at UFC Fight Night 202. The promotion announced the new booking Friday for the Feb. 26 event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Cirkunov had been scheduled to fight Makhmud Muradov (25-7 MMA, 3-1 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 202, but Muradov announced his withdrawal Thursday due to a hand injury. Turman was supposed to fight Rodolfo Vieira to open the main card this past Saturday at UFC 270, but Vieira was forced out the day before the fight due to medical reasons, leaving Turman without a bout.

Cirkunov will be looking to snap a two-fight skid. In March 2021, he was knocked out in the first round by Ryan Spann. This past October, he dropped a split decision to Krzysztof Jotko. After an eight-fight winning streak, including his first four in the UFC by stoppage, Cirkunov has dropped five of his past seven fights.

Turman is coming off a rebound win. After suffering back-to-back knockout losses to Andrew Sanchez and Bruno Silva, the 25-year-old edged out Sam Alvey by split decision at UFC on ESPN 30 in August 2021 in a bout in which he was deducted two points for repeated eye poke offenses.

With the change, the UFC Fight Night 202 lineup now includes:

  • Beneil Dariush vs. Islam Makhachev
  • Ignacio Bahamondes vs. Rong Zhu
  • Hannah Goldy vs. Jinh Yu Frey
  • Joel Alvarez vs. Arman Tsarukyan
  • Misha Cirkunov vs. Wellington Turman
  • Victor Altamirano vs. Carlos Hernandez
  • Terrance McKinney vs. Fares Ziam
  • Micheal Gillmore vs. Jonny Parsons
  • Priscila Cachoeira vs. Ji Yeon Kim
  • Josiane Nunes vs. Wu Yanan

Makhmud Muradov says he’s out of UFC Fight Night 202 vs. Misha Cirkunov

UFC Fight Night 202 has taken a hit at light heavyweight.

UFC Fight Night 202 has taken a hit at light heavyweight.

[autotag]Makhmud Muradov[/autotag] (25-7 MMA, 3-1 UFC) on Thursday said a hand injury has forced him out of his scheduled fight against [autotag]Misha Cirkunov[/autotag] (15-7 MMA, 6-5 UFC). Their bout was set for Feb. 26 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Muradov announced the news on his Instagram account.

“I want to share the sad news that, unfortunately, I injured my hand in training,” Muradov posted (translated). “After certain checks, it becomes clear how long the recovery process will take. I apologize to my opponent, the UFC and all my fans. I really wanted to fight on February 26, I was well prepared, unfortunately, the wound was also on our forehead. I would be happy if this fight is moved to March. Once again, I apologize to everyone, it’s a sport and in some cases we’re just weak. In Sha Allah we will recover and become stronger☝🏻”

It is not yet known if Cirkunov will stay on the card against a new opponent or if the matchup will be rebooked for a later date. The UFC has not made a formal announcement.

Cirkunov was looking to snap a two-fight skid. In March 2021, he was knocked out in the first round by Ryan Spann. This past October, he dropped a split decision to Krzysztof Jotko. After an eight-fight winning streak, including his first four in the UFC by stoppage, Cirkunov has dropped five of his past seven fights.

After a perfect 3-0 start to his UFC tenure, Muradov was trying to bounce back, as well. Wins over Alessio Di Chirico, Trevor Smith and Andrew Sanchez gave him a 14-fight winning streak. But in August, he was submitted by Gerald Meerschaert in the second round for his first loss since 2016.

With the change, the UFC Fight Night 202 lineup now includes:

  • Beneil Dariush vs. Islam Makhachev
  • Ignacio Bahamondes vs. Rong Zhu
  • Hannah Goldy vs. Jinh Yu Frey
  • Joel Alvarez vs. Arman Tsarukyan

Misha Cirkunov vs. Makhmud Muradov lined up for UFC’s Feb. 26 event

UFC Fight Night 193: Misha Cirkunov vs. Krzysztof Jotko odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 193 odds and lines between Misha Cirkunov vs. Krzysztof Jotko, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a middleweight bout on the main card, Misha Cirkunov meets Krzysztof Jotko at UFC Fight Night 193 – also known as UFC Vegas 38 – at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. Below, we analyze the UFC Fight Night 193: Cirkunov vs. Jotko odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The card can be viewed on ESPN+ with the prelims at 4 p.m. ET and the main card at 7 p.m. ET.

Cirkunov was knocked out in the first round last time out March 13 against Ryan Spann. He enters this bout with just two victories in his last six fights, with both wins by submission and each of the four setbacks via KO/TKO.

Jotko is also looking to bounce back after a unanimous-decision loss to Sean Strickland his last time out May 1. Each of his last four bouts has gone the distance, with three victories.

UFC Fight Night 193 Cirkunov vs. Jotko: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Cirkunov (15-6-0) | Jotko (22-5-0)

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

I really like JOTKO (-145) to bounce back from his unanimous-decision loss last time out, but don’t expect it to be short. He has ended up going the distance in each of his last four fights, six of his past eight, and 10 of his 14 bouts since arriving at the UFC level.

As such, play JOTKO ON POINTS (+235) for the chance to more than double up.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 1.5 ROUNDS (-180) is one of the best bets on the board. It might be a little on the expensive side, but given Jotko’s last four fights this one figures to go rather long. In fact, seven of his last eight fights would have won this prop.

Play YES: WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE? (+130) for an even better value. While each of Cirkunov’s last 10 fights has finished inside the distance Jotko is going to take him all the way.

Nevada extends Gillian Robertson, Misha Cirkunov temporary suspensions for marijuana

UFC fighters Gillian Robertson and Misha Cirkunov got their temporary suspensions extended by the NAC after testing positive for THC.

[autotag]Gillian Robertson[/autotag] and [autotag]Misha Cirkunov[/autotag] will have to remain out until they receive resolution on the status of their infractions in Nevada.

The two UFC fighters had their temporary suspensions extended by the Nevada Athletic Comission on Wednesday after they tested positive for carboxy-THC, the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, in connection with their March bouts in Las Vegas. Both suspensions will hold up until a full disciplinary hearing at the next NAC meeting expected to take place in June.

Robertson (9-6 MMA, 6-4 UFC) fought March 27 at UFC 260, losing a unanimous decision to Miranda Maverick. She officially was temporarily suspended on April 22.

[lawrence-related id=571161]

Cirkunov (15-6 MMA, 6-4 UFC) competed on March 13 in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 187. The 34-year-old suffered a first-round TKO loss to Ryan Spann. Cirkunov’s suspension began on April 8.

Both Robertson and Cirkunov will not receive punishment from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, the UFC’s anti-doping partner, as the organization eliminated marijuana from their violations policy.

UFC Fight Night 187 medical suspensions: Belal Muhammad faces 30 days after eye poke

Belal Muhammad isn’t facing a long time off after suffering a nasty eye poke against Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Night 187.

[mm-video type=video id=01f0rk9xdw5jzbn5hn playlist_id=01eqvpne7c1q486dvv player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01f0rk9xdw5jzbn5hn/01f0rk9xdw5jzbn5hn-0004b90e420f9325ab0f18363a480e2c.jpg]

Thankfully, [autotag]Belal Muhammad[/autotag] isn’t facing a potentially long medical suspension coming out of UFC Fight Night 187.

Muhammad’s first headliner vs. Leon Edwards was ruled a no contest after Edwards accidentally poked him in the eye 18 seconds into the second round of their welterweight fight. Visibly in pain, Muhammad was unable to continue and, as a result, the fight was stopped without a winner.

Muhammad (18-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC) was able to provide a positive update shortly after, stating that he suffered no permanent damage to his eye and was slowly starting to get his vision back. The medical report supports his claim as Muhammad will be prohibited from any contact for 21 days with no contest for 30 days, until he receives doctor clearance for his right eye.

MMA Junkie on Tuesday obtained the full list of suspensions from MixedMartialArts.com, the Association of Boxing Commissions’ official record keeper.

The full list of UFC Fight Night 187 medical suspensions includes:

UFC on ESPN+ 51 Cirkunov vs. Spann: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Cirkunov 15-5 | Spann 18-6

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

SPANN (+105) is a nice value as a short ‘dog in this one. He is looking for redemption after walking into a KO/TKO in Round 1 against Johnny Walker last time out on the Covington-Woodley card Sept. 19, 2020. That snapped an eight-bout win streak dating back to LFA 27 Nov. 10, 2017. Since arriving at the UFC level he has recorded decision wins, a submission and a KO/TKO, so he has shown versatility.

Cirkunov (-125) is also versatile, posting 4.18 significant strikes landed per minute while he has a ridiculous 65.42 significant strikes accuracy percentage. He also has a nice 4.42 takedown average and 57.89 takedown accuracy percentage with 2.41 submission average. This is going to be a war, and is a good bet for the fight of the night.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

All nine of Cirkunov’s fights since arriving at the UFC level have finished inside the distance, while Spann has finishes in three of his past four. It’s too expensive to take No (-375) on ‘will the fight go the distance?’, but you might want to take a chance on UNDER 1.5 ROUNDS (-150) as both of these fighters look to fire out of the chute and get the quick finish. There won’t be a lot of standing around and inactivity with these two.

SPANN BY KO/TKO, DQ OR SUBMISSION (+170) on the 5-way line is also worth a look, as “Superman” can help you almost double up if he can get the early finish.
