Vikings snap count analysis: Booth doesn’t play, Powell is WR3

The snap counts from Sunday tell us a lot about who the Vikings have faith in, including Brandon Powell

The Minnesota Vikings lost a tough game to the Denver Broncos on Sunday night by a score of 21-20.

The game was that of an up-and-down nature with Brian Flores’ defense playing well but the constant tough situations they were put in ended up costing them in a major way down the stretch.

What was really interesting about the game itself was how the Vikings used their personnel. The snap counts were very interesting from Sunday’s game. Here is the breakdown.

Previewing Sunday’s game w/Chiefs Wire

We spoke to C@TheChiefsWire to get the low down on the reigning Super Bowl champions

The Minnesota Vikings are set to take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon in a pivotal game for the purple and gold.

After a 1-3 start, the underlying metrics have this team better than their record, which is the direct opposite of what the Vikings were last season.

The game looks interesting on paper, as the Vikings are currently 5.5-point underdogs at home, but the Vikings have found a way to make it interesting when they are underdogs.

The game will be nationally televised at 3:25 pm central time on CBS with Jim Nantz and Tony Romo on the call.

As we look forward to the game on Sunday, we spoke to John Dillon over at Chiefs Wire to get the lowdown on who we should expect against the Chiefs.

Minnesota Vikings announce 15 roster moves

The first 15 roster cuts were officially announced by the Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings have already begun to trim the roster to get down to 53 players by the 3 pm deadline on Tuesday, August 29th. To do so, there are 37 players that will need to be moved on from or placed on season-ending injured reserve.

When you look at the Vikings roster, there are players who would be considered locks with many others firmly on the roster bubble.

The Vikings announced their first 15 releases on Monday morning via press release and none of them are much of a surprise. Here are all 15.

Rookie WR rankings: Purple Daily on Draft

With not much happening in the heart of the offseason, projecting rookies and discussing the 2024 NFL Draft class dominates the discussion.

As we are about two weeks away from mandatory minicamp, discussions about how this year’s rookie class can impact the game are the most popular topics. That’s what hosts Declan Goff, Tyler Forness and Thor Nystrom tackled on the latest episode of Purple Daily on Draft.

Who will be the most productive rookie wide receiver this season? Goff also asks who will be the Minnesota Vikings fantasy football MVP after Justin Jefferson?

To finish the show, they start the discussion about college quarterbacks as NFL draft prospects begins. They discuss three of the top quarterbacks.

Vikings re-sign defensive end Jonathan Bullard

After testing the free agent market, defensive end Jonathan Bullard has re-signed with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Minnesota Vikings continue to fortify their holes. Per the team’s Twitter account, the Vikings have re-signed defensive end Jonathan Bullard.

The Vikings signed Bullard right before training camp last year to help fortify the defensive line and he was a great asset in helping install the Vic Fangio-style defense that Ed Donatell was planning to run.

Entering his eighth seasond out of Florida, Bullard has been a solid player during his career. Last season, he played in 12 games with seven starts and accumulated 23 tackles and five tackles for loss.

With the move, the Vikings have enough quality defensive lineman to enter the season with. The one downside is that they could use a lot more talent on the roster at that position.

Former Sooners kicker Gabe Brkic waived by Vikings

The bane of burritos everywhere is a free agent after being waived by the Minnesota Vikings, who signed him back in May

Whatever kicking competition there was in Minnesota didn’t last long as the Minnesota Vikings announced that they waived former Oklahoma Sooners kicker Gabe Brkic on Friday.

The Vikings signed Brkic as a UDFA last month to compete with Greg Joseph. The Vikings just completed their mandatory minicamp on Wednesday.

Brkic will need to look elsewhere for a job, and may not need to go very far from his former team. A landing spot I liked for Brkic wasn’t Minnesota, but the Green Bay Packers. Incumbent kicker Mason Crosby is a Packers legend, but has been on the decline for a few years now.

Lambeau Field isn’t the easiest place to kick a football, but the Packers play at least two games indoors every year with a trip to both Detroit and Minnesota.

Brkic’s hometown Cleveland Browns drafted LSU’s Cade York in the fourth round, so a homecoming isn’t going to happen.

Brkic’s massive leg was the stuff of legend during his time in Norman, but Brkic became hot and cold during his last couple of years with the Sooners.

He notoriously struggled for a few games after kicking a burrito for an NIL deal.

Brkic is a very talented kicker. He’ll catch on somewhere, though it could be awhile before he’s on a 53-man roster somewhere in the NFL.
